Prelude
She ran through the woods at a great pace. But as fast as she
was, she was no match for the horses the men rode. Or the dogs who were hot on her trail. She stumbled over the fallen branches
and huge logs that laid before her path. She found herself fleeing deeper and deeper into the dark abyss. Leaving her family
behind.
She felt as if her heart would soon leap out of her chest, as
it pound against it’s walls. Her lungs were aching form the lack of oxygen, due to the over exertion. Soon she felt
legs beginning to grow flaccid beneath her.
Without warning, they gave. She fell as dead to the ground, trying
to catch her breath. But it wasn’t enough to satisfy the body‘s need. The last thing she heard, were the horses’
hooves approaching. And the dogs sniffing around the one they had chased. The dark engulfed her.
Chapter One
He sat on his throne, going about his daily duties. As the Dark
Lord, what else were there for him to do. Even if it was his birthday. Nothing change, everything remains the same. He thought.
His mind had drifted from the proceedings some time ago.
“Master!” The voice brought him back to the affairs
at hand.
“What?” He scowled. The servant shrink from the booming
voice.
“Sir. The Slave merchants have arrived. The have new cargo
and wanted to know if you would like to look the merchandise over.” He asked, trembling.
“No! Tell them I’m not interested. Now everyone out.
I desire to be alone. After all. It is my Birthday.” He said, leaving his throne. He walked over to the balcony, peering
out over the beautiful kingdom that is his alone.
“Everything at my feet. Except that one thing that makes
me complete.” He sighed, wishing his soul mate would come to him. Somehow. Someway.
The young woman taken from her homeland, stood in the makeshift
cage. Watching one by one as the people she accompanied to this land were taken out and sold to the highest bidder. Then her
turn arrived.
“Okay. Here is a beauty just captured this morning. And
she is from good stock, from what I can see.” The man address the buyers in attendance. But one stood out that no one
would oppose, if he found interest.
“Hey, Dante‘. How much is this dark beauty?”
An old man asked, eyeing the woman. Dante’ could see the man wanted the Nubian beauty very much.
“As you can see, she’s very unique. Eyes as green
as the grass. Hair black as coal. Skin like dark caramel. And a figure to die for. Wouldn’t you say, Augustus?”
He taunted man with her beauty. Augustus felt himself coming arouse. He knew the only way he would have a woman to bed, she
would have to her master.
The maiden looked over to the man inquiring about her. She have
seen many like him. Smell of decay. Rough wrinkled hands. With thoughts of grandeur only to nobody but themselves. She prayed
to the Gods he would not be the one who would purchase her. She looked around the crowd hoping for a savior. But this day,
there would be none.
“Yes, Dante’. How much?” He said to the point.
“I know I could get a lot more. But seeing as it is you.
I’ll sell her to you for.......ummm 1,000,000.” He said matter of fact. He could tell Augustus wanted this one
badly.
“You scoundrel. You wouldn’t sell her for as much
if it was the Dark Lord.” He screamed. Dante’ laughed.
Maybe there is hope, she thought. The Dark Lord. She had heard
of him. She was intrigued by the stories of him. She always dreamt of one day of meeting him. To be so close. Yet, so far
away.
“But you sir, aren’t the Dark Lord.” He reminded
him. Augustus looked over at the young woman. His desire for her growing more. He weighed the possibility she will be easily
sold. He didn’t want anyone having her.
She felt her heart shrink within her chest, at the gaze of his
eyes. They reminded her of a pack of wolves stalking their prey. She wanted no parts of this man. She could sense there was
a evil side to this one.
“Your choice. She is a maiden.” Dante’ added,
knowing the old fool would really want to be the first to make her a woman.
“Okay. Here you go you thief. You better be glad I was in
need of another servant or I wouldn’t dare reach so deep into my pockets.” Augustus couldn’t pull the money
out fast enough. Dante’ took it with an smirk.
“Come my dear. We’re going to get along just fine.”
Augustus walked up to the young maiden, rubbing his scrubby old hands over her smooth body. She cringed from his touched.
It’s okay she thought. You weren’t trained all your
life to this end. She’ll have to make sure the desires this man seek, will never be full-filled. Somehow. Someway, she
will get away from him. And to the Dark Lord.
Chapter Two
Marcus felt as if the walls were closing in on him. He couldn’t
take it any longer. This should be a special day. Hummmph. This wasn’t the disposition of an Dark Lord to ponder over
something so minute as a Birthday. Why did this one seem so important? He had no idea. He was restlessness for some reason.
Like he could feel something coming. And he didn’t know what.
“Maybe it’s being stuck in this castle and surrounded
by so many kiss butts. I need to get away for a few days.” He grabbed up his cape and took each stair step by two, hitting
the main floor.
“Master? Where are you going?” His servant came running
down the stairs after hearing him leave his room.
“I’m going to get some fresh air. Is that alright
with you?” He turned to the man, eyes glaring. The man slightly lowered his head, taking one step backwards.
“Y-y-y-yessss Sir. I was just m-m-making .......sure......I’ll
go have the carriage brought around sir.“ The man stuttered. Marcus eyes darkened, fixed on the smaller man before him.
If they were daggers.......this poor soul would have been dead.
“Did I asked you to bring the carriage around?” He
asked. He spoke in a low monotone.
“W-w-why no Master.” The man was confused.
“Then you have presumed?” Marcus’ voice icier
than before. The man realized he had overstepped his boundaries. He went down on one knee. Head downward.
“Forgive me Master.” Is all he said. Marcus took in
a deep breath, then slowing allowed it to escape. He looked around. Then turned his gaze once again to his servant.
“Get up Jasper. I’m just overly sensitive today. I
shouldn’t take it out on you. Have my steed brought around to the front.” Marcus explained. Jasper rose to his
feet and bowed his head in acknowledgement before going to following his Master’s orders.
Old Augustus enjoyed every opportunity to explore his new purchase,
as she sat beside him in the open carriage. She moved as far as she could to the farthest side away from the repulsive being.
“No need to fight me on this my young pretty. I will have
you in my bed tonight. And you will do everything I desire. You have no choice in the matter. I’m your Master now.”
He place his fat hand on her velvet thigh.
“You will never have me. Because my heart belongs to someone
else. Always has and always will.” She glared at him.
“Ahh! Good. A spitfire. I knew I had gotten my monies worth.”
He gripped her thigh. She slapped it away. He laughed. How he’ll enjoy taking her. Just then his eyes left hers and
focus on the road ahead. She looked in the direction his gaze fell.
Marcus saw the carriage of Augustus approaching. He could see
he had another with him. As the distance between the two shorten, Marcus could see he had made another purchase. As they came
upon each other, Augustus bowed his head slightly in acknowledgement. Marcus continued on his way, getting a glimpse of the
new servant.
The maiden eyes met with those of the stranger as he passed by.
For that split second, without either knowing. Their souls touched each other.
“Whooo.” Augustus said, turning his head watching
the Dark Lord moving away from them. The maiden looked at him with great curiosity. Who was this man that caused him to tremble?
Chapter Three
Augustus brought the beauty into the castle where he lived. He
was in such a hurry to play with his new found toy, he had forgotten the day. But he was quickly reminded by Jasper who came
running up to him no sooner than he entered the castle.
“Sir Augustus. We don’t have much time.” Jasper
was not having a good day. His eyes caught the beautiful acquisition of Augustus.
“My.....” He said before he knew it. Augustus eyes
turn to slits.
“Whatever you’re thinking. No! She’s mind. I
brought her.” A one-sided argument Jasper eyes went to the old fool standing before him.
“I.....don’t.......understand.....Sir.” He replied
to the man who had without cause become defensive. Augustus rubbed his hand over his face. Already the maiden was having an
affect on him.
“I’m sorry Jasper. It’s been a long day.”
He looked around and beckoned for a woman servant to come to him.
“Take her to my room and prepare her for me.” He ordered
the young woman. She nodded and took her by the arm, escorting her to his room. Jasper looked upon this exquisite creature
with sympathy.
“Uh-hmmm! Now what was so important?” He said in a
way to warn him off any ideas.
“Sir. Today is the Master’s birthday. It took everything
to keep the surprise celebration from him. He’s out for an evening ride. We’re putting the finally touches to
it.” Jasper reminded him. Augustus grabbed both sides of his head. How could he had forgotten? He’s so bewitched
by the maiden, it completely slipped his mind.
“Oh yes. I just saw the Dark Lord on my way in. Even then
my mind didn’t recall the festivities. Oh well. My little playtime with the dark beauty will have to wait. Which will
make it even the more better.“ He said this, looking up the stairs, running his tongue slowly over his mouth. This cause
Jasper to wish there was someway, somehow he could save this special one from the stubble hands of this troll.
“What is your name, sweetie?” The young woman asked,
as she bathe the maiden.
“My name is Allyia.” She spoke softly. She wasn’t
happy with what will be the last night she will have herself to herself. She always thought she would be with someone she
love whne this happened.
“That’s a beautiful name. For a beautiful maiden.
Where are you from?” She asked. She hadn’t seen many like her around.
“I’m from a distance land.” She replied, with
a tint of sadness. The woman continued to stroke her soft dark skinned, mesmerized by the feel of it.
“You were captured then sold?” She continued the inquiry.
“Yes. I was out for a morning ride as I always do. When
I spotted the men on horses and with dogs. I first I didn’t know who they were, but soon found out as they gave chase.
I rode my horse into the woods. It took a spill sending me too the ground. They chase me down. I passed out. When I came too,
I was in a cage drawn by horses with others.” She felt some relief to tell her tale.
“That’s sad. I don’t know how I would take it
if I was taking far away from my family and friends.” She sympathize with Allyia.
“Are you a slave?” She asked the woman bathing her.
“No, but explain to me the difference. I was born and raised
here in the castle. My family have always worked for the Master. My father is the other man talking to your new Master.”
The young woman said. Allyia nodded her head. For the first time she was feeling what the other side was feeling.
“What is your name?” Allyia asked, for the first time
since her ordeal she was feeling herself.
“Cassie.” She replied, beckoning for her to stand
so she could dry her off. Allyia stepped from the small tub, walked into the huge towel and allowed Cassie to dry her.
Cassie jumped, started by the appearance of Augustus standing
in the doorway admiring his new slave. Allyia quickly grabbed the towel to cover herself, looking away from the hungry gaze.
She felt like a dish to be eaten.
“No need to be shy my lovely. Soon I will know you very
well.” He had this look on his face that made Cassie glad it wasn’t her he would be with that night. Then her
heart went to Allyia. Their talk had connected them in a way. She needed to talk to her father. There had to be a way to get
this woman away from this grotesque person.
“It appears our little time together will have to be postponed
for a little while. I seemed to be so taken in by you, I completely forgotten tonight we had a special celebration. So until
later my lovely.” His voice sent chills up both young women’s spine. He walked away to his room to prepare for
the Dark Lord’s birthday bash.
Chapter Four
“But Papa! Isn’t there some way you can employ the
Master to give her, her freedom. It just makes my skin crawl to think such a beautiful person has to be with that....that.....”
Cassie was cut short by her father.
“Child! How many times have I told you. We are servants.
They are over us. We are to show our respect.” Jasper spoke sternly to his daughter.
She has always been a handful, every since her mother died when
she was still a child. She always feels she has to save everyone. Not to mention how many times the Dark Lord had threaten
to flog her due to her smart mouth.
Marcus had rode until he saw that the sun would be soon setting.
He looked around at his countryside. It had been a relaxing and peaceful ride. He thought he could run away from what it was
that bother him. But the ride only pushed it to the back of his mind.
He decided to head on back home. He knew if he wasn’t back
by nightfall Jasper would have the whole castle in an uproar. And that’s the last thing he needed.
“Jasper! The Dark Lord is heading back this way. And we
still don’t have any entertainment.” The other man servant came running into the kitchen were Jasper was trying
to make sure everything was in order. Jasper raised his hands to the sky and asked ‘Why me?’
“How did this happened?” Jasper turned on the underling.
The man shifted from one foot to the other.
“It appears the Great Chief from the east sent his regrets
of not being able to make it, due something of importance has arise. He was bringing the exotic dances with him.” The
servant explained.
“Why is it so hard to get a party together?” Jasper
waved the servant away as he walked over to the window to think of what he will do for entertainment. Cassie looked over to
her worried father. He loved the Master so much. He had worked hard to make this a surprise and special day. Then a thought
came to her mind. She slipped away.
“Now Cassie young lady.......” He started, turning
towards her, only to find she had left. He just shook his head and went to see that the guest that had arrived were aware
that the Dark Lord approaches.
“Can you dance?” Cassie asked Allyia. She was taking
by surprise at the young woman’s outburst.
“Uh.....yeah. Why?” She asked Cassie. Cassie grinned
from cheek to cheek.
“Good. I may just have away to get you your freedom.”
Allyia looked at Cassie with much confusion.
“Master? You’re back.” Jasper said nervously.
Marcus looked at him, wondering what was wrong with him.
“Is something going on that I should know about?”
Marcus handed him his cape. Jasper took a big gulp.
“Yes Sir. Please follow me.” Marcus looked at him
hard.
“Do not play with me. What is going on?” Marcus gave
an warning voice.
“Brother. Stop giving Jasper a hard time. It’s me
he was trying to keep a secret. Come join me for a drink.” Marcus face lid up to see his younger brother Kane.
“Kane, brother. When did you get back?” Marcus and
Kane gave each other a BIG bear hug.
“Actually, I snuck in last night. Been hiding in my room
all night.” Kane told him, unbeknownst to Marcus he slowly eased him towards the ballroom.
“Keeping secrets from me now eh Jasper?” He playfully
admonished his trusted servant. Jasper gave him a half smile and brought up the rear. As they neared the ballroom door.
“And that’s not all Big Brother.” Kane said
as he opened the door. Marcus realizing for the first time they had come to the doubled door.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!” The fill room boomed. Marcus grasped
his chest. They had pulled a good one over his eyes. But little did he know. The best was yet to come.
Chapter Five
Marcus took his seat at the head of the dining table of the ballroom.
He didn’t show it, but he was overwhelmed with the turn out and all his brother and servant Jasper had done to make
this a special day
Everyone followed him taking their places as arranged. Kane sat
next to his brother, as Jasper took a seat behind the two brothers. To assure their every need were met.
The ballroom table was huge and stoned carved. It took up most
of the ballroom. It was shaped into an horse shoe, backed near to the three walls. Leaving the floor opened for dancing and
entertainment, while the elite dined and socialized.
“I want to thank you for being here my brother. I know sometimes
I act.....well...“ He started.
“Grumpy, grouchy, distance, angry.....“ Kane injected.
Marcus turned and stared at his younger brother.
“Well don’t stop! It seems you have more to add to
the list.“ Marcus half smiled. He wondered with his mood swings how Kane continue to stay close to him. Kane laughed,
causing Marcus to chuckle.
“Actually, my brother. All gratitude should be given to
Jasper. He worked non stop to make this day all that you see.” Kane took a swig of beer, looking around the room searching
for some lonely young lovely to get acquainted.
Marcus turned and glance at his faithful servant. Jasper had been
looking elsewhere, he never saw the look of admiration in his Master’s eyes for him. He returned his gaze back to the
room filled with his well wishers. He thought to himself how he should reward Jasper later for his loyalty.
“Cassie. I don’t know if this is an good idea.”
Allyia looked up to Cassie, worried with the plan the young woman had relayed to her.
“Look Allyia. Just do as I say and this will have very rewarding
results.“ Cassie arranged the seductive costume she had dressed Allyia. It was turquoise. Her hair brought up into one
long braid down her back. A veil covered her face of turquoise color with gold trimming. She wore a turquoise brassiere with
matching chiffon harem pants. Very enticing to say the least.
“Augustus will know it’s me right off. I don’t
want that man getting angry with me and taking it out on me later.” She paced the floor wondering how she had come to
this. She knew her family would be worrying about her.
“Listen to me. If you do as I have told you, you’ll
never have to worry about that old creeper ever again.” Cassie was confident in what she was saying. After all she grew
in the castle. She knew Marcus very way. They had been playmates. Maybe the reason she could get away with so much.
“Besides. Who knows where this will lead.” Cassie
though how much she wanted her Master to be happy. If not with her, then with someone. And Allyia fit the bill.
“If you’re sure?” She asked, still fearful of
Augustus’ wrath. Cassie nodded her head, looking her eyes to reassuring her. Then some music began to play. Cassie cocked
her ears.
“It’s show time. Allyia, dance like you never dance
before. Make my Master fall in love with you. Let your body speak to him. If you do as I say. You will be free or better.
Belong to him.” Cassie said this like it wasn’t a bad thing. With that, she walked through the other side of the
curtains. To her destiny.
Chapter Six
Marcus leaned to the side, poking fun at his younger brother.
The rest of the party seated about the great table, were busy eating, drinking and dancing. Then the music stopped. Everyone
knew the entertainment phase of the night was about to begin.
Maybe it was the quiet. Maybe it was the atmosphere air. Or the
hint of something to come, that made Marcus pause and turn his head to the end of the table. But whatever it could have been.
One thing for sure, the mood was set. For the two souls.
Allyia walked in the shadows out from behind the curtains that
had once been her shield. Whatever it was, her fear fled from her. Her eyes caught a glimpse of the one sitting at the head
of the great table. He seemed familiar as she made her way into the open. Then she remembered the face. He was the one Augustus
cowered from. She walked slow and deliberate. Her courage renewed. Maybe Cassie was right after all. If he struck fear in
the one who bought her, then the only way to gain her freedom was through this ones heart. And the one thing she replayed
in her mind, ‘Dance like you never dance before. Make my Master fall in love with you. Let your body speak to him.’
She took her stance and waited for the music to begin. It did.
Allyia became lost in it’s rhythm. Her body swayed with it’s every note. Her abdomen rolled like the waves of
the sea. Her hips moved like unto an pendulum. She and the music moved as one.
Marcus slowly turned in her direction, straighten up in his chair.
His eyes glued to the dark beauty, as she danced her danced. She looked to him, one foot in front of the other. She came closer
to him. Their eyes met. Marcus raised his mug to his lips, his eyes never straying from hers. He drank.
Allyia felt free. All inhibitions were gone. She felt confident.
It was as if they were the only two the room. She dance the dance of love before Marcus. He stared into the dark eyes, bewitched
by their depth. She was entranced by his beautiful haunting green eyes.
Her dance intensified. Their eyes were locked. She raised her
arms and beckoned him to join her on the floor. Without a thought, he rose from his seat and began to walk around the great
table. To the one who called to him. Never once did their eyes disconnect. His heart was hers.
Kane watched with interest, as his brother moved as an lion towards
his prey. But the young woman seemed to be just as mesmerized by his brother. He nodded his head and smiled. He knew this
one had his brother’s attention. He sat back comfortably in his chair, taking a swig of his ale. He was curious to see
how this will play out.
Augustus was enjoying the entertainment and thinking about how
glad he would be when it was over. He had a maiden to tend to. He took a gulp of his wine and then spit it. It had dawned
on him, who this dancer were. His maiden was in front of him, dancing before his master. He looked over to Marcus and could
see he was very taken in by her. He took a BIG chance. But she was worth it.
“STOP THE MUSIC!” He jumped to his feet and moved
himself from the table, heading for the open area. The musicians stop playing. Marcus’ head snapped in his direction.
The trance broken. He had just reached out touch her when Augustus yelled out.
“Wait!” He was nearly out of breath for running quickly
to where the two stood.
“Augustus, you had better have a damn good reason for this
interruption.” Marcus warned.
“Forgive me Sir. But this is my slave. She doesn’t
have my permission to be here. Let along dance.” Augustus grabbed Allyia by her arm. She struggled to free herself,
to no avail. He was bigger than her and more determined to get her away from the eyes of his Master.
Marcus glared at Augustus, then turned his gazed to the woman
who had successfully seduced him with her dance. He could see, she had fear in her eyes. And he could understand why so. Augustus
was not one who should have rule over any being. Human or otherwise.
“Meet me in my study. I’ll get to the bottom of this.
Everyone, enjoy yourselves. I will return.” Marcus head towards the entrance of the ballroom. Augustus man-handling
Allyia followed. Kane left his seat. He wanted to see how his brother was going to let this one go. Knowing she would be with
the toad Augustus.
Chapter Seven
The group of four made their way down the corridors. Each in they’re
on little thoughts. Allyia uncertain to what will befall her. Surrounded by strangers. For awhile, just for a minute. She
felt she had accomplish her goal. Until Augustus broke the spell.
Augustus was fuming. If the Dark Lord even thought of taking his
prized possession. Well, he had another thing coming. What was she thinking? Oh how dearly will she pay for this rebellious
behavior. And he will enjoy every minute of it.
Cassie watched from the stairwell, as her friend was led into
conference. This was not good. If only they had touched. She had to figure something else out before she is handed over to
that old goat. She left swiftly to find her father.
Marcus enter his huge study. The others slowly followed. He made
his way around the huge desk and took a seat in the throne like chair. Kane stayed near the door. He didn’t want to
miss anything. Augustus with his hand still gripping Allyia’s arm, paused in front of the desk. He waited for the command
to come near.
Marcus eyes were cast downwards for a moment, his heart was doing
something strange. He had never felt like this before. So he wasn’t able to explain what he was feeling. Not until his
eyes lifted and fell on Allyia. Then he knew. Whatever was he going to do?
“Come forward Augustus. And bring your slave with you.”
He commanded, his eyes shifting from the woman who held his heart in her hands. Augustus did as he was told, towing Allyia
alongside him.
“Your outburst interrupted a very special day. What do you
have to say for yourself?” Marcus’ voice low and deep.
“Sir, please forgive me for the outburst. But I was in shock
when I discovered that my slave was the dancer enticing you. She had not my permission to do this.” Augustus pleaded
his case. Marcus’ eyes moved from Augustus to Allyia.
“Well slave. It seems your first day here has been an eventful
one. Is it true you are his slave?” Marcus’ voice was soft as he addressed her.
She gazed into his eyes. She felt her knees growing weak. It was
more than gaining her freedom now. It was about this man who stood before. He touched her like no man has ever done in her
life.
“He says I am.” She replied, her eyes never leaving
his. He in turn stayed his gaze on her.
“Really? What do you say?” He asked, he could feel
the waves flowing between them.
“I say he may own my body. But never my heart. That belongs
to another.” She then looked from Marcus and glare into the eyes of Augustus. He flinched when he saw how cold and dark
her eye had come.
“Is that so? Well slave, here the Master is in control.
The slave does whatever they are told.” Marcus felt as if a knife pierced his heart upon her declaration of another
holding her heart. He did what he does best, shut down.
“You will do your Master’s binding, as long as you’re
in my kingdom. Augustus, take your slave and leave me now.” Marcus stood and turn his face to the wall. He didn’t
want them to see the pain he was feeling. Tonight Augustus will have her body, but another will always hold her heart.
Allyia was in shock. She couldn’t believe he was allowing
him to take her. How could he turn so cold all of a sudden? One minute they were basting in each others eyes. The attraction
has been there from the moment they met.
She wanted to call out to him to save her from this beast. She
wanted him to know, what she felt for him no one could touch. The tears formed in her eyes as she was lead away by Augustus.
She looked pleadingly to Kane as she disappeared through the great doors.
“Brother?“ Kane walked up to the desk, not understanding
why his brother allow her to be taken from him.
“Kane my brother. I want to be alone.” Marcus sat
on the edge of the desk, staring up to a picture on the wall. He didn’t want his brother to see him weak.
“Okay! I’ll leave you to sulk. But before I go, there’s
something I think you need to here.” Kane leaned in on the desk behind his brother. Marcus never moved. His thoughts
remained on her.
“It’s clear she feels for you. And you for her. I
hope you don’t live to regret this decision.” Kane turned and left his brother to his thoughts. No sooner than
Kane had exited the room. Marcus picked up his chair with great strength and throw it across the room. He let out a roar as
an lion.
Chapter Eight
“Papa! You have to help me get Allyia from Augustus.”
Cassie had pulled her father from the festivities telling him it was an emergency.
“Have you taken leave of your senses? You pulled me away
from the gala to tell me about something that doesn’t concern you?” Jasper grabbed his daughter’s arm, leading
her away to a secluded place.
“Papa! Listen to me. They’re is something special
about her. Her hands are delicate. He skin smooth as velvet. What if she’s royalty or something like that.? And we have
her here, allowing Augustus to violate her. What do you think her people will think of us?” Cassie was very animate
with her father. He turned and walked a distance, then turned back to his daughter.
“You have always had a vivid imagination. If she was of
any royalty and missing. Believe me we would a\have known. Because the Dark Lord would have been notified to keep an look
out for her.” Jasper informed his daughter.
“Damn! We were so close.” She said walking around
the room. Jasper’s eyes squinted. He walked over to his daughter, grabbing her shoulders. Then swung her around to face
him.
“Did you have anything to do with that display in the ballroom?”
Jasper asked her. She could see her father was very angry. She looked to the ground. She hated to when her father was ire
with her.
“Yes Papa!” She said quietly. He stepped back, grabbed
his head. The turned quickly to face her.
“You are confined to your room until I see deemed to allow
you out. Is that understood. You have no idea what kind of worms you have opened here.” Jasper shook his head, looking
out a window into the night.
“No foul Papa. She’s back with Augustus.” Cassie
remarked. Jasper looked down to the ground, took in a deep breath, then slowly exhaled. He turned to look into his innocent
daughter’s eyes.
“My poor child. Are you so naive? Or weren’t you able
to see? Our Dark Lord was smitten by the young woman for how short their acquaintance. And now to know, she will be taken
by Augustus. We’ll all have to pay. His mood will not be the greatest for the next few days.” Jasper beckon for
one of the guards to lead her to her room and to stand there to assure she doesn’t leave it. Then he left to rejoin
the festivities.
Kane walked from the shadows. The conversation was an interesting
one. Cassie is a very observant girl. What if this young woman was kidnapped and sold? That wouldn’t do the kingdom
any good. He‘s going to have to find out if this one is very important. Now to figure out away to get her out of the
clutches of Augustus.
“You will be punished harshly for your defiance girl.”
Augustus pulled her along, hand tightening his grip on her arm. She gave a little yelp when he jerked her at one time.
“You think that hurts? Wait until I’m finish with
you. No one humiliates me and gets away with it.” They had arrived to his room.
He opened the door and shoved her hard into it. She went falling
to the floor. She turned and stared with great fear. She could see in his eyes what she had known from their first meeting.
He was a very evil person. One to be reckon with.
“Now my pretty. Your dancing has arouse me. I loved the
way you control your muscles. Now I want to see how much you can control them” He began to remove his clothing. Allyia
turned away from him. She had to figure out how to get away. And maybe get back to......him.
At that moment, she realized. The one who had her heart. She didn’t
know his name. That’s something she will have find out. She heard a rustling behind her. And automatically turned in
its direction. She repelled in disgust to see the grotesque bare figure before her.
“Let’s go to my bed. There you will do everything
I want. You are to please me without question. So says the Dark Lord.” Augustus pointed for her to go before him. Allyia
was stunned.
“You’re the Dark Lord?” She asked, confused.
He is nothing as had been described to her. Augustus let out a loud laugh. Then shaking his head looked at this woman with
humor.
“No! The one who deliver you back into my hands. And commanded
you to do as I said. He is Marcus, the Dark Lord.” Augustus said with an smirk. Allyia eyes lighten.
She turned away from the old fool. It was the one she had loved
since she had her stories of him. And now she was in his kingdom. Why hadn’t she made the connection before. More than
ever she had to get away from this diabolical being and too her Marcus.
Chapter Nine
Marcus had returned to the gala and informed everyone he had pressing
affairs that needed his attention. And bid everyone to continue with the party, He slowly walked up the stairs to his room.
Stopping momentarily in front of Augustus room. He wondered if indeed he had made the biggest mistake in his life.
“Rethinking your decision my brother?” Kane asked,
coming down the hallway. Marcus head snapped towards him. He blankly stared at his brother.
“No! I see you’re doing what you do best. Hiding in
the shadows.” Marcus walked away from the room towards his own. Kane chuckled at his brother’s stubbornness.
“Marcus, I need to leave for several days. There is something
of importance to take care of.” Kane informed his brother. Marcus looked to his brother as they walked down the hall,
coming to his room.
“You just got back. When are you leaving?” Marcus
throw his robe on a chair.
“Tonight.” Kane replied. He walked over to the balcony.
He was hoping his brother didn’t insist on finding out why he had to leave so suddenly.
“Well if you have to go.” Marcus sat on his bed. He
needed his brother close to him at this time. His heart was going through something he had never gone through before. And
for the next few days his mood will be out of whack. Only his brother would be able to bring him back. But then he would never
let him know this.
“Yes, very much so.” Kane turned to his brother. He
knew this was a bad time to leave. But he had to choose between everyone having to deal with his brother’s moodiness
for the days to come. Or risk problems between the kingdom and some other kingdom. If this girl is of royal blood.
“Okay. If you must. Take care and see you when you return.”
Marcus and Kane hugged each other for a moment. Then Kane left the room quickly. Thankful he didn’t have to lie to his
brother on why he had to make this journey.
Augustus had pulled his plump body up on the bed, propped up on
his many pillows. He looked at Allyia with hungry eyes. She hugged herself as an chill ran through her body. She kept her
eyes off his hideous body. No way was she going to allow him to touch her. She didn’t care what the punishment would
be.
“I want you to dance before me as you did the Master.”
Augustus leaned over on a couple of pillows, in a semi lying position on his side.
“What?” She asked, staring at him.
“I watched hw you two looked at each other. I could see
there was something developing with you the both of you. I was so surprise when he gave you over to me. I could tell. He wanted
you badly.” Augustus tainted her. But what he had said just made her more determined to escape.
“Now dance and look at me the way you looked at him.”
His voice turned fro a taunt, to a command. Allyia looked around the room. She knew she was not able to pull this off. The
only feelings she had for this man was distain and fear.
“I said DANCE SLAVE!!” Allyia jumped with a start.
She looked into his evil eyes. They were dark and cold. She did as he said. But without the flow between them as was with
Marcus. The dance was half-hearted. Augustus grew angry with her. He sat up in the bed.
“Take off your clothes.” His voice changing once again.
It was low and cold. Allyia shook her head, backing away. His head tilted downward, his eyes fixed on her.
“Do as I say slave. TAKE THEM OFF, NOW!!” He shrieked.
Allyia slowly began to removed the insignificant articles, trying to abided her time. Augustus’ patience with her had
reached its limits.
“Get in the bed!” His voice cold and low once again.
Allyia began to mumble something under her breath.
“What are you doing?” Augustus asked, growing tired
of the games.
“I’m just praying.” She looked at him. Augustus
felt a little uncomfortable with this.
“Well, stop now. And get in the bed. I’ll remove the
clothing myself. She slowly walked to the bed and crawled in far to the other side of the bed. This made him even more angry.
“Don’t make me have to come get you.” Augustus
warned her. Allyia thought for a moment, then moved closer to him. The tears filled her eyes, as his hands began to fumble
with her brassiere.
Chapter Ten
Kane met with the slave seller. He questioned him on how he came
about acquiring the beautiful Nubian. He answered without hesitation. He knew who Kane was and what would happen if he didn’t
tell him what it was he wanted to know.
After getting the information, Kane left the city in search of
the ones who actually kidnapped the young woman. he took two of the Dark Lords most trusted enforcers. The Acolytes. They
would guard him with their lives. And they were fierce fighters.
Marcus sat on the banister of his balcony, looking over his kingdom.
He could hear the music lifting from the ballroom. The bash was going full bloom. He saw some of the guest in various parts
of the courtyard. He thought he saw a couple in the garden, getting acquainted. There’s going to be a house full of
guest in the morning. Not to mention hangovers.
He turned his gaze to the star filled sky. You could almost reach
out and touch them. The moon was full and bright. It was enchanting. His mind fell on the dark beauty whose name he didn’t
know. How could she filled him with so much in such a short time, only to leave him desolate?
His eyes wandered over to the balcony of Augustus’ room.
It took everything in him not to go to his room, kick the door in. And take her up into his arms, rescuing her from the swine.
He turned away from the room. He didn’t want to think about what may be going on in the room. He left the balcony and
went to take a seat before his fireplace.
“Good old Jasper. He always knows what I need to soothe
my soul.” He looked at the mug full of liquor, downed it, filled it up again and down that too. He was beginning to
feel light headed. He slumped down in his chair and poured himself more of the drink. By now, he was feeling pretty good.
Allyia reached back and planted the palm of her hand against Augustus
face. He felt himself thrown back onto his pillows with the impact. She glared at him with such disgust, he held his hand
over the spot, shocked. That was all the time she needed. She jumped from the bed and ran speedily from the room.
It didn’t matter what the outcome of this assault will be
fall her. One thing for sure, it won’t be any worst than having this troll touch her. She ran down the hall until she
heard Augustus calling for the guards. She paused looking around for a safe haven. Then hearing the guards running down the
hallway and up the stairs, she darted into the first door near her.
Marcus was slowly fading out into his solitude when he heard Augustus
shrieking like a girl. He tried to raise up to find out what all the commotion. He struggled to his feet and made a few steps.
He paused at the foot of his bed, when he thought he saw someone entered his room. He thought it was the woman of is heart.
Her dark eyes were all he remembered before he keeled over unto the bed into darkness.
Kane came across the ban of slavers, who may have kidnapped the
young woman and sold her to the slave seller. It would be tricky, but he had to get to the bottom of this. He gestured to
the Acolytes to move in. They had figured who the Chief of the group.
They move in on his tent. As swift as the night, they had entered
his tent and carried him away right under the guards noses. That’s why Kane takes them with him on all missions like
this. He struggled with them but they were bigger and stronger them him. His eyes grew wider when he came face to face to
the one who had ordered his abduction.
“Brother of the Lord of Darkness. I am your humble servant.”
He fell to his knees. Kane looked to John and Ron. The chuckled. So a servant. This should be easy.
“Get up. I need information from you. And how you answer
will depend on whether you live or not.” Kane spoke solemnly.
Chapter Eleven
Allyia pressed her head to the door, listening to the pounding
feet running up and down the corridors. Searching for her. She could hear Augustus threatening the guard’s lives if
they didn’t find her. She moved away when she heard two of them stop in front of the room she had ran into.
“Do you think we should warn the Master of the escape?”
One asked the other. Allyia grew fearful. She remember what the Dark Lord had told her. Slaves must do their Master’s
biddings. And he didn’t look like he would restrain from having her punish.
“Hey I know he heard all of the noise out here. I don’t
know if we should disturb him.” The other was hesitant on bothering the Dark Lord with Augustus’ problems. But
if she could see him one more time, maybe she convince him of what went between them, how brief, was real.
“What are you tow waiting for. Knock on that damn door and
inform the Dark Lord of the slaves assault on me and her escape. She will pay dearly for this.” Augustus could be heard
coming down the hallway.
There came a knock at the door. Allyia slowly backed away from
the door, afraid she would be discover. They‘re knocking at this door, she thought. She froze for a moment, when she
heard movement behind her.
She slowly turned to look into the eyes of the man who owned her
heart. He stared at her, trying to rise from his chair. Eyes droopy and bloodshot. She could see he had been drinking. He
stumbled towards her, with one hand elevated, finger pointed to her. She thought he was going to say something, when he fell
over into the bed.
The loud knock at the door broke her concentration on him. She
felt they would fear something had happened to him and enter the room. She looked around for a hiding place. She found one.
“Why are you imposing on the Master?” Jasper’s
voice could be heard in the distance.
“That slave has attacked me and fled. I want the Dark Lord
to know and to give me permission to have her killed.” Augustus was very angry.
“I don’t want to question your decision my lord. But,
to have her killed is a little extreme. Don’t you think?” Jasper had never debated a higher up before. But he
never has liked Augustus, he was a waste of time living off the Master.
“You may be the Dark Lord’s favorite, but don’t
forget your place. I bought her and I can do with her whatever I choose. She is a danger to the castle. She attacked me, next
time she will do worst. Now get out of my way. We better go in and check on the Dark Lord. She could have done something to
him.” Augustus was more worried she may be with him. He saw how those two looked at each other.
He could have her sold. But he knew the Dark Lord would only buy
her for himself. And that will not happen. By any means, he will keeps them apart. If she didn’t want him, she will
not have anyone. And no one will have her.
“I’ll go in and check on the Master. It would be my
head, not yours if you disturb him.” Jasper sneered, turned and slowly eased opened the door. Augustus strained to see
in the room, knowing the two were together. Jasper gasped. Marcus laid knocked out on the bed.
“See I told you. She has killed the Dark Lord. Sound the
alarm. Search the room. She couldn’t have gone far.” Augustus shrieked. Was at Marcus’ side and breathe
a sigh of relief. He knew too well what was going on here.
“Do not sound any alarms. The Master is fine. He’s
asleep. Just exhausted from his long day.” Jasper called to the guards who were heading out the door to have the castle
put on alarm that the Dark Lord had been killed. They stopped and turned to wait their next orders. Relieved he was alright.
“If you don’t mind, I’ll attend to my Master
now.” Jasper gesture for them to leave. Then he looked to Augustus who seemed to think it couldn’t have been addressing
him.
“Very well Sir. I’m going to undress the Master and
put him to bed. In the morning As I explain to him the events of the night. You can tell him why you felt it your duties to
watch me as I prepared him for bed. I’m sure he would love your explanation why you felt the need to see him unclothed.”
Jasper was very polite as he address this uppidity fool.
Augustus thought for a second. Snorted like the sow he was and
left the room. He was not through with searching for the vixen. Her life was now in danger.
Chapter Twelve
Jasper the left his Master lying in his warm bed, sound to sleep.
He loved him as if he were the son he never had. He was loyal to his father. He watched Marcus and Kane, his brother grow
up. He was proud of what fine men they turned out to be. Very much like their father. He left the room, placing a guard outside
the room. With orders under no circumstances the Master was not to be disturbed.
Allyia seeing all had left the room, climbed down the bed post
where she had hid up on the canopy. She could hear everything said. And felt alarmed. She knew Augustus would make good his
threat to have her killed. But the question is, would Marcus follow through.
She looked over to Marcus lying so peacefully in the bed. She
slowly crept over to him and looked at him, studying him. She noted every line, every pore. His long full red hair, like a
halo about his face. How his nostril took in the air and his mouth blew it out. His soft mouth, she wanted so badly to kiss.
She noted how long he was and the custom bed made to accommodate
him. His enormous hairy arms. She gently ran her hand over the one nearest her. She felt a tingle rush through her body. This
was the first time a touch ever was made by either of them. And she knew, he had to be hers.
She moved quietly and effortlessly around the bed to the empty
space next to him. She lifted herself up in the bed and crawled in next to him. She slid down so she could be face to face
with him. She felt his warm breath touch her cheek and felt her body respond to his nearness.
She felt his warm body nest to hers. That’s when she realized
ed he was in the nude. She shrunk back for the moment. But her desire to be close to him won out. She began to remove her
clothing, so she could fully feel his body next to her.
She touched his face lightly with her hand, running over the goatee,
so nicely trimmed. He slightly shifted his body in the bed, she paused her hand in place. Not wanting to arouse him from his
sleep. She wanted to enjoy this time with him. It may be the last night on earth. What better than to spend it next to the
one you loved.
Kane and the Acolytes headed due east. This is where the sniffering
slaver told him they had kidnapped the young woman. They were not too far when the were surrounded by an army of guards hidden
in the bushes. The Acolytes drew their swords to protect Kane. He beckoned them to put them away.
“Who are you and where have you come from?” Asked
one. Kane moved closer to this one, to show he was the leader here.
“We are looking for a Chieftain. One who may have lost something
very precious. I am the Princess of the Dark Realm. I may be of help to him.” Kane spoke in riddles. But the one knew
of what he spoke.
“Come, follow me. Our Great Chief of the East will be very
grateful if you could help him recover this gem.” The one turn and began to ride away. Kane and the Acolytes follow,
with the guards bringing up the rear.
Marcus began to come out of his deep sleep, yawning. He rubbed
his hand over his face, and moved up in the bed. He stretched his arms and legs. Only to pause when he felt the small soft
body lying next to him, dead to the world. He stared into her face, bewildered. It was her, the one who stole his heart. But
belonged bodily to Augustus and her heart to another. But if so, why would she be here with him? Or was he dreaming? One way
to find out.
“Owwwwwww!!” He yelled.
Chapter Thirteen
Marcus decided to pull an nose hair. Boy did that bring tears
to his eyes. Now he knew he was not dreaming. He was wiping the tears d\from his eyes, seeing the blurry figure next to him
began to stir.
She woke with a start, hearing the out cry. She had thought he
was out for the night. And she would get some rest, sneaking out in the morning. But now seeing him with the water dripping
from his eyes, she jumped out of the bed and ran hiding in the corner. Marcus still trying to recover, extended his hand to
halt her retreat.
“Wait! Do not fear me. I wish you no harm.” He finally
was able to speak. She stared at him, trying to figure how she would get away.
“Please my darling lady. Never in a lifetime do you ever
have fell I would harm you.” He moved from the bed, cautiously near her. She stepped back into the wall, feeling trapped.
“Yeah! Augustus said whatever he wanted to happen to me.
You will have to honor.” She began to allow her tears to form in her eyes. Marcus frowned.
“Why would Augustus want.........” Then realization
filled his head. Allyia could see in his eyes. He was wondering why she was in is room.
“What did you do? And why are you here? Be honest with me.
Or there will be no saving you.” He informed her. She began to see the softness leaving his eyes as he took on the Ruler
of his kingdom mode.
“May I please get my clothes?” She asked humbly. Marcus
tilted his head to his side. Admiring the beautiful woman before him. His heart was captured once again.
“Only if I can recover mine.” He said with a devious
smile. As afraid as she was, she felt herself smiling and their eyes met and held the other.
Kane and the Acolytes followed the guards as they came into a
clearing. Before them stood a fortress. Kane’s eyes grew large. He knew this place. He also knew the Chieftain. Could
this be so? Was the one back at the castle the daughter of this one. They moved into the city.
“Kane my brother. What brings you here at our most grievous
time?” He said as he moved down the stairs of the castle.
“Jared! We have much to talk about.” Kane dismounted
and came to his friend.
They slaver paced back and forth of his tent. Awaiting where Kane
and the Acolytes’ joureny had led them. He knew this was not good if the Princess of the Dark Realm sought out the origin
of the beautiful Nubian slave they caught awhile back.
“Damn I should have known she was from a great and powerful
family.” No sooner thought, when he heard his rider who had followed the party rush into camp. He left his tent and
watch as the rider never given the horse to stop, jumped from its back.
“Tell me quickly. Where did they go?” He was clearly
shaken.
“To the great Cheitain of the East master.” He said
kneeling before him. The slaver looked as if his life flashed before him. He began to wring his hand and walk in a daze. Trying
to figure out where did his day go wrong.
“Everyone! We leave tonight. All but my three trusted bodyguards
will flee back to our country.” Finally coming back to reality. He yelled in the midst of th camp, sending men half
sleep running form their tents. No sure if they were under attack or what. All stood fully alert and listen to their leader.
“Go back to our land as fast as you can move. And a word
of advice. Do not ever talk of the Nubian Princess we so mistakenly captured ans sold. You lives depend on it. Talk of anything.
But never her.” He said this solemnly.
Each man focus on his eyes and the words he spoke. His continence
was full of fear. And they took his words to heart, as they began to break camp for their long journey home. Vowing never
to mention of the one capture that never happened.
“We leave for the Dark Realm. There is one I must see. He
led the Prince to me. No one double snitches on me.” He watched as his bodyguards gather his belongings.
Chapter Fourteen
Augustus stumped around his room. Waiting for some news of the
slave. He will use her up then sale her to the cheapest bidder. He was deep in his scheming he didn’t hear the knock
at his door. Until followed by a heavier pound.
“Yes? They must have found her.” He waddled over to
the door as fast as his fat legs could carry him. But was met with a greater surprise when he found the one who had sold her
to him at his door.
“Wh-what are you doing here?” He asked quite confused.
The mad boldly pushed past him. Augustus took a offense to this defiant behavior.
“Augustus! We’re in BIG trouble.” He said looking
around the lavish room. Augustus looked at him as if he had lost ALL of his senses.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Whatever
you may have gotten yourself in. Get out of my room with it NOW. I have enough problems to tend with.” He went to the
door and open it beckoning for him to leave. The man stood his ground.
“Kane came asking me for the name of the one I got the dark
beauty. Why would you think he wanted to know this?” He asked Augustus, taking a seat on the end of his bed. Augustus
had just about had enough.
“I have no idea and could careless. After I’m through
with her, I’ll give her back to you. You can do whatsoever you please.” He said smugly. Walking over to a chair
and lowering his butt into it.
“Really? I would be concern. For him to be so determined
to find her origin, means something.” He stood to his feet and walked over to the balcony looking at the sky. Suddenly
it sunk into Augustus brain. Why would Kane be so interested in this woman. Unless the Dark Lord has some designs on her.
That will never happen. He would see her dead first.
Marcus and Allyia hesitantly released each others gazes and went
to cloth themselves. Allyia knew her predicament was grave, but she felt for some reason she could trust this beautiful man
before her.
“What is your name?” Marcus asked, bringing her out
of her thoughts.
“I am called Allyia.” She answered. She took a seat
on the floor near the fireplace. She was feeling chilly. Not sure of the draft in the air or the days event finally catching
up with her. Marcus saw this and grabbed a covering from his bed. He slid down next to her, draping the covering about her
shoulder. She looked up into his eyes, feeling his body touching her.
“Allyia. A beautiful name for a beautiful slave.”
He replied, leaning down to her. Their faces inches from each other
“What is yours Master. If I may ask?” She never let
go of his gaze.
“Marcus.” His lips brushed against hers. She moved
closer to him. Not able to restrain himself further. He took her into his arms. His mouth covering hers. He deeply kissed
her releasing every feeling he had held for her from the time he laid eyes on her.
“Kane my friend. Please except my deepest apology for not
coming to your brother’s Birthday party. But as I told you. My daughter is missing. ” Jared ordering the servants
to bring them something to each as they drank wine.
“No the apology is mine. I didn’t put two and two
together.” Kane sipped the rich wine. Jared looked over to him bewildered.
“I don’t understand.” Jared replied.
“I never told my brother of our agreement. And when you
didn’t show. I didn’t feel the need to go into it with him. I was going to seek you out later. I know your word
is your bond. And knew something had to come up for you not to go through with what we had agree. Just had no idea it was
this.“ Kane explained.
“You said something about two and two.” Jared asked.
Kane shifted in his seat.
“I think inadvertently , our deal will go through if we
can get back to my country in time.” Kane looked sheepishly to Jared.
“Kane my friend. What are you talking about?” Jared
more confused than ever.
“I wish I had the pleasure of meeting your daughter on my
visits. Then I could be sure.” Kane said to Jared.
“You are still confusing me.” He shook his head, thinking
it was the wine clogging his mind.
“I think I know where your daughter is.” Kane asked.
Jared jumped to his feet.
“Where is she? Is she alright? Please tell me.” Jared
pleaded with Kane.
“I think the beautiful Nubian woman bought by one of my
brother’s advisors is the same. She is safe for the moment. I had him drugged so nothing would happened until I return
to deal with the matter.” Kane explain. Jared began to allow the tears to form in his eyes. He had thought the worst,
but relieved she was safe at the castle.
“I thought she had run away or eaten by wild beasts. Never
thought the slave trappers would venture so far into my territory. I will deal with them later. We must go now.” He
turned to Kane.
“You said you thought she had run away. Did she know she
was going to be wed?” Kane stood to his feet.
“Yes, but not to who.” Jared answered. Kane nodded
his head. They prepared to leave for his homeland hoping they would get there in time before Augustus takes the girl.
Chapter Fifteen
Marcus and Allyia’s lips parted, but their souls remained
connected. Their eyes looked deep into the other, overwhelmed with the emotions washing over them. They were in a place no
one else could touch them. All around them was oblivious to the two. This woman had truly stole his heart, once vacant of
love. Never in his life had one had such an impact in such a short time.
Allyia never thought, the one she loved so long would be the one
holding her so close to his heart. Or tasting of his strong soft lips. She felt safe and secure in his embrace. As if nothing
in this world would ever harm her. She wanted him as much as he wanted her. She would follow him to the ends of the earth
if he asked her too. He was her soul-mate. Her true love.
But then she had a secret. Something her father informed her just
before her abduction. The arranged marriage her father had planned for her with some nobleman. She wasn’t sure if she
should reveal this too him. It could be the key to her freedom. Yet the end of them. What a dilemma?
She allow turned her eyes from his, casting her head downward.
Fearing he would see the deception in her heart. He was brought back to reality with the lost of her their connection. He
gently hooked a finger under her chin, tilting her head slightly to recapture the moment. She closed her eyes from him.
“What is wrong?” His voice soft but deep. Her shoulder
felt the vibration of his voice from his chest.
“It’s nothing My Lord.” She replied, her voice
having an touch of sadness. But he hadn’t had insight into this woman’s heart not to know her.
“Yeah there is. What is troubling you? Augustus? Or the
one who hold’s your heart?” His voice had a sting of anger to it. She realized he was jealous.
“My Love. You are jealous?“ She asked, allowing a
chuckle to pass her lips. He pulled her way from him, glaring into her eyes. She had realized the love he felt was deeper
than thought.
“You dare laugh at me, for what I hold so dear? My love
for you.“ He rose from the place near the fire and walked out onto the balcony. He sat on the banister, looking out
into the night. Not at anything particularly.
Allyia watch him leave her and felt instant loneliness. She would
not lose him so quickly. That is something she realized at this moment. She would do whatever is in her power to make sure
her and Marcus are never parted.
She rose form her spot and walked over to him and lightly ran
her hand over his arm. His body shifted in response to her touch. He felt himself becoming arouse.
“Marcus, there is no one who holds my heart but you.”
She laid her head on his arms, looking up to the stars bedazzled.
“Yes, now! But you told me today, there is one who would
always hold your heart.” Marcus reminded her. She had to giggle once again at the thought of him being so jealous of
himself. Marcus shook her off him and moved away to from her. He turned his back on her for the mistake of laughing at him
once again. But she was not that easily detoured.
“My dear Dark Lord. I have be in love with you since the
first tale of your existence touched my heart. I knew no man would ever measure up to you. You were and are the Love of my
life.” She informed him. She kept her face out to the night, their backs barely touching.
Marcus’ head snapped around to her with this revelation.
Seeing her there alone did something to him. It didn’t look right. They were one. Now and forever. He slowly turned
around and moved to snake his arms around her, pulling her to his body. She let out a soft sigh at his touch.
“So it was me you spoke of when you told me there is one
who would always have your heart?” More of an statement than an question. She bend her arms to touch his’ with
her hands.
“Yes M y Love. For always you will be in my heart. And NO
One will take that from me.” She said this with such defiance. Marcus became alarmed. There was something she was keeping
from him. He will allow it for the night. He didn’t want anything to destroy this moment. But on the morrow, he will
discover her secret.
Chapter Sixteen
Augustus stood at the door, staring at the man. Then slammed the
door shut. He slowly walked passed the man and took a seat near a small table to get him a drink. With all that was going
on, he didn’t need to bring attention to his room.
“One day you are going to push me too far, thug.”
Augustus took a glass of wine from the small table. The man came to sit next to him in the other chair.
“Augustus. I told Kane who sold me the woman. Quasi. He’ll
be coming for me. And more than that, he knows you bought her for a pretty price. He’ll think you sent him his way too.
He knows we have dealings.“ Augustus nearly choked, spraying his wine from his lips.
“You imbecile! Your mouth is going to be the death of you.
If not tonight. How dare you disclose our transactions.” Augustus was fit to be tied. He stumped about the room to keep
from killing this man. How was he going to get out of this predicament?
“I want you out of my room this very instance.” Augustus
stopped his tantrum enough to order him from the room. The man shook his head. To leave would mean his death.
“Or you defying me?” Augustus slowly walked towards
him.
“If you intend on killing him. You’re going to have
to wait in line.” The voice came from the balcony. The tow men’s head rapidly turned in its direction simultaneously.
“QUASI!” They said in unison.
“Yes its me in living color.” He bend at the waist
mocking an response to and ovation.
“How did you get in here?” Augustus rushed to the
door to holler for help, only to be stopped by one of Quasi’s bodyguards. The other man ran and cowered in the corner.
“Kona! My dear friend. We have much to talk about.”
The slaver eyes dark and cold, stared at the man who had betrayed him. Augustus nearly peed in his pants, as he was brought
over to his bed and thrown on it..
“Quasi! I-I.....!” Quasi waved his hand to quiet him.
He took the seat Augustus had been sitting and sipped of the wine. Then made a face of disgust.
“I have never understood how you aristocrats eat and drink
such nasty stuff and call it cuisine.“ He mocked Augustus. Then he turned his gaze on Kona.
“Augustus is right. Your mouth is going to be the death
of you. But also the death of you, Augustus.” He turned back to the wimpy man on the bed.
“Why me. I didn’t tell Kane anything. You should no
me better than that. I have more to lose than any of you.” Augustus was feeling his courage return. Quasi got up from
the chair and walked over to the man.
“More than my life?” He simply asked. Augustus stared
at him for a moment, pondering how you can compare material things to a life. He turned away from him, knowing his mouth had
over stepped its bounds.
“I didn’t think so.” Quasi turned from him and
set his attention on Kona. He gestured for one of the guards to bring him to the seat he had sat in. Kona was shivering from
fear.
“You have caused me great pain. I can’t go back there
again. In fact I must run for the rest of my life. Because you sent the Dark Prince to me, I had no choice but to tell him
of the country I capture the maiden.” Quasi informed his partner. Kona’s eyes grew large. Augustus could see there
was something between the two he didn’t know.
“What is all of this about?” Augustus finally finding
his voice.
“It’s all about a certain purchase that passed from
my hands to Kona, then to yours. Where is she?” Quasi looked from Augustus to Kona. Augustus found some courage.
“If you’re talking about that slave I bought today,
The Dark Beauty. Then you can forget it. She’s mines and no one else’s.” Augustus took a stance. Quasi laughed
at his spunk.
“Will you be so brave if you knew she was the daughter of
the Great Chieftain of the East? Who by the way, is at this moment heading this way to reclaim his daughter.” Quasi
looked at Augustus, enjoying the facial distortions at the news. They were priceless.
“You lie. You just want her for yourself. You know how special
she is and feel you could get a better price for her.” Augustus decided to call his bluff. Quasi walked upon him, his
face inches from Augustus’.
“I tell you what, fool. You can do what you want. I actually
came here to kill Kona. But now that I am here, I have changed my mind. I think the punish will be fitting. Let’s go
and leave these two to their fates.” Quasi turned away, leaving the way he came. Slipping out of the castle like the
thieves they were.
Augustus went to the balcony to make sure they were really gone
before he said anything. They were to swift to be spotted. The had vanished into the night. Never to be heard from again.
He took a deep breath
“You knew when you sold me the girl, she was of royal blood?”
Augustus ran toward Kona, who quickly left the chair and reclaimed his corner.
Chapter Seventeen
Kane and the Great Chief moved closer to the Dark Realm. They
would just make it by morning. About the time Augustus should be coming out of his sleep. Everyone who had played a part in
this abduction will pay dearly.
“It would be a relief if the young woman is my daughter.
You have no idea what a burden this has been on me. She is all I have since the death of her mother.” Jared revealed
to Kane. He knew of the death of Isis. It was a bad time for the Chief. Hopefully this time will par out to have a happy results.
“Your brother the Dark Lord. He has no idea, he is to marry
my daughter?” The Chief asked Kane.
“No, but if my suspicious are right. I don‘t think
that will be a problem.” Kane remembering the moment those two shared on the dance floor.
“Augustus! Stop! Look we have more pressing things to worry
about than you trying to kill me. From the look in his eyes. He wasn’t lying. The Great Chief heads this way.”
Kona was scared to death. Augustus regain his posture.
“You two don’t know what you have done. Our Dark Lord
was to be betroth to the Great Chief’s daughter tonight. No wonder he pulled out, due to an great emergency. Not only
have you kidnapped the fiercest man alive daughter. But you have ruined what was suppose to be a special occasion for the
Dark Lord.” Augustus took the small glass of wine and downed it, pouring another to figure this mess out.
What are we going to do?” Kona asked. He was shivering all
over. Augustus looked over to him with and idea.
“I intend to do nothing. How could I have known what you
two had done? After all I was swindled too. You sold me the Great Chief’s daughter.” Augustus walked over to the
bedroom door, slowly opened it. Then the next thing he did came unexpectedly. He pulled a knife from his pouch and stabbed
himself in the arm.
“Guards! Guards! Guards help me!” He yelled out loud.
Kona moved backwards fearing for his life. The guards arrived quickly. A couple stopped at the door to assist Augustus. Three
others passed him, running to Kona. He fell to the ground trying to shield himself. One hit him in the head with the butt
of his sword, knocking him out. Augustus laid on the floor, viewing the scene. He secretly smiled.
Marcus was holding Allyia when he saw the men exiting the balcony
of Augustus. He hadn’t seen them come in, due to his back had been turned away and also preoccupied with Allyia. He
was going to see what was going on when he spotted Augustus coming out onto the balcony, he swiftly moved into the shadows,
pulling Allyia with him. Something was afoot. Whatever it was, it wasn’t good.
Then he heard the outcry of Augustus. He looked at Allyia, brought
her into the room. He sat her onto the bed. He heard the pounding feet of his guards. He had no idea what was going on. He
felt it had to do with the persons leaving his room via balcony. He gave her and reassuring look and rushed to the door to
investigate the commotion.
“What is going on here?” Marcus entered the room to
see the unconscious Kona being dragged from the room. Augustus was being attended to by the house physician. Augustus jumped
at the sight of the Dark Lord.
“Master I am so sorry to disturb you. But this man came
into my room and try to attack me.” He said convincingly. Marcus looked around the room, as if searching for something.
Augustus took noticed.
“Oh yes Sire. The slave has also escaped. I think those
two were in cohoots.” He added. He wanted to cast doubts on her in case he had designs on her. Marcus nodded his head.
Without a word turned and walked away. Augustus could see his plan worked well. Not only did he get rid of Kona. He will keep
her away from the Dark Lord.
Allyia sat on the bed, waiting for Marcus. Her eyes pinned to
the door. That’s why she never heard the person entered the room from behind her. Grabbed her, covered her head with
a bag and carried her out of the room.
Marcus walked to his room, thinking if he had been fooled buy
the beauty of this woman. Could it be she was playing him all this time? And yet there was something she was holding back
from him. Was it true she may know these people who tried to kill Augustus? It could have been a plan all alone to get to
him. Augustus’s words had a effect on his mind. He opened the door to confront her. Only to see a vacate room.
He quickly closed the door behind and ran searching through the
room. Softly calling her name. He ran out on the balcony, searching the grounds. She was gone. What could he do? He couldn’t
call for the guards. Then they would know he had harbored an escaped slave. Then Augustus words played in his mind. ‘I
think those two were in cohoots.’
Chapter Eighteen
Marcus paced the floor confused and bewildered. How could he have
been so wrong? He prided himself for having very good instincts about people. And yet the words continued to ring in his ears,
whenever he tried to doubt she had used him to escape:
“I think they’re in cohoots.”
“NO!” He yelled. Clearing his mind.
“She wouldn’t do that to me. I know she loved me.”
His voice above a whisper. His mind wondered back to a few minutes ago before he walked out of the door. When they embraced.
Locked in the deep kiss. How her mouth tasted. His tongue exploring her mouth, down her throat. How she surrendered herself
to him. And how they became one with each other. Their hearts beating as one.
“No! This is a mistake. Something isn’t right with
all of this.” He went out onto the balcony. Looking over the city and searching for some clue. His eyes roamed over
to Augustus’ balcony. He remembered the persons exiting his room via the balcony. Just before the attack. He saw a movement
just beyond the shadows. It was Augustus retreating back into his room.
“I think I will pay him a visit. Something doesn’t
sit right. And I think my deceitful advisor may have the answers I need.” Marcus moved swiftly from the balcony and
out the door. He was at Augustus’ room in seconds. He pound on the door. Augustus answered wearily.
“Master! What do I owe this honor?” He bowed before
him, trying to con his way out of a very bad situation.
“No honor is involved in what has happened tonight. You
said something that struck as being weird.” Marcus walked passed him to one of the chairs by the small table. He then
turned the chair to face Augustus. And sat down in it.
“I’m going to ask you a few questions. How you answer
them will be a life or death situation. Do we understand each other? Marcus asked, eyes dark as coal. Augustus moved to his
bed, sitting on the foot of it.
“Why yes Master. Whatever you want. I will try to answer
in the best of my ability.” Augustus voice trembled. He knew his life was hanging on a slender thread. Maybe he played
the co-hoots card wrongly. He should have just left well enough along.
“What was Kona doing in your room this time a night?”
Marcus eyes never wavering.
“I told you Sir. I was attacked. He wanted the girl back.
Since he didn’t believe me when I told him she had escaped. He stabbed me.” Augustus was very nervous. He didn’t
like this at all.
“I thought you and Kona were friendly. I mean he always
saved the best of slaves to sell to you. You were his best customer. Why would he jeopardized that for a single slave girl.”
Marcus sat like a statue, eyes focus on the man. Augustus fumbled for a convincing story.
“Well yeah. But for some reason he felt he could get a better
price for her.” Augustus began to wring his hand. He could see Marcus’ eyes grow narrow.
“Why would he feel he could get more money for a common
slave?” Marcus ascended from the chair, slowly made his way over to Augustus. The man cast his eyes to the ground. He
had heard of this method of Marcus. But had never been in a position to experience it. Until now.
“Sir. It has been a long night. I have been attacked twice.
Once by the slave now by the slave seller.” He moved back from Marcus’ advance. Marcus stood still and tilted
his head to the side. As if he just realized something.
“Wait a minute. You said you felt they were in cohoots.
What gave you that idea?” Marcus stared him down.
“Oh. The way she disappeared and he showed up. I figured
it was a scam.” Augustus reaching for straws. Marcus was very intimidating when he wanted to be.
“Hmmm! Yet you just said he felt he could get more money
for her. Did he offer you your money back?” Marcus turned from him and walked slowly back towards the chair. Augustus
breathed a sigh of relief that he had turned away from him.
“Yeah. He did.” He answered quickly. Marcus stopped
and turned to face him. His eyes were flaring.
“Was he alone?” Marcus’ voice void of any emotion.
He now could see Augustus was lying.
“Yeah. He was alone.” He lied, not knowing Marcus
had spotted the men leaving the room.
“I will ask one more time. If you lie to me. It will be
the last lie you tell.” Marcus growled these words. Time was running out. Allyia could be in danger. He needed the truth.
“Sire. Please. I’m telling you as much as I know.”
Augustus. pleaded.
“Who were the three men leaving your room by the balcony?”
Marcus shot at him. Augustus gasped. He hadn’t counted on them being seen.
“Oh Master, please forgive me for my discretion. They threatened
my life if I told who they were. And why they had come” He ran and fell at Marcus’ feet.
“Who were they?” He asked.
“Quasi and his bodyguards.” Augustus cried out, weeping
at the Dark Lord’s feet.
“What did they want?” He asked, not being moved by
the man’s emotional breakdown.
“To warned Kona and I that we were in danger.” Augustus
felt it was time to come clean. Maybe the wrath of the Dark Lord would be less harsh as that of the Great Chief.
“Danger! By who?” Marcus voice a little louder than
it had been. His patience growing thin.
“Kane and the Great Chief are on their way here.”
Augustus began to crawl backwards to give some space between Marcus and him.
“My brother? What could bring the Great Chief here? And
why Augustus would Quasi, Kona and you be in danger from him?” Marcus was more confused with the inquiry than before.
“Oh have mercy on me Master. Please! I had no idea what
those two had done. Not until tonight. I framed Kona to free myself from suspicion.” Augustus fell prone on the floor.
Marcus was getting a very bad feeling. He didn’t think he wanted to hear this.
“I will promise you nothing. But this one thing. Tell me
why my brother left on an important trip. Only to return with the Great Chief at his side. And more, why is it going to cost
you three your lives?“ Marcus reached down and grabbed the man, picking him up by one hand and holding him up in the
air. Augustus let out a feeble yelped.
“His daughter. He comes for his daughter.” Augustus
could barely speak, due to the huge hand of Marcus’ at his throat.
Chapter Nineteen
Kane and the Great Chieftain continued their journey through the
night. Neither choosing to stop for rest. The need to get to the Dark Realm grew more important than their fatigue. And because
at the pace they traveled, their estimated arrival time were a few hours earlier than expected.
“Just a few more miles and we will see if the woman who
is slave to my brother’s advisor is indeed your daughter, Jared.“ Kane eyes fixed on the road ahead. He was anxious
to get home and tell his brother of all that had transpired.
“Though I hate she was kidnapped and sold like an commoner.
I would be happy to know she is there and not wonder where she is. Or if she is still alive.” His voice drifted for
fear this may be just an coincidence. And not his daughter at all.
“Jared, my dear friend. We can only keep a positive thought
it is her and she is safe at the castle.” Kane looked to his friend with caring eyes. Then back to the road, urging
his horse to speed up. His thoughts went back to the possibility Augustus had woke and took the girl. He sighed with an relief
as he though what a good idea to send ahead his messenger to warn his brother.
“Do you really think this was an good idea?” The messenger
asked the man standing near the bed where Allyia laid. The man stared him down.
“Yes! With what Master Kane had sent you to tell the Dark
Lord. I think it was a very good idea.” He walked over to the bed and stared down at the sleeping beauty.
“But he told me to give this message to the Dark Lord only.”
The messenger began to pace back and forth in the room. Fearing for his life. Until the man caught him in his forth motion.
“Listen to me. I have known both of these young men all
of their lives. I know them better than they know themselves. I promised their father I would protect them at all cost.”
His eyes were dark and slit. The messenger felt a chill run up his spine. There was a determination in the man’s voice.
And a dangerous devotion that should not be tested.
“Okay! I hear you. What do you want me to do?” He
asked, trembling.
“Nothing. We will wait for Master Kane to arrive. If she
is the daughter of the Great Chieftain of the East. I couldn’t allow Augustus to touch her knowing how my Master felt
for her. And knowing now who she may be. I couldn’t allow my Master Marcus to soil her. That would have cause a great
rift between the two lands. I hear she is already betroth to someone.” The man released the messenger. Who had a better
understanding of the greater picture.
“Yeah. I know what you mean now. I will help you anyway
you want me.” The man nodded his head and gave the man some instructions. He swiftly left the room, to do as he was
asked. Suddenly Allyia began to awake from her sleep.
“Don’t worry Princess Allyia. You are in good hands.”
He said as she began to shake off her daze.
“Jasper! You?” Her voice lazily exclaimed.
“His Daughter? His daughter is here? Where? Why wasn’t
I notified?” Marcus continued to grip Augustus’ throat.
“Sire, please!” He struggled to speak. He felt his
thorax being crushed. Marcus seeing this and the need to know who and where his the princess was, outweighed the need to choked
the life out of him. He released him. His body crashed to the floor with a huge thump.
“Now tell me why would you be in danger because the princess
has visited my city?” Marcus was losing his patience. And Augustus knew it too well. He rubbed his hand over the bruises
forming on his neck.
“Sire. You know who she is. You have seen and spoke with
her.” His voice was rasping. He could hardly get the words pass the sore throat. Marcus tilted his head, eyes fixed
on him.
“She was at my party?” He asked, trying to recall
anyone new in attendance. Augustus nodded his head. Marcus began to walk away from him, trying to envision all he had spoke
with at the party.
“She danced seductively for you. You were enchanted by her.”
Augustus finally realizing it was better to give him the answer than have him choke it out of him. Marcus spun around on his
heels. His eyes larger from shock.
“Yes Master. Allyia. Believe me when I say I didn’t
know. I didn’t know.” Augustus began to weep like a baby. No matter what his plead. He had did discover who she
was and tried to cover it up.
Chapter Twenty
Marcus was still in shock. He almost soiled a princess. And from
what the news about. She is supposedly to be betroth to some nobleman. Was that the secret she was keeping from him? Why would
she deceive him? What was she thinking? This could cause so much problems between the two lands. If it hasn’t already.
“Why weren’t you honest with me Allyia? Why?”
Marcus rushed from the room. Outside he met with the messenger.
“Sire! Your brother Kane asked that you take the young maiden
Allyia, who is a slave to your advisor. And put her under house arrest until he arrives.” He gave the message as given.
Marcus looked down at the lad.
“When will my brother arrive?” He asked. Voice void
of emotion.
“Not long Master. They’re not far behind me.”
He replied. Marcus stood silently for a few moments. Trying to figure out how to break the news the princess was no longer
in his custody.
“Sire!” The young man called to him, seeing the bewildered
look upon his face.
“Yes?” He still appeared confused.
“Is there a message you want me to take back?” He
asked.
“Huh?” Marcus had lost all reason. He had been kicked
double time in his gut. He didn’t know what to do about this mess.
“Is there anything you want me to take back to Master Kane?”
The young lad continued to see how confused his master seemed.
“What is there to tell him? We are in so much here. I have
no idea what to say. She’s gone and I can’t get her back. Not now, not ever. Too much not said. Too many secrets.
Too much! Too much! Too much!” He rambled on. The lad knew he had agreed to help Jasper. But not at seeing his beloved
Master losing it. Then he thought, what would Jasper do in this situation? He had shown him what faithful meant. So he did
what he thought was best.
“Master Marcus. Also there is something else I need to do.
Please come with me.” He began to walk away from the area they stood. Marcus followed, not knowing what else he could
do.
Augustus ran around the room gathering his things. He overheard
the conversation between Marcus and the messenger. He knew it will be a matter of time before Marcus regained his composure
and return to finish what he had started.
And even worst. Kane and Jared were nearly there. He was not going
to lose his life for some woman. He peeked out the door, seeing no one was in sight. Rushed down the stairs. He ran out into
the court and ordered his carriage to be brought to him. It took a few weary moments.
He told them he didn’t need a driver and sped away. He didn’t
know he had been watched. Nor did he know he was soon followed as he reached the gates of the city. In the distance, he could
see the approaching caravan. He had made it just in the nick of time. So he thought.
“Jasper? You took me from Marcus’ room? Why?”
She sat up in the bed. Afraid, not knowing if he was friend or foe.
“Don’t fear me your Highness. I would do nothing to
harm you.” He reassured her. She relaxed a little.
“Your Highness? Then you know who I am?” She glanced
from the corner of her eyes.
“Yes! I intercepted a message to the Master. I could see
he was preoccupied. When I was told who you were, I had to intervene and explain to the Master later. I gather you had not
told him who you were.” He stated.
“No I didn’t.” She rose from the bed and began
to walk around to Jasper.
“Nor did you tell him you are already promise to another.”
Jasper’s eyes darkened. She could see his like for her was fading. But because she was of royal blood. There was nothing
he could do but give her the respect she was do.
“Why DON’T you answer him. ALLYIA!” Marcus voice
boomed into the small room, causing both Jasper and Allyia to jump a few feet off the ground. Both turned to face an Angry
Dark Lord. The messenger at his side.
Chapter Twenty-One
“Your Highness? Then you know who I am?” She glanced

Dark Lord. The messenger at his side.
“Marcus!” Allyia looked into his eyes and shrunk back
at the fury they held.
“I’ll repeat myself. Answer HIM!!” His voice
hard and cold. Never did she ever dreamed, after so much that they had shared. He would speak to her.
“You know who I am. Don’t you?” She cast her
eyes downward. She couldn’t stand to see what his eyes held for her.
Marcus slowly moved towards her. One foot placed in front of the
other. Jasper back his way into a corner. He knew he would be punished dearly for kidnapping the Princess from his Master’s
room.
“I will say this only once Princess of the East. You are
in my Kingdom. Therefore you are under my command. Answer him NOW!!“ Marcus towered over her. Their bodies just brushing
each other. Allyia never looked up to him.
“No Jasper. I never told the Dark Lord who I am. Nor that
I am promised to another.” She said this as the tears flowed freely from her eyes. Marcus swallowed hard, fighting back
the urged to take her into his arms and tell her everything would be alright.
“Jasper! You are confined to your room until I can deal
with you. Messenger! Go back to my brother. Give him this message. The Princess Allyia is well and safe. Tell him to meet
me in my meeting hall.” Marcus never looked to either Jasper or the messenger as he spoke. His eyes wondered blankly
around the room. Both men scurried out of the room without protest. Each relieved to be as far away as possible.
“Marcus........” Allyia started.
“DO NOT SPEAK, WOMAN!” His voice filled the room.
Allyia jumped, backing away from him. Her arm lifted, covering her face.
“You danced your way into my life. Seducing me totally.
You allow me to freely give you my heart. Knowing along you were never mines to have. What kind of temptress are you?”
His words ripped her heart like a knife.
She dared to look into his eyes, to see if this was the same man
who held her tenderly. Kissed her so deeply. Filled her heart as no other man would ever. But all she saw was an raging anger
in the place of that love. She try to flee the room. He grabbed her by the arm.
He placed his hands at each of her arms, raising her up to look
him straight in the eyes. She shivered in his grasp. Knowing he wouldn’t hurt her, but no sure. Then he let her go,
catching her in his arms before she could fall. His lips nearly touched hers.
“I should have took you like the seductress you are. You
toyed with me Woman. Somehow, someway. I’m going to make you wish you had never enter my heart.” Then he gently
settled her on the ground. Allyia grasped her heart. The only man she had ever loved, was lost to her. And now he had become
her enemy.
“You will follow me.” Marcus cold voice was unnerving.
But she did as she was told. They went into the large meeting hall.
“You will sit over there. Your Father is with my brother.
He will be free to take you back home. And to the one who is to have your hand in marriage.” Marcus took his seat in
his huge chair and silently awaited his brother’s arrival. Allyia’s heart was broken. There will be no marriage
to anyone. There were no reasons to live. Not without Marcus.
Chapter Twenty-Two
Kane rode ahead of the caravan as they slowly came over the hill.
The sun rising behind them, shedding a light on the situation. He could see a small dust of cloud rapidly approaching him.
It was the messenger returning. Somehow, Kane felt uneasy with the urgent way he was riding.
“Master Kane! Master Marcus sends you a message.”
The lad brought the horse to a screeching halt, dismounted, bowing before Kane.
“Yes!” Kane replied. The messenger tried to catch
his breath, from the trying to reach Kane before he entered the city. To warn him of what had occurred. his feelings were
confirmed.
“The Princess Allyia.......... is safe and well.”
The boy continued to regain his proper breathing. .
“Princess Allyia! You informed my brother of her identity?
I didn’t tell you to give that information to him!” Kane looked down at the lad. His eyes blazing. This wasn’t
good. He would keep The Chieftain outside the city until he could smooth things over.
“No! No, Master! I would never relay anything but what is
given to me. My father taught me that.” The boy said. Proud to be from a long line of messengers. Kane had to smile.
“Okay! I beg your pardon. But tell me, if you can. What
happened?” Kane looked to the city then back to where Jared waited his signal to end the journey.
“There was an incident at the castle. I ran into Jasper
the close Servant to the Master. He made me tell him what you sent to Master Marcus.“ The lad bowed his head with this
part of the information. Kane just let out a breath and waved him to continue.
“It appeared the Princess had escape from Master Marcus’
advisor. She was in Master Marcus’ room.” Kane held up his hand to stop him at this point.
“She was in my brother’s room? He harbored an escape
slave?” Kane dismounted. He took two steps forward and stared at the castle.
“From what I understand. And if I could be forward with
this......?” He hesitated, waiting for the go ahead.
“Yes please continue.” Kane voice quiet. He had hoped
his brother didn’t do what he thought he had done.
“Sire! It was a good thing she was with him. The slaver
who had sold her came to the room of the advisor and attacked him. But.........” The lad grew silent. Kane turned to
look at him. He could see there was something he was afraid to say.
“You said the Princess was well and safe.” Kane gray
eyes darken.
“Oh yes! Yes, she is safe. But Jasper and I took her from
the Master’s........room.” The young messenger’s voice trailed off. Kane tilted his head to the side. Then
understood.
“Jasper being who he is, took it upon himself to defuse
the situation until I arrived. Protecting my brother and our land from adversity. Old Jasper! Ever faithful!” Kane began
to chuckle.
“But there is more, Sire.” He said. Kane took in a
breath and exhaled.
“What?” Kane asked.
“Master Marcus didn’t get the information who she
was from me. Or Jasper. He already knew. And he is very, very furious with her for not telling him. Or not telling him she
was going to marry someone else.” Kane eyes enlarged. How did he know about the marriage?
“WHAT?” Kane’s voice nearly carried through
the desert. The boy jumped. This was the second time today he had to face an angry giant. “I need to find a better job.’
He thought.
“I caught up with him leaving his advisor’s room...........”
The boy began, but cut short by Kane’s outburst.
“DAMN! That sniffling slime. The slave seller must high
tailed it to tell Augustus the slave he sold him was a Princess, after I left him. He knew we were going to announced the
marriage arrangement between the Princess to my brother. He just didn’t know he had my brother’s soon to be bride
as his slave.” Kane began to analyze things. Kona knew who she was all the time. And Quasi. They will both pay for the
strife they nearly caused the two lands.
Chapter Twenty-Three
Meanwhile, Jared had witness the arrival of the messenger. He
waited as Kane talked to him. Got anxious as he watch Kane dismount. Clearly something was wrong. But he waited patiently
for Kane to come back and give him some news about his daughter. His heart slumped when he heard the outburst of Kane. Yet,
he waited for him. Until his anxiety for his daughter overruled.
“Kane my friend. I grew weary watching you receive the messenger.
Is there something wrong?” Jared rode up on the two. Kane turned quickly in his direction to face him. Regaining his
composure. He had to buy for more time.
“Everything is well with your daughter.” Kane gave
him the good new. The slave was her after all. Jared jumped from his horse and ran to Kane.
“It’s her?!” Jared couldn’t believe it.
“Yes Jared. It’s her.” Kane’s voice was
without emotion. Jared picked up on it.
“But there is a problem. I knew when you were so long with
the messenger.” Jared’s continence changed, fearing there was something about his daughter he didn’t want
to disclose.
“Nothing with the Princess. Lad! Go to the caravan for now.
You did good. I will inform your father. He should be very proud of you.” Kane said to the messenger. He smiled, mounted
his horse and rode to join the travelers.
“My brother knows Allyia is your daughter.” Kane watched
as the boy had made his way to the party. Then turning to Jared, told him. There was no other way, than to give it to him
point blank.
“What? How?” Jared stepped back.
“The slaver attacked the advisor. He must have told him
Allyia was your daughter, before he did. He must have asked for some get out of town money. When the advisor refused. You
know the rest.” Kane turned back to the city. .
“The advisor must have told your brother. Does he know about
the marriage arrangement?” Jared asked.
“The Advisor knew. But for some reason he didn’t tell
him he was to marry her. Are........“ Kane grew silent. The messenger said he was furious with her. Because she didn’t
tell him who she was. Or that she was to be married to someone. He was concerned for his brother. He knew what that meant.
His brother’s heart was broken.
“Jared! My friend. I must ask something of you?” Kane
turned back to his friend, with pleading eyes.
“Yes?” He answered.
“I need to go in town along. My brother needs me. I will
have your daughter escorted out to you. I will not asked you to wait to see her. I just need to take care of some things before
we continue with the arrangement.
“Sure! I will wait anxiously to see her. That is what is
important to me.” Jared patted Kane on the shoulder. He watched as he mounted his horse and rapidly rode away.
Jared breath a relief Allyia was safe. But being the older and
wiser person. Knew there was something Kane was omitting. He mounted his horse and returned to his group, ordering them to
make camp. They won’t being entering the Dark Realm as yet.
Marcus sat motionless. He never flinched. His body had joined
his heart and soul. Void of life. His eye veered straight ahead. They never wandered or blinked. But with all he was feeling.
It could not be compared to what was going on with Allyia. He had grown to love her in such a short time. She had loved him
for as long as she had known he existed. To be drawn so close. Only to be unattached.
Kane walked into the Hall. Three guards waited outside the door
for his command. He assessed the surroundings. This was worst than he thought. His brother had withdrawn into himself. And
the Princess wasn’t fairing any better. He walked over to his brother.
“Marcus! I’m going to send the Princess to her father.
Is that okay with you?” Kane stood before his brother. A glimpse of life twinkled in his eyes. He nodded his head in
answer. Kane beckoned for the guards to enter. Then he walked over to Allyia.
“Princess! Your father awaits you. He has been very worried
for your safety. Let’s not prolong his anxiety any farther.” Kane knelt before her, trying to make eye contacted.
But she kept her head cast downward.
Kane sighed loudly. The rose and planted his arm around her shoulder,
assisting her to her feet. She nearly slumped to the ground. He gather her up into his arms. She was lost to this world. He
ordered one of them to prepare the carriage. He would take her back to her father. Hoping this would not bring distention
between the two lands.
“Sire! Augustus took the carriage earlier this morning.”
One of the guards informed him.
“Why would he.........” Kane stopped. He didn’t
have time to get into this right now. He carried her out into the court and with his guards aid mounted his horse with her
in front. Followed by his three guards they took her out to her father.
“I’m sorry Jared.” Kane tried to mend what had
happened. Jared sat next to his daughter, saddened by her state.
“I must get back to my brother. He is no better off than
she.” Kane informed him. Jared eyes, filled with grief met with Kane’s. Kane nodded and left the tent. But unexpectedly,
Jared followed.
“Kane! Your brother. I gather he had fallen in love with
my daughter as you knew he would. What went wrong?” Jared trying to piece together the situation they had all found
themselves in.
“Trust. He felt she didn’t trust him enough to tell
him she was a Princess or that she would soon be married. With my brother. Without trust. There could be no love.” Kane
explained. Jared nodded, laid his hand on his shoulder, then went back into the tent to be with his daughter. Kane sighed
and glance up to the sky. Searching aimlessly for some help.
Chapter Twenty-Four
Jared sat at his daughter’s bedside. Sorry he had took this
route. But it was a planned pleasant surprise. How did he know she would be kidnapped and sold into slavery? Or that by coincidence
by sold to the advisor of the man she was to be married. And most importantly. The two would fall in love. Only by a misunderstanding
are they suffering.
“Allyia my daughter. You must come out of this. I have taught
you to be strong. Why have you given up so quickly?” She began to stir from her father’s voice.
“Ohhh! Daddy?” She whispered. Jared took her small
hand into his.
“Yes, my child. I’m here. You are safe now.”
He touched her hair.
“Safe yes. But without purpose.” She slowly opened
her eyes to look upon her father’s face.
“Yes, yes my dear. As long as you live. There is purpose.”
He continued to rub her hair.
“Not without my soul-mate.” She replied. Turning her
head away from her father. Not wanting him to endure the pain in her heart.
Kane returned to the castle. He found Marcus out in his garden.
His place of solace, when things weighed heavy on his mind. He knew this is where he would be, if he couldn’t be found
anywhere else.
“You want to talk about it?” Kane went over to the
brook that ran through the garden, staring at the soothing water.
“No! What difference will it make?” Marcus sat, leaned
against a tree. Playing with a flower. Kane nodded.
“Okay. As you wish.” Kane knew not to press his brother.
If he wanted to talk, he would.
“I gave her my heart on an platter. I held back nothing.
Because I thought she felt for me as I felt for her.” Marcus began.
“What made you think felt the same as you did?” Kane
asked, continued staring into the water.
“When we would looked into each other’s eyes. Our
souls embraced.” Marcus voice with some excitement.
“Could it have been she pretended to feel for you to gain
her freedom?” Kane replied.
“I had thought so. But then I remembered When we touched.
It was as we melted into each other. We became one.” Marcus trying to weigh everything without bias.
“Yeah, but that doesn’t prove anything. She could
still have been faking it. Kane knew the way to make his brother see things, is to contradict him. Then and only then would
he figure it out.
“And when we kissed. She surrendered herself to me wholly.
No she couldn’t have fake that. It was too strong of an attachment.” Marcus finally concluded. He jumped to his
feet instantly. Kane’s head snapped in his direction. Their eyes met and something secret passed between the two. Then
Marcus left Kane standing on the brook’s edge.
“Sire! I’m sorry but we must return her to our land
if she is to survive.” The old woman attending to Allyia informed the Chief. He looked over to his daughter who seemed
nearly dead. He turned and walked out of the tent, looking towards the city.
He had hoped Kane would have brought some news for them. He thought
for a moment. Then he made the decision. His daughter’s life was too important for him to endanger her. If Marcus hadn’t
been so bulled headed maybe thing would have been differently. But he wasn’t. And they didn’t.
“Everyone listen! We leave for home in the morning. Get
a good night‘s sleep.” He called out to his caravan. He went back in to his daughter. He feared she may not make
it to the morning.
“Hold on my darling Allyia. We’ll get you back home
to your surroundings. Then will you began to recover.” Jared’s heart was filled with such grief.
“Marcus!” She whispered before slipping deeper into
her sleep. The messenger had stayed behind with Jared’s people. He stood outside the tent, concerned for the princess.
He slipped away. To do what he does best. Deliver messages.
Chapter Twenty-Five
“Master Kane! She’s very sick. I can see that. I’m
sorry if I’m over steeping my bounds Sir. But I saw how angry Master Marcus was with her. And I saw how broken she was
because of it. Even now she knocks at death’s door.” The Young man informing Kane of the condition of
the Princess.
“They leave in the morning? That isn’t enough time.”
Kane paced the floor. Suddenly a commotion could be heard outside the room Kane met with the messenger. Kane went to investigate,
with the messenger bringing up the rear.
“So you are here huh? Where is she?“ Jared pointed
to the lad. He backed up hands up in the air shaking his head.
“Jared! Who? And what are you accusing my messenger of?”
Kane stood between Jared and the young man.
“My Daughter is missing. She was there and after he left.
She was gone. Right about the same time I gather he tried to slip away from the caravan unnoticed. Why did you have to sneak
off?” Jared was furious.
“And why did you feel the need to leave without letting
me know you were going? My friend!” Kane said this with some sarcasm. Jared snorted then looked away from Kane.
“We have very good Medical persons who would be willing
to help Allyia. Much more sensible than dragging her across country. Don’t you think?” Kane continued. Jared eyes
softened. But his anger still simmered within.
“Maybe so. But she is gone. Neither yours or mine medical
persons will be of any help if she isn’t found.” Jared was growing weary. Kane could hear it in his voice.
“Augustus! He stole a carriage before our arrival. No one
knew where he had went to. He must have laid wait and took her. He was obsessed with her. SOUND the Alarms. Sent out an search
party for the Princess. I feel if we find Augustus. We’ll find the Princess.” Kane called to the guards, then
turned to Jared.
“I will accompany your men. When I find that scum, his head
will no longer be part of his body.” Jared turned and moved to the courtyard to join in on the search for his daughter.
Marcus’ lips softly touched hers. His tongue moved into
her mouth, exploring the silk soft lining. She groaned with the sensation spreading through her body. His hand caressed her
breast, hardening her nipples. She moaned.
His tongue left the lining of the mouth and moved down into her
throat. Her body began to move where it laid. His hand moved from her breast and down her abdomen, to her soft mound, parting
her thighs. She felt as if she couldn’t contain herself with the anticipation.
He found her warm and wet, as he began to play with the small
organ protruding from the dark patch. His finger played with it like an finger plucking an guitar. Her hips bucked. He was
driving her wild, slowly. patch.
He exited her mouth and slid down her cheek, stopping momentarily
to place a gently peck. Then he continued downward to her ear and began to nibble slightly. Next he moved behind her ear to
her exposed neck, sinking his teeth, without breaking the skin and began to suck. All the while his finger and moved into
the warm wetness. She began to moan out loud. Causing her to leave the dream world and slip back into her unconscious state.
Princess Allyia laid under the fur, warmed by the near by fire.
She was oblivious to her surrounding. She moaned and groan. Until she let out a loud moan as if in pain. He moved beside her,
rubbing his hand over her long black air.
“What dreams do you dream, my dear Allyia” He asked,
ignorant to the desire that filled her heart. The need to be fulfilled by the only man she would ever love.
“Jasper! Where is my brother? He had that look in his eye
and now he has vanished. He must know that the Princess Allyia has disappeared.” Kane standing in the doorway of his
brother’s room. Jasper looked away with a smile on his face. At last Master Marcus has chosen to follow his heart.
Chapter Twenty-Six
“How much can a man bare. I had my daughter within my hands.
Only to have her snatched away once again.“ Jared walked into the hall Kane sat, concerned for his brother’s whereabouts.
The search party returned without any luck.
“I gather you didn’t find her. So you will know. My
brother is also missing. I wonder what does this mean? I fear this is the works of Augustus.” Kane rose from his seat.
“No my friend. Not this time. We found Augustus. not far
from here. He will do harm to no one every again.” Jared informed Kane. Kane’s eyes widen with surprise.
“Then this is no good. That would mean Quasi has a hand
in this. Which means there is a greater urgency to find both my brother and the Princess.” Kane rushed passed Jared.
“No Kane, no need. Quasi has been dealt with also. I knew
Augustus was dead this afternoon. He was followed out of the city and slain by Quasi. My guards sent ahead, in turned took
them away to do what I had commanded. None will be a threat to anyone ever again.” Jared told Kane. His eyes grew large.
He didn’t know if to be angry or not.
“If that is so. Where are my brother and Allyia. More importantly,
with who?” Kane stared at Jared for an answer. He shook his head lazily. He hoped his daughter wasn’t in any danger.
Allyia slowly began to regain consciousness. Her eyes were blurry.
She felt weak. She could feel her body coming awake. The fur was warm and soft next to her skin. There was another warmth.
A fire nearby. Her eyes slowly began to focus in on her surrounding. She could se she was in a small cave. She tried to left
herself up.
“No! Lie still. You’re still weak.” The deep
voice touched her ear. She closed her eyes. Daring to look in the direction it came. She had a dream like this before. She
didn’t want to trick herself again.
“What’s wrong Allyia? You hungry? Is it warm enough
for you?” The voice appeared to have moved up behind her. She still feared if she turned around, she would wake up.
Then she felt hands pulling her into a body. Bringing the fur up around.
“There my love. This will keep you warm. You’re going
to be just fine now. I’ll see to it.” She felt the warm breath on her ear.
“Marcus? Am I dreaming? Or is it you holding me?”
Allyia’s voice soft and frail. The hands turned her gently, so she could look into his face.
“Touch me and tell me. Is it me or a phantom that holds
you close to him.” Marcus answered. Her small hand weakly moved to feel his face. He cradled her hand in his and kissed
it softly.
“Marcus! On my Marcus!” She said with such effort.
Thought of losing him was to great for her.
“Oh God, Allyia! Can you ever forgive me. I love you darling.
Please forgive me for my anger. I know now you were trying to spare me. I just...” Marcus held onto her. He couldn’t
let her go. He didn’t want her to go.
“Oh my Love! Please do not hate me.” She touched his
lips with her finger.
He bent down and covered her mouth with his own. He kissed her
deeper. Their souls were already joined. She surrendered to him. He tried to release her but found he couldn’t. Then
he knew. With all that she had withheld from him. Her love and heart was his to keep.
Chapter Twenty-Seven
Kane laid in his bed, staring up at the ceiling. He was very concerned
with the disappearance of his brother and the Princess. At first he thought maybe Augustus had fled with the Princess, fearing
retribution for his part in her abduction.
But Jared said he was found dead. So that ruled that idea out.
Then he felt maybe Quasi had taken both her and his brother. But Jared’s guards had dealt with him and his crew.
‘So where are you Marcus?’ He thought. A knock at
his door brought him out of his concentration.
“Come in!” He yelled to the visitor, as he continued
laid stretched out. It was Jasper with his morning breakfast.
“I thought since you didn’t come down to dine. I would
bring your meal up to you.” Jasper said as he set the tray on the small table on the balcony. The aroma of the food
snuck into Kane’s nostril, reaching his stomach. Which in turn began to growl to be fed.
“I’m not hungry Jas. I’m to concern about my
brother. Where in the Hell could he be?” Kane turned over until his side, rethinking the not hungry statement.
“You would know better than anyone, Master Kane. I use to
remember how Master Marcus would always run away and hide whenever things were to hard for him to deal with. And you would
always find him and convince him to return home before he would get into trouble with your parents. Remember?” Jasper
stop what he was doing and looked at Kane. Kane thought back.
“Yeah he would always find a nice spot in the garden. But
I’ve already checked there. And ALL of his secret hiding places.” Kane sighed and sat up, feeling his stomach
would kick his butt if he didn’t put something in it.
Jasper looked out pass the court towards the hills. Kane took
a sausage from the plate and chow it down before taken a couple more. That’s when he noticed Jasper was silently staring
at something.
What is it Jas?” Kane asked. He turned towards him, slightly
smiled.
“Not ALL Master Kane. You haven’t looked in All.”
He said and walked from the balcony leaving him to his breakfast and thoughts. Kane walked to the railing of the balcony and
his eyes searched for what was so intriguing to Jasper. Then his mind went back to a time when Marcus and him were young.
“Yes! I got’cha Marcus.” He yelled then quickly
covered his mouth looking around to see if anyone had heard him.
Jasper was making his way downstairs when Jared entered the huge
doors leading into the castle.
“Where is Kane? It’s important I speak with him.”
Jared seemed very disturbed.
“Your Highness. He hasn’t come down as of yet. Would
you like to wait in the study. I’ll inform him you are her.” Jasper replied. Jared nodded his head and allowed
Jasper to lead him to the study, taking a seat to wait for Kane.
The wait wasn’t long before Kane came quickly to inform
him of the possibility of where his brother may be. But he was cut short form the expression on his friend’s face.
“What is it Jared? You look like someone died. Oh no! It’s
not Princess Allyia?” Kane felt his heart jumping out of his chest. He felt Marcus being the person he was, may have
took Allyia away to keep her form marrying the noble. But if something has happened to her. What has happened to Marcus?
“No, I still haven’t any word on her whereabouts.”
Jared eased his mind.
“Oh good. I thought maybe......” Kane didn’t
want to allow the words to be spoken.
“Well. You may not breath so easy when I tell you what I
discovered.” Jared gestured for something to drank. Kane quickly poured it for him. Now he was getting this very uneasy
feeling.
“What is it Jared. I have the feeling this is very, very
bad.” Kane poured himself a drink too.
“Remember when I told you Quasi was dead?” Jared threw
back the drink in one gulp.
“Yeah!” Kane eyes fixed on Jared.
“It was a mistake. The bodies were identified. None to the
men were him. He somewhere out there. And it’s a GREAT possibility he has my daughter. Kane slowly eased the glass to
the desk. He paused for a moment, never saying a word. Then he turned and walked to the double doors of the study. Marcus
is out there somewhere. No he knew exactly where. And if his suspicion is right. Allyia is with him also.
“And Kane. I think he has a band of thieves in the surrounding
hills somewhere.” Jared added.
“Hills? Which hills?” Kane asked.
“Some that know of him said to the further North.”
Kane looked to the north. Oh Good. Kane thought. Marcus discovered a nice little cave to hide, in the North Hills.
Chapter Twenty-Eight
Marcus laid on his side propped up on his arm, watching Allyia
resting. He noticed her breast, as it rose and fell, with each inhale and exhale. He had decided after weighing everything,
to follow his heart. So he snuck away from the castle to the camp site of the Great Chieftain to talk to her into forgiving
him for doubting her love for him. But when he got there she was too ill. So he waited for her father to leave and carried
her away to his secret cave.
But he won’t come looking for him to soon. By that time
they should be back home. He planned to persuade the Chief to allow him to take her hand in marriage. It will take some convincing.
When an agreement has been made. You have to honor it no matter what. Maybe he could duel for her. But he has no idea who
was this other nobleman.
Marcus decided to go get some food he had packed off the horse.
He stepped out into the morning sun. His eyes shrunk from the bright light. Then he felt a sharp pain course through his head,
just before darkness claimed him.
Allyia turned over in the pallet she had been sleeping. Her arm
rested on the warm spot Marcus had been laying. Her eyes widen as she search the cave for her Love. He was nowhere insight.
She lifted herself up from the bedding and headed for the bright light at the end of the cave.
Her eyes squinted from the sunlight. She covered them with her
hand, shading to see better. Once they had fully become accustomed to the brightness. She could see clearly. But sadly it
would have been better if she were blind for the sight before her.
“MARCUS!!”
“I don’t want to alarm you Jared. If what you say
is true. My brother and your daughter are in grave danger.” Kane rushed passed him and summoned the high Guard. Jared
followed closely behind him.
“What do you know Kane? I demand you tell me now.”
He feared Kane was on to something.
“I need you to gather your men. I know where my brother
is and your daughter. I pray we find them before Quasi. He will seek revenge on both of us with the ones we love the most.”
Kane replied as he rushed out to the courtyard watching as the High Guard assembled the soldiers for battle.
“Kane! Does your brother have my daughter?” Jared
grabbed Kane’s arm and spun him around to face him. Kane stared long and hard into his eyes. Dreading to tell him the
truth.
“Yes.” Is the only thing that he could say. Jared
eyes grew large and dark with anger.
“How long have you know this?” Jared snorted this
out.
“Just this morning. I remember something form our childhood.”
Kane could see Jared restraining himself.
“I will go get my guards. If my daughter is harmed because
of your brother’s foolery. You know the rest.” Jared turned and sent his First Guard to prepare the others for
combat. Kane cast his eyes to the ground. Marcus what have you done? He thought.
Marcus laid chained to a 2x4, his arms where in his back draped
over the board. He was seated on the ground, just coming out of his unconsciousness. Behind him stood several men. Thieves
and cutthroats from what she could see.
“Princess! Good you could join us.” The voice came
up from behind her. Causing her to jump slightly in the midair and turning to face the owner.
“You!” She was in shock. She began to back up. This
was the one who started this whole ordeal.
“Yes me. Oh don’t be afraid of me. This time I will
sell you far away where no one knows who you are.” Quasi threaten.
“LEAVE HER ALONE!” Marcus gather some strength only
to be hit in the head by the one of the men standing guard over him.
“Show some respect for our great leader.” The man
snarled.
“Be careful Lazarus. You just hit your the Dark Lord. Ruler
of this land. The man made a step backwards, looking at Quasi with surprise. Not knowing if he was kidding or telling the
truth.
“Oh but it’s true. It’s damn true.” Quasi
laughed loudly, sending an echo spreading outwards.
“Did you hear that?” Kane’s keen ears could
hear a dog’s whistle.
“No I didn’t hear a thing.” He snapped. Still
angry of the venture these two brothers had place his daughter and himself in.
“Well I did.” He raised his hand to halt the group.
He wanted to see if he could distinguish where it orientated. Nothing else could be heard. He gestured for them to move onwards.
“Quasi! There is a huge army headed this way.” One
of his look outs came running inot the area.
“I see your brother wasted no time in coming to your rescue.
Well to bad he won’t find you. Let’s get out of here.” Quasi ordered his men. Two of them lifted Marcus
up on his feet and led him away from the area.
Allyia ran to him placing her arm around his waist and walked
beside him. One of the men pulled her away as she struggled to get back to Marcus. Quasi waved his hand to the man to let
her go to him. He slightly smiled at the two, then felt an ache in his heart for one he had lost long ago.
Chapter Twenty-Nine
“They were here. Now they’re gone.” Kane emerged
from the cave carrying the fur bedding. He looked lost as he held it in his hand.
“Master Kane. There were many here with them. They headed
further North. Into the Dreds country. That is a very dangerous land to go through.” The scout informed him.
“What else do you see?” Kane walked over to where
he was searching the ground.
“Look! Smaller footprints. A girl or small woman I would
say. Oh and she walks by a giant. Hmmm.” The man said studying the ground.
“Hmmm, what?” Kane’s frustration taking over.
“The man seems to be dragging his feet as if he’s
hurt or carrying something.” The man looked up to Kane. Kane turned his gaze up to the sky. It was getting dark. It
has to be decided if they should follow or go back and resume the search in the morning. If they do go back, it would give
the captures a greater distance on them.
Jared eyes never left Kane. He could see he was greatly concerned
for his brother. One thing they knew. Both were alive. And that was a big relief. But how long is another question. Jared
dismounted his horse and walked over to Kane, gently placing an kind hand on his shoulder.
“What are your thoughts old friend?” Jared was old
and wise. He knew to keep the anger will only add to the pressure of the search and decisions to be made.
“They have a huge jump on us. Do we continue with what we
have and allow them to get further away? Or do we continue on and try to overtake them?” Kane looked to Jared. He nodded
his head. A good question.
“Send the scouts ahead. They are gifted in following. Send
a special group back to get provisions. It appears it’s going to be a long and dangerous journey. Evidently, Quasi hasn’t
ventured too far North or he would know not to travel in the land of the Dreds.” Jared said to Kane.
“You have knowledge of this land?” Kane asked. He
nodded his head.
“I have heard of it from travelers who were lucky to survive
the journey. They are dark creatures with tentacles protruding from their heads. And they are fierce fighters.” Jared
explained to Kane.
“Are they magical creatures?” Kane asked.
“Let’s see. I guess they could be that. In fact, it
is a land of Magick, I hear. I will send the scouts ahead. They‘ll know what to do.” Jared sat on a rock and beckoned
for the scouts.
“Oh no.” Kane whisper. But Jared heard him and ordered
the scouts to continue the tracking. Then he turned to Kane who seemed desponded.
“What is it my Friend?” Jared asked.
“Marcus!”
Allyia stayed close to Marcus as they moved further away from
the Dark Realm. Nearing the borders of the Land of the Dreds. It was growing dark, but they continued on. Quasi had no idea
where he was leading the band into.
Allyia kept her arms around Marcus, looking up into his eyes every
so often to make sure he was alright. He looked back into hers. Something was different about his eyes. She didn’t no
what. But there was something.
Chapter Thirty
“What is it Kane?” Jared could see that Kane was truly
upset about something.
“We must leave NOW!” Kane moved pass Jared quickly.
This didn’t sit well with the man. His daughter was out there. And Kane knew something.
“You listen to me. You will tell me what is going on. My
child is out there for God’s sake.” Jared grabbed Kane’s arm twirling him around with a strength he didn’t
know he possessed. Kane stared at him with anger for a moment. Then realized he was truly concerned for his daughter’s
well-being.
“We don’t have time for this Jared. Night is falling
and their heading into a Magical land. A place my brother shouldn’t be.“ Kane explained. Then turned and mounted
his horse.
“You are scaring me.” Jared looked up to Kane. And
in his eyes, Jared could see he was just afraid.
“And as well you should be. We must not waste anymore time.
Let’s go!” Kane yelled to his soldiers.
Quasi moved across the border into the land of the Dreds. The
sun had sunk behind the horizon. Leaving the moonlight to shine on the small band.
“Let’s camp here for the night. Kenya sent two to
look out for us. We don’t want any surprises.” He ordered his lead guard. Quasi turned his attention over to Marcus
and Allyia sitting down near a huge Rock. Something was strange about Marcus’ appearance.
“Marcus my love. What’s wrong with you? You don’t
look well.” Allyia asked one of the guards if she could have some water for him. The guard looked over to Quasi, he
nodded okay.
“Allyia. We must get out of this land. Nothing good will
come of us being here.” Marcus could barely speak.
“Shhhh! My love. Everything will be alright. My Father and
Kane will find us soon. I know they will.” She gentle rubbed a wet cloth over his face. Marcus weakly try to swat her
hand away.
The Dreds began to stir. Someone had invaded their land. They
signaled to each tribe. These intruders must be expelled from their land. An old one, set his face to the air. Yes, there
were those who didn’t belong in this land. But he sensed something else. Something more powerful then themselves.
“Leader! You must not go against these people. There is
a Great Evil amongst them.” The old Shaman entered the tent of the Head of the clan.
“What do you mean. Old One?” The leader had a lot
of respect for the Shaman. He was the last of his kind.
“He is old. He would let these creatures enter our land
without repercussion.” The Leader’s son spoke out.
“Forgive my son’s outburst. He is young.” The
leader gestured to his son to be quiet. The son snorted and folded his arms across his chest. The Old Shaman nodded to the
Leader. He knew of the hot headed one. And feared for this clan’s existence under his leadership if his father should
pass away.
“We would be safer if we would flee into the land. Far away
from this one as we can get.” The old one advised. The leader stood and began to pace. Never had Dreds fled from anyone
or anything.
“What message would we send to anyone else who decides to
invade our land? We are known for our fierceness. If we flee Father. It will be the end of our land as we know it.”
The Son jumped to his feet after hearing the words of the Old Shaman.
“Leader! It will be the end of our land even if we stay.
But one thing we will have is our lives.” The Old One eyes were held the Leaders. It was known then, the Old One was
afraid. And that’s something the Leader had never experienced.
“Very well Old One. We will move our people away from danger.
And live to fight another day.” The leader rested his hand on the Old ones shoulder. It shivered under his touch. His
heart paused for a moment. What is it that has the Old Shaman so petrified?
The Leader’s Son left the tent without noticed. He was an
warrior and nothing some old fool said about an Evil Greater than them. There is no evil greater than. He walked swiftly through
the village gathering his friends. The snuck out on the outskirts of the village.
“Look! We are Dreds. Everyone and thing fear us. We have
killed and destroyed other lands. Now these creatures have come into our land. What does my father want to do? Run because
the old witch has told him too.” He told the group. They began to mumble amongst themselves. Confused.
“I don’t get it. Why would we run from these?”
One of the young males asked.
“Because the Old fool knows my father will listen to whatever
he says. Well, I won’t. I’m going to come down on these as any others. They too will know not to enter the land
of the Dreds. Is anyone with me?” He looked around all that stood before him. A quiet came over them as them murmured
one to the other.
“Yeah! We’re with you.” The let out a war scream
as they ran to the horses, mounted them and left the village. All came out of their tents to see what was the commotion. The
Leader rushed out in time to see his son speed pass him with the riotous young Dreds behind him.
“Your son will not see the light of day.” The Old
Shaman relayed to the Leader, turned and walked away. Only to stop, feeling the atmosphere taking on a change.
Kane was riding fast, trying to get to his brother before it was
too late. Then he stopped quickly. Something was not right. The atmosphere was thick. The bright moon was slowly turning dark.
Clouds were forming. But they weren’t storm clouds. At least not the usual storm.
“We are near.” Was all Kane would say, before resuming
his pace.
Chapter Thirty-One
Allyia looked to the sky, listening to the rumbling thunder heading
their way. On the horizon the flash of lightening could be seen. The others in camp, noticed the change in the weather. The
moonlight was slowly vanishing. They were uneasy. She snuggled closer to Marcus, who was dead to the world. How could he sleep
at a time like this?
“I don’t like this Quasi.” Kenya walked over
to him, staring towards the approaching the storm.
“Yes. This is strange weather. Maybe this is the way it
is here.” He turned to his guard.
“I don’t think so. There’s something else going
on here. I can feel it in the air. The hair on my back is standing up. Maybe we should turn back.” Kenya trying to persuade
Quasi. His head snapped at a sound coming towards them.
“Kenya! There are many heading this way fast. I think they
are warriors.” One of the look out men rushed into the camp, pointing to the north.
“What do you know about the people of this land Kenya?”
Quasi strained to see if he could spot the warriors.
“They aren’t people Quasi. They’re things. They
kill without mercy.” Kenya informed him. Quasi looked into his eyes, seeing he meant what he had said.
“If we went back over into the Dark Realm, would they follow
knowing of the Dark Lord.?” He felt that would be a shot. As it was, they would be overtaken.
“We’re in their land. We are the intruders. They will
have to make a example of us.” Kenya told him. Quasi looked out and could barely make out the approaching riders. He
thought for a moment. Then decided to cut his losses.
“We’ll leave the Dark Lord and take the girl. That
will give us time to escape. He’s nearly an goner anyway. What do you think?” Quasi taking Kenya to the side and
whispering to him. Kenya looked over to the two. Allyia was looking at something to the south. Kenya looked in the same direction.
“Quasi! Look!” Kenya pointed to another group coming
from the south. Quasi had no doubt who was this group.
“Men, gather up quickly. We leave this land.” The
men scurried about loading their belongings on their horses. Allyia ran over to Quasi.
“You can’t go on the move. Marcus is too weak to make
the journey.” She pleaded with her capture.
“I agree. That’s why you will go with us and he is
staying here.” He grabbed her up, set her on his horse and mounted it, blocking out her cries.
The lightening had mysteriously moved at a great rate, hitting
the ground around the warriors. The horses bucked in fear. They were restless, because the storm had grew to great proportions.
Quasi could see they didn’t stand a chance in trying to
flee the warriors. He decided it was better to take his chances with Kane. He led his band straight towards the borders of
the Dark Realm. Hoping they’re army was greater than the fierce fighter in pursuit.
“Kane look!” Jared pointed to the small group running
for their lives.
“Are those the feared Dreds overtaking them?” Kane
turned to Jared. He nodded his head, fearing for his daughter’s life.
“Men! Attacked the army behind those heading this way.”
Kane commanded, as he prompted his horse to advance. The sky grew dark. The only light was the streaks of lightening bolts
ripping the ground. The clouds were heavy as if a downpour was eminent. The earth shook with the clap of the thunder.
Quasi heart was nearly jumping out of his chest. His evil deeds
were finally catching up with him. Why didn’t he learn about this land before he ventured into to it?
Allyia cried. Her heart was breaking for the loss of Marcus. She
knew by now some of the warriors had discovered him and ended his life. If the ones after them didn’t kill Quasi. She
will definitely see he dies a slow and painful death. Her heart grew hard.
The leader of the young Dreds sent most of his army after the
fleeing group. A few with him came upon the abandon camp. Save for one, Marcus.
“One intruder nearly dare to sleep or nearly dead. Whatever,
he will be gone from this realm.” The Leader said as he dismounted his horse and walked towards Marcus with drawn sword.
“Allyia!” Jared yelled, seeing his daughter sitting
in front of Quasi. The warriors were upon them. They were at the borders crossing over with the warriors close behind. They
would get to them before the army of the Dark Realm could intercede.
Suddenly, the earth shook with such an great intensity. The horses
reared to their hind legs in fear, sending Quasi and his group along with the Dreds to the ground. A great light exploded
at the campsite. Kane pulled his horse to an halt. Jared continued towards his daughter. As everyone else turned to see what
phenomenon was occurring.
“AHAHAHA!” Came a laughter from nowhere and yet everywhere.
Sending a chilling revelation throughout the hearts of all present.
“It is done!” Kane spoke with great sadness.
Chapter Thirty-Two
Suddenly, the earth shook with such great intensity. The horses
reared to their hind legs in fear, sending Quasi and his group along with the Dreds to the ground. A great light exploded
at the campsite. Kane pulled his horse to an halt. Jared continued towards his daughter. As everyone else turned to see what
phenomenon was occurring.
“AHAHAHA!” Came a laughter from nowhere and yet everywhere.
Sending a chilling revelation throughout the hearts of all present.
“It is done!” Kane spoke with great sadness.
Allyia sat frozen on the ground where she ended after the horse
had thrown Quasi and her. She listened to the laughter, feeling a dread within her. She slowly rose and turned in the direction
of the campsite, staring. Marcus needed her. Without notice, she took off towards the area.
“Allyia!” Jared screamed to his daughter. Kane saw
what was unfolding and started after her. Suddenly the young Dreds without their young leader spilled out of the campsite,
running pass Allyia. One took the time to stop and warn her.
“You don’t want to go that way.” Then continued
his retreat. Kane was almost upon her. Then what happened next went in slow motion.
A great lightening bolt hit the top of a rock. There in the spot
stood a familiar figure. Allyia stopped so abruptly she slid, losing her balance and falling flat on her butt. Ending beneath
the rock, staring into the face of someone she didn’t know. And yet, did. Kane pulled on the rein of his horse, holding
him back. The horse bucked. All eyes watched as the leader of the young Dreds dangled in the midair, upside down.
“Help me! Please Help me!” He cried fearing for his
life. Allyia stood once again to her feet, staring into the fierce green eyes that once belonged to her beloved Marcus. His
hair was coal black. And he was the embodiment of power.
“Marcus!” She called to him hoping he would recognize
her voice. He looked down at this little female who dare not to fear him.
“Who dare to speak to me without my permission?” His
voice rumbled, sending the horses in a frenzy. All except Kane and Jared fell humbling to the ground.
“Marcus my love. It’s me, Allyia!” She beseeched
him.
“Allyia. You are nothing to me woman. Just another insect
as this one I hold. I’ll show you what I do to those who do not respect me the All powerful Lord of Darkness.”
He turned his attention to the young Dred who sat out to destroy. But now finding himself coming to that very same end.
His eyes grew greener as if they were two light bulbs. The young
Dred felt his life force being sucked from him. Then out of nowhere a bolt of lightening hit Marcus in the back. Sending him
reeling forward, dropping the young Dred to the ground. No sooner hitting the ground the youngster rolled over and jumping
to his feet, fled to the mass across the border. Kane had slowly came up behind Allyia. Seeing Marcus distracted for that
moment. Clamped his hand over her mouth, picked her up, fighting him all the way and carry her to safety.
“We must leave at once. Further into the Dark Realm. We’ll
be safer there.” He said running pass Jared who was focus on Marcus at this time.
Marcus regained his composure quickly, turning to the attacker.
It was the Old Shaman, floating in the air, staff in his hand. The Leader of the Dreds led his army across the border to his
son and the other younger Dreds.
“Do you know who I am Old Witch Doctor?” Marcus voice
echoed with thunder.
“Yes! All that practiced in the arts no of you.” He
answered without fear. Why would he fear this powerful being who he knew he didn’t have a chance in Hell to defeat?
But it bought the time needed.
“Then you know what to expect next.” He was old and
had been a apart of many things. It was fitting he would perish saving others.
“Do what you must.” Is all that escaped his mouth
as the excruciating pain started from his abdominal and spread throughout his body, enveloping him until he was just a memory.
“AHAHAHA!” Marcus’ voice absorbed the Old Shaman’s
powers. As if he needed it. He turned to the feeble excuse called mankind. But he was angry when he saw they had fled deep
into the Dark Realm. A place he couldn’t enter if he didn’t want to revert back to the shell of a man he had become.
“RUN you creepy crawlers. RUN! I the Lord of Darkness has
returned.” Marcus called after them. All stood together, watching as the Old Shaman was destroyed. Kane and his army.
And the Dreds.
“Father. I’m so sorry I disobeyed you. And disrespected
the Old One. He saved my life. That much I owe him.” He couldn’t look up to his father.
“I know Son. You are young. One day you will lead the village.
If there is one to lead.” He looked passed Marcus, wondering how they will protect his village from this powerful being.
“Kane! Do you hear me, little brother. You will be mind!
Together we will rule the world. Bwahahahaha! Bwahahahaha! Bwahahahaha!” Marcus turned and with a blink of an eye, disappeared.
“My village is in danger. We never venture in anyone’s
land to conquer. We only protect our own.” The Dred leader approached Kane. Knowing he had to be the one who was in
charge.
“I’m afraid you are right. But there is nothing I
can do for you.” Kane stood on the rock, looking at the spot his brother once occupied.
“What do you mean, you can‘t help?” Allyia came
around to face him. Kane lowered his eyes to look at her.
“Just what I said.” Is all he would say.
“I thought you were good and kind. I guess I was wrong.
You would allow your brother to be possessed by some demon and not help him. Or allow innocent women and children to be destroyed
by him. Fine. I will go to him. My love will bring him back.” Allyia screamed at Kane turned and went to mount a horse.
“We will go with you.” The Dred Leader standing with
the two looked first to Allyia then to Kane with disgust. Then followed the head strong Princess.
She was just about to hop upon the horse’s back, when two
strong hand refrained her. Pulling her down off the horse.
“You are free to go and do whatever you have to do to save
your people. But no this, I am not heartless in this matter. It is better for me to stay out of your land as well.”
Kane informed the Dred leader. He stared for a long time, then he remembered something the Old Shaman told him.
“There is one, who has just as much power as the other.
But doesn’t realize it as yet. His fears are that he will be as the older. But he must make a great sacrifice before
he understands. He the key to the others redemption.”
“May you find your way through this. Before it is too late
for my people and I.” The Dred beckoned for his army to move out.
Kane watched as the Dreds marched onward courageously to protect
their own. He wondered if he was doing the right thing. But if he were to venture into their land. How long will he be able
to resist Marcus’ pull to the Darkside?
