Chapter One
Slow and painfully, she walked up the ramp and headed
out of the arena. It had been a grueling match, giving it her all. But it was a squash, as usual. Designed for her. Walking
pass employees in the back, who spoke words of encouragement, giving her their support. She was well liked and respected.
None liked the way the match had played out. And from the total silence of the crowd, neither did they. In comparison
to two weeks ago, when she made her surprised appearance.
Her music sounded and the crowd went wild as she came to
answer a challenged that had been given out. It almost made her cry, as the arena chanted her name. She waved her hand to
acknowledge them.
And when she miraculously won and ran out of the ring, up the ramp. Despite the constant interference
of the opponent’s sidekick. Caused the arena to explode. But tonight was different. They stood in shock as she was given
no offense and totally beat down by two.
She walked up to her dressing room and opening the door walked in, shutting
the door and world behind her. She shuffled her feet, making her way over to the bench in front of her locker. She sat there
for a few moments to gather herself. And thought of a decision she had made.
This would be her last show. She decided
that after her meeting with Vince McMahon. She had gotten fed up with how she had been used. Which hadn’t been much
except for putting other people over. She didn’t mind the ones who could actually wrestle. It’s the ones who couldn’t
fight their way out of a paper bag that pissed her off.
She began to unlatch her thick boots she wore, kicking them
off. Then she pulled off her socks and threw them in her duffle bag. She pulled her tank top off and her spandex pants.
She
unhooked her bra, tossing it in her bag also. Then she pulled her thong off, discarding it the same way. She grabbed a towel
and went into the shower, turning it on to the right temperature and allowing the water to flow over her beautiful well formed
body.
He had been watching the match. He grew angry when he watched the outcome. She hadn’t told him how this
would end. Because if she had, it would have been hell to pay. And who’s to say that still isn’t the plan. It
was scripted to end one way and changed that day.
He stood there in his dressing room and watched as the two cowards
made there way backstage, feeling full of themselves. But that was only for show. They too weren’t happy how it had
been changed. he flipped the monitor off and left his dressing room and went to see about the woman he had fallen in love,
few months ago.
He knocked on her door and not getting an answered, opened it and peered in. He didn’t see her,
but heard the shower going. He walked over and looked in, admiring the body he had made love to numerous times.
It
hadn’t always been this way between the two of them. They had always had the utmost respect for each other. Even before
she joined the WWE/F. He had known about her accomplishments and respected her reputation as an hard working. Which he experience
first hand by watching her put over a T&A and make her look like a good wrestler. All because Vince wanted to push her.
She had stormed backstage after a match with the other woman. Who had ripped her top off, exposing her well formed
breast. It was in the script. This one had a bad rep, as hard to work with. The fans went wild, while the other pranced around
the ring and swirled the top above her head.
Outside her dressing room, employees, formed. Things could be heard being
toss about in the dressing room and curses. No one dared to go in, as she was very well gifted in the martial arts. Mark made
his way down the hall way and stood behind all of them. He could hear the noise and swearing emitting.
It was okay
to let some steam off. hell he has done it many times. Sometimes he didn‘t wait to get backstage when the other wrestler
had done something he didn‘t like. He would answer them right in the ring. But enough was enough. They had a show to
finish. And she needed to calm down.
“Don’t you people have things to do. We still have a show to get
done!“ His voice boomed, causing them to turn and part like the red sea. The walked away, without rebuttal to him. He
knocked at the door. No answer. He knocked again.
“Leave me the hell alone!” She yelled from the other
side. He wasn’t going away that easy. he knocked again.
“I said get the hell away from my door and leave
me alone!” She creamed to the top of her voice.
“Jacqueline! It’s Mark! Let me in, please!”
He called through the door. Silence loomed in the room. And unnoticed by him. The other woman, Sable. Came up and planted
herself right in the path of the door, behind him.
The door slowly open to allow him in. She looked up at him, curious
to why he took the time to come to her dressing room. He smiled down at the tiny woman. Then her eyes caught sight of something,
the softness changed into rage. He saw this and followed her eyes, as his head turned to see Sable standing behind him, smirking.
Before he knew, Jacqueline had shot out of her room, like a bat out of hell and plowed right into Sable. Both went
flying with impact into the far wall. Jacqueline was on top beating the crap out of her. He would have been more than happy
to let her rip her apart. Now wasn’t the time, she would get her payback.
He moved towards the fighting women,
with the stilt of a lion and hooked his enormous arm around the tiny woman’s waist. He lifted her up and into him, kicking
and swearing. He looked over at Sable, sitting trying to recover. Some employees were assisting her to her feet.
“See
Sable! No matter how much Vince tries to make you seem a superior wrestler. Always remember, in reality you will always get
the crap kicked out of you by Jacqueline!” He turned away laughing and took her into her dressing room. Then closed
the door behind them, sealing them from the rest of the company.
“Promise me when I sit you down you will behave!”
he said, holding her small body close to his own. She relaxed as an answer. He gently set her down. She stalked away from
him, pacing back and forth. She would on an occasion, look over at the door. Which cause him to give her a look that let her
know, don’t even think about it.
“Oh I can’t believe this! Did you see what she did out there? Let
me go Mark! Please!” She continued pace.
“Nah, Jacqueline! You’re better than that. You know what
that’s all about. That’s just Sable’s way. Vince has put it in her head she can do anything to anyone.”
He tried to reason with her.
She stopped and let out a huge breath, standing with one hand on her hips and the other
across her forehead. She wasn’t looking at him as he stared at her profile. He liked what he was seeing. She was a tough
one. But he needed her to relax.
“Look! I know we hardly say much to each other. But you know me and I know you!
Right?” He began. She lowered her hand from her forehead and turned her head towards him. Curious to where this was
leading.
“Yeah! We know each other, even if we don’t interact much.” She confirmed. He nodded his
head and smiled.
“How about we go out on the town after the show. Wouldn’t you like to have some wild fun?”
She looked over at him with, raised eyebrows.
“No, not like that!” He laughed, reading her expression.
Not that he hadn‘t thought about it.
She began to laugh too. Yeah, that would be nice. She thought. She hadn’t
had a good tome in a long time. The last fool she had gone out with was abusive. But he didn’t know she could take care
of herself. But he found that out when he made the mistake to slap her during an heated argument.
“Okay! Sounds
good to me. I‘m going to shower and head out before I get in trouble. Can‘t damage McMahon’s little money-maker,
now can we?” She said, letting out a chuckle. He loved to see her smile.
Chapter Two
Jacqueline rushed in her hotel
room and threw things out of suitcases, in search of an outfit to wear to her night out with Mark. She found what she was
looking. She put on this nice little maroon tank top, showing the top of her full firm breast. A off white sheer button down
the middle blouse. Which she left opened, using like a jacket. Black leather pants and two inch heel boots.
She stood
in the mirror admiring herself and brushing her hair back, but leaving it down. She put in her two inch ear-ring hoops. She
applied just enough make-up to add to her enhance her looks.
She was nervous, but satisfied. She jumped from a knock
that came from her door. She quickly sprayed on some White Sands in the appropriate places and made a dash for the door.
“Hi
Mark!” She said opening and nearly running into him as she came through the door and shutting it behind her. Mark looked
down at her, pleased with what he saw in front of him. She gave him a long glance from head to toe.
He wore his long
auburn hair back in a ponytail. He had on a black dress shirt and black jeans, with leather boots. He wore a chain around
his neck. They then looked each other in the face, giving a thumbs up smile to the other.
He offered her his arm,
which she in turn hooked an arm in his. They headed for the elevators for, hoping to forget about that they were employees
of WWE/F for a few hours.
They went to a nice little restaurant ate and talked about many things, trying to get to
know more about each other. Each had heard off hand about the other, but never had they had the opportunity to have the other
to disclose anything about themselves.
Finished eating, they decided to go to a nice bar and get something to drink.
Jacqueline sat across the table from Mark, watching him walk away to order them a drink. She always liked the way he moved.
Smooth was the only thing that would come to mind.
He was leading over the bar counter ordering, when a tall blonde
came up to him and tried to pick him up. He was tried to be polite, by letting her know he wasn’t interested. He then
turned completely away and ignoring her.
She continue to say something to him and Jacqueline could see he was getting
angry. She pushed her chair back and was just about to leave it, when she saw his order had come through and he was making
his way back to her.
“I see you had a little problem there.” She said, looking pass him and at the bar.
He sat the pitcher of beer and mugs down on the table and looked at Jacqueline, observing the expression on her face. He sat
down in the chair across from her and looked over to the bar, seeing that the woman was staring at them.
“Nah,
just ignore her. We’re here to have some fun. And that we will.” he said, grabbing the pitcher up and pouring
the beer into each mug. Jacqueline smiled in agreement and took her beer filled mug up and took a nice sip from it.
“Here’s
to a evening of freedom!” She held her mug up, toasting. He leaned in and tapped her mug, then smiled as she nearly
gulped the rest down. His kind of woman, he thought and down his even quicker.
“So you dissed me for this?”
The tall blonde had made her way over to their table unnoticed. Jacqueline’s head shot in her direction. Mark leaned
back in his chair and glared at this woman. “I told you at the bar, I wasn’t looking for a date. What part
of that didn’t you get?“ He snapped.
“What I don’t understand. Why would you want her, when
you could have something like me?” She retorted, turning around to advertise the full package. Jacqueline was trying
to keep her composure. But this tart was really making it hard.
“What? A dumb bimbo? I’ve had my share
of them.” She stared at him then to Jacqueline.
“If you really think he wants you, then you’re really
delusional.” She turned to face off with Jacqueline.
“You’re all a like. You Barbie wannabes. I’ve
seen it over and over in my profession. You think every male out there would always want to be with the likes of you. Well,
maybe they would, for the good times. But at the end of the day, they will always chose to come home to something a little
more substantial. Now bug off, before I really start getting mad!” Jacqueline never blinked, when she spoke to the woman.
The woman stood for a few seconds, shaking all over. She stared down Jacqueline then looked over to Mark, who by now
was laughing his ass off. The woman turned and stalked away. She was furious. She went to the bar and slapped the counter,
ordering another drink. Looking over at the two laughing and talking.
“So tell me. What are your dreams?”
He asked, finally getting back to why they were there. Jacqueline stared at her drink for a few moments, then up to him.
“I’ll
tell you if you make a promise.” She toyed with him. He leaned in to her staring into her dark brown eyes. He hadn’t
seen them up this close for this period of time.
“Okay! I promise.” He told her. She stared at him, raising
her eyebrows.
“Promise you want laugh.” She said. He nodded his head and raised two fingers, eagle scout
style. She took in a deep breath and allowed it to flow from her.
“I would like to go into making movies. But
they have to action packed. I would like to show off my martial arts.” She said beaming. He liked to see her smiling.
“That’s
sounds like a good career move. Would you continue with the WWF?” He asked. She sat back in her chair, thinking.
“I
hadn’t thought much about whether I would or not. I guess it depends on what I would be doing in the company at that
time. Really not sure Mark!” She took her mug in her hand and downed it.
“That sounds fair enough. Here‘s
to you and your dreams.” He lifting his mug to her.
“Thank you.” She said and tapped his mug with
hers. They finished off the beer in their mugs.
“No problem.” He replied and poured the remaining beer
in each mugs. Jacqueline gave him a strange looked. He caught it as he brought his mug up to his mouth. He paused then sat
it down.
“What is it? I can tell you want to ask something.” He said to her. She shook her head, then ran
her fingers around the rim of the mug. She looked him straight in the eyes.
“How do you do it? How do you be
with this company so long, not to mention faithful and take Vince screwing you over time after time?” She let it rip.
Mark rested his arms folded on the table and looked away at nothing particular. He seemed to digest what had been asked of
him. And being the person he was, chose to help a fellow wrestler deal with the things asked of them, even if it didn’t
seem right.
“I’m going to give some advice to help you to stay with this company for a long time or until
you follow your dream. Don’t take it personally. You’re good and will be used in that capacity to get over people
who aren’t as talented as you, but are fan favorites.” He started. She listened intensely.
“Just
do your job and think of it as business. And most of all, don’t expect the push that others will get. It’s just
the way it is. Enjoy yourself and you’ll get through it just fine.” He finished and grabbed his beer up, pouring
it down his throat. Jacqueline took what he said to heart.
“Now can we go somewhere a little more comfortable?”
He stared at her with dark passionate green eyes. She felt something course through her body. It had been along time and tonight
just felt right.
“Sure! And maybe we can down some good stuff.” She smiled. He nodded. Yeah this beer just
wasn’t getting it done. Some good old JD should do it though, he thought. Jacqueline rose to her feet as he did. They
started towards and out the door, Mark’s hand on her back. Outside people were standing around and others were going
in and out of the building. They were moving to the parking lot when someone called out.
“Hey Undertaker!”
Mark cringed. He knew who it was. He stopped and turn to face them. It was the woman with two men. Mark became alarmed, pushing
Jacqueline behind him. She was tough, but not that tough. So he thought.
Chapter Three
“Umm! Mark!”
Jacqueline peered from behind Mark, watching as the tall blonde and company made their way toward them.
“I know!”
He said to her. She made a movement to come to his side, but he stretched out his arm and moved her back.
“Is
this the smart-ass who thinks he’s too good for you. Yet he has that little shit behind him. Mark flinched, Jacqueline
grabbed him gently on the arm and gave him a light squeeze. He stood steadfast, sizing up the two men.
“You too
good for my girl?” The older man asked. Mark stared him dead in the eye.
“Didn’t say I was too good.
Said I wasn’t interested. I have someone with me. And for the record. If you ever refer to her as a little shit again,
then it’s on.” Mark pulled his sunglasses off so the man could read his eyes. The older man stepped back somewhat.
“You
think you’re a tough guy scaring people don’t ya. Hell I could whoop your ass with my eyes close.” He told
Mark then raised his fist and imitated boxing with his eyes closed. Mark looked at him and stretched his neck, rolling his
head around.
“Oh shit!” Jacqueline said quietly. She knew what was coming next. Before he could utter
another word, Mark reached back and knocked the man out, with a one, two punch. The older guy watched as the man fell to the
ground like a tree that had been cut into. His eyes shot up to Mark.
“Why you son of a.......!” Mark rushed
the man and knocked him to the ground, pounding him into the dust. Jacqueline and the tall blonde stood face to face, watching
the men fight. Then Jacqueline slowly turned her head up to the woman.
“You started this, now I’m going
to finish it.” Jacqueline ran and jumped into the woman, sending her falling backwards to the ground. She gave the woman
a couple of licks to the face. Then a quick shove to her jaw with the heel of her palm. The woman slipped into darkness.
Mark
was finished before he got started with the man. He was coming over to Jacqueline, not sure if she was in control or not.
He didn’t want her to go to far. She rose up off the woman and stared down at her. Then she looked to see a crowd gathering.
She wasn’t sure what this meant, until Mark came to her side and the crowd began to cheer. Mark looked down at Jacqueline
and smiled, she wrapped her arm around his waist and leaned into him.
“Undertaker! Someone called the police.
They’re on their way. You and Jackie need to get going.” The bartender ran up to him.
“No it’s
better we stay and tell our side of the story.” Mark told the man, as they could hear the distant sirens approaching.
“No
need. These three are nothing but trouble makers. We’ll handle it. GO!” The man told him. Mark looked down at
Jacqueline. She shrugged her shower. Then he grabbed her hand and made a break for the parking lot. They were just driving
away when the lone patrol car made it’s way up to the bar.
“You think he was legit?” Jacqueline was
turned around on her knees looking back at the bar.
“We’ll soon know if they come after us in a few minutes.
Which reminds me, turn around, sit down and fasten your seatbelt.” He ordered her. She looked at him as he looked to
the road. She smiled and did as asked.
“You git this often?” She asked, relaxing in her seat. Mark continued
staring from the road to the rearview window.
“I have had a few.” Mark told her. She smiled and looked
over to him.
“I had heard about some of them. But wasn’t sure as I don’t believe half the stuff that
is said. Since some things about me is bogus. That’s why I asked you.” She looked out the side window. They drove
in silence for a while. As Mark was concentrating on what was in front of them and as well as behind.
“This was
fun!” Jacqueline said and appeared to nodded off. Mark looked over to her and smiled. He had a warm feeling and new
respect for her. She can definitely hold her own.
He drove into the garage of the hotel they were staying and parked
the car. Jacqueline was still knocked out to the world. He exited his side and walked around to where she was, opening the
door and gather her up and carried her into the hotel.
Chapter Four
Jacqueline was awaken by a forward
thrush. Slowly she emerged from her slumber. Her eyes lazily parted and search her surroundings to determined her whereabouts.
They came to rest on Mark’s profile. It made at ease to see a friendly face.
She turned her head so see they
were heading upwards in the elevator. She slid an arm up and around his neck. He knew then she was woke. He turned his head
to look into her eyes. She looked up into the deep green orbs. She let out a sigh. She could only had dreamed to be this up
close and personal with the Deadman.
The doors parted to their floor. He exited the elevators, continuing to carry
her down the hall way. He came to a door. Her door! He stood in front of it, staring into their eyes. She looked over and
saw where they were.
She looked back at him and spontaneously, touched the side of his face and lifting her head up
towards it, brushed his lips with her own. Then pulled back with desire in her eyes. Without a word her turned away from her
door and moved on down the hall to his room.
Holding her up with one arm and her arms wrapped about his neck, dug
into his pants pocket and pulled out the key card. After giving the key lock a swipe and hearing the clicking sound, kicked
open the door and entered the room. And kicking it close behind them, proceeding to the bedroom.
All the while, they
never took their eyes from the other‘s. The passion was strong and the electricity overwhelming. This is a night they
both needed. They were willing to allow their inhibitions to take them as far as they could go.
He walked over to
the bed and gently laid her down. She back paddled up to the head and staring into his eyes. He looked down at her, thinking
how quick this night came to be. And wondered where will they go from here.
“Are you sure this is what you want?”
He asked, knowing how it can be between employees who have an affair and things don’t go right.
“Mark listen!
You and I are both grown. And I hope mature. I don’t know where this will go after tonight. Maybe no where. But that’s
my point. We do have tonight and I know you want this as much as I do. Let’s not spoil it with small talk.” She
said and came to her knees, beckoning for him to come to her. He obeyed.
She slowly and methodically unbuttoned his
shirt, kissing his bare chest as she did. He moaned with pleasure, feeling her moist full lips on his skin. Her tongued encircled
one of his nipples, sending a shockwave through his body. Causing a certain part of his body to stand out and take notice.
Then
she stood to her feet, just coming to his chin. She began to pull his short off his and down his arms. Kissing his shoulders
lightly. She was driving him insane. Then she gazed into his eyes, dark and passionate.
She knew he was getting there.
This is what she wanted and waited so many years. To be here in this moment of time. Knowing what no other who had never been
with him before knew. What truly lied inside of him.
She began to unbutton and zip his pants, letting them fall to
the ground. He aided her by stepping out of them, answering the often asked question. Does he or doesn’t he. Then he
took off his boots. He wasted no time afterwards and pulled her into his arms, planting a kiss on her that took her breath
away.
She pulled away, gasping for breath. She looked at him with such desire, he moved unto the bed and brought her
down on it. Then he raised her tank top up and unlatched the bra, freeing her well rounded dark mounds. He took the pointed
nipple into his mouth. She groan out loud. He was good!
He pulled the blouse off of her, along with the tank top and
exposed both breast. he toyed with each causing her to become very audible with what he was doing. Then he moved down to her
boots, pulling one after the other of. Next came her pants and thongs. He looked upon her nude body for the first time, just
a finger tip away.
He moved over her like night over day, capturing her lips with his own. She wrapped her legs about
his body as far as they could go, clinging to him. They then became one, dancing to the sounds of their own moans and groans.
Together in rhythm, their bodies moved. Each giving all that there was and enjoying what the other was giving.
They
reached within themselves, leaving nothing wanting and no rock unturned. They soared higher than they had in their lives.
Into infinity and beyond. Until their bodies cried out for release. He exploded in her, yelling out her name. And she screamed
his, as her sweet fluids flowed around him. They fell to earth, spent of every ounce of energy their bodies had.
She
curled up into a fetal position, her body slowly letting out its last tremble. He laid next to her, calming his heavy breathing
and rapid heart beat. His huge arm reached over to her and burrowed under her still body and pulled her to his side. She had
just enough left in her, to turn over to her side facing him and rested her head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
Slowly they drifted off to sleep. Content at last.
Chapter Five
Mark slowly began to stir from
the slumber that had overtaking him. His senses coming alive, he could feel the warm naked body, spooned in next to his won.
He opened his eyes and without moving, looked down at the sleeping Jacqueline.
He let a smile etched across his face,
as his mind went back to the night’s events. It had been a hell of a night, as they made love and rested. Only to wake
and make more love. They just couldn’t get enough of each other.
He brushed her hair from her face and planted
a light kiss on cheek. His hand moved down to touch her firm breast and tweak the nipple. She let out a small moaned and began
to stir. His hand moved down her length, coming to her leg and parted them. His now evident erection, eased into her moist
warm core. She groaned with pleasure, coming fully awake.
“Hmmm, Mark! You’re a hungry beast!” She
told him as her body responded to his thrush.
“Only for your sweetness!” He said, getting into the sensation
surrounding his member. Jacqueline moved away, causing him to exit her. He looked at her confused. She turned around facing
him and moved up on him, saddling him like a horse.
He let out a huge groan, as she came down on him, riding him hard
and steady. His hips rose to the occasion. They continued with this, until she felt him extend as far as he could and release
everything into her like a flash flood.
She screamed out, unable to contain her pleasure any longer. She fell upon
his chest, weaken. His arms moved around her and held her dearly. She had given him so much in such a little time. He will
always remember this. The drifted off to sleep, drained.
Mark woke to find Jacqueline no longer at his side. He sat
up in bed and searched the room. His eyes fell on the bathroom door, hearing the shower going. He swung the covers off and
left the bed for the bathroom. he wanted one more round before they had to leave for the next show.
His hand touched
the knob to turn it and found it locked. He shingled the knob, just to make sure. He stepped back and thought. She did this
on purpose, he thought. Just at that moment the shower stopped. he moved back to the bed and got back under the covers and
fake sleeping. The door came open and she walked out with a towel wrapped around her.
She looked over at Mark, whose
eyes were closed. She sat down and stared at him. She had always had a crush on him from the first time they were introduced.
But she didn’t dare do anything to encourage it as he was married at the time, but going through a divorce. She still
didn’t want to get involved, as she would always fill like a rebound.
“Hey babe!” His deep voice
filled the room, bringing her out of her thoughts. She looked over to him propped up on his arm, staring at her. His eyes
deep green with passion and long red mane haphazardly on his head.
“Hey yourself! Looks like you had a hard night!”
She teased. He shook his head and laughed.
“And morning. I was hoping to join you in the shower, but it seems
there was a problem with the door being lock!” His eyebrows rose. She let out a small chuckle.
“Yes. I
figured you would come in and try to get another one in.” She said and stood, pulling the towel off. He fell back in
the bed. He hadn’t seen her like this. She came over to the bed, as another round of love making began.
Chapter
Six
Jacqueline left Mark in his room. She had to pack and get to the next show. She found herself smiling, as she played
back their night of passion. It had been a long time and the wait was worth it. They both agreed it would be better to keep
this on the download. They would sneak away whenever they could. They kept this up until one day Mark came to her.
“I
have to tell you something.” He said, walking back and forth. She had been with him enough to know this wasn’t
going to be good.
“Sure!” She said and sat down. He came over to her and looked her deep in the eyes.
“I
want to let you know, you have given me so much these last few months. I was down and you lifted me.” He started, taking
her small had into his own. Jacqueline let out a long breath. No not good at all.
“But.....” She said.
He looked away from her. He couldn’t bare to see what he was doing to her.
“I’m going back to my
wife. She called me the other night. She said one of the kids were sick. I had to go. I went over to see what was going. He
had been calling for me. I stayed the night and.” He trailed off. Jacqueline pulled her hand out of his and stood to
her feet. She walked over to the hotel window and stared out.
“And you slept with her.” She ended it.
She could hear him come to his feet and walking over to her. She lifted her hand and shook her head. He stopped.
“Go
Mark. Just leave please.” She said, her voice trying to sound strong.
“Jackie! I’m sorry.”
He said. She shook her head again.
“No, I’m sorry. You never promised me a damn thing. You have nothing
to be sorry about. I would like to be alone please.” She told him.
He went to reached for her, but thought better.
He turned and walked out the door. She heard it closed, turned and walking over to her bed, threw herself on it. Tears flowing
from her tiny body like a waterfall. Little did he know, she had some news of her own. She was pregnant.
Jacqueline
sat in her hotel room for a long time after Mark dropped the bombshell on her. She wiped the tears from her eyes, thinking
about what a fool she had been. How could she had allowed herself to get sucked in like that.
Rising to her feet, she
walked away from the window she had been staring out for a couple of hours. Looking down at her watch, realized that time
had pass by very quickly and the show would be starting soon.
She wasn’t up to it, even though she wasn’t
going to be in any storylines or matches at this point in time. The push of Sable had went over well. Her job had been done.
She took a seat on the side of the bed and picked up the phone, dialed a number. She had made a very important decision.
“Hello,
Mr. McMahon? I need to talk with you. I’m going to need some time off. She told him, then listened to his response.
As he finished, she hung the phone up and grabbed up her things and left the hotel for the arena.
Jacqueline made her
way through the backstage, in search of Mr. McMahon’s office. She turned down a hallway and looking at each door found
the one she needed. She stood poised at the door for a few moments, trying to gather the nerves for the meeting.
Suddenly
it opened. There she stood face to face with Mark. She muttered something, turning her head away from him. He leaned against
the door and gesture with his hand for her to come in. She stood back to allow him to come out, but he wouldn’t budge.
Seeing that he was going to be stubborn she walked pass him not saying a word. Mark looked over to her.
“Hello
Jackie.” He spoke to her. She never turned to look at him.
“Hello Mark.” She replied, taking a seat
in front of Vince’s desk. He observed the interaction of the two and knew immediately something had occurred between
them. Mark turned away from her and walked out the door. Her eyes went to the corners and listened to the door close. Then
looked at a suspicious Vince.
“Alright! Mind telling me what that was all about?” Vince asked. She couldn’t
contain all that was bottled up in her. And seeing Mark so soon after the news, didn’t help the situation much either.
She broke down and began to sob uncontrollably. Vince rushed from behind his desk, grabbing a box of tissue and came
to sit on the front of the desk. He handed her the box, wondering what was so bad to make this strong woman break.
“Jackie,
what’s wrong?” he asked, as she pulled a tissue from the box, and wiped her eyes.
“I did something
so stupid. And now there is repercussions.” She told him, blowing her nose.
“Okay! Tell me. You know you
can tell me anything and I will do whatever it is within my power to help you out.” he reassured her. She looked up
at him with beautiful sad eyes.
“I know. I’ve been with someone for the last several months and now I’m
pregnant.” She told him and looked at his face for some reaction. Vince rose from the desk and walked away, thinking.
“What
are you going to do about it?” he asked, still looking away. She came ot her feet and walked in front of him. His eyes
fell on her.
“I’m not sure. I need some time away from all of this to think. I don’t want to make
a wrong decision.” She said, shaking her head and looking around.
“The father. What does he say?”
Vince asked. Jacqueline stiffened like a board. He gave her that look he does so often.
“If you don’t mind.
I rather not have him involved or reveal him.” She said. Vince shook his head and walked away from her, then sat down
behind his desk. Jacqueline came over and took her seat in the chair.
“It’s okay, Jackie. I think I know
who he is and why you have made the decision to exclude him out. But if you choose to have this baby and not inform him. It’ll
come back to bite you in the end.” He warned her. She took in a deep breath and let it out.
“Duly warned.
Now may I have the leave I asked?” She changed the subject. Vince pulled out a ledger and looked it over. Then he looked
back up to Jacqueline.
“Okay! Take as long as you want. I hope everything works out for you.” She nodded
and they came to agreement on a leave time.
She stood to her feet and thanked. He came from behind his desk, wrapped
his arms around her and gave her a huge hug. He had much respect for her. She was one of or was the best women wrestlers he
had. She had never given him an ounce of trouble, doing whatever was asked of her.
She turned and walked out of his
office, down the corridors and made her way out of the arena. Heading for the garage. She never spotted the person watching
her every movement, looking for a chance to talk to her.
She found her car and moved into it, sitting for a long while.
Holding back the tears that wanted to flow. She would miss being there. But she had more important things to attend to.
Mark
walked up to the entrance of the garage and watched her as she entered her car, sitting there for some time. He knew she was
hurting bad. All he wanted to do is take her in his arms and comfort her. He was now rethinking this going back to his wife
thing. Maybe later when she came back they could talk.
She finally gathered herself and turned on the car. She backed
out of the parking slot and drove through the garage, heading out to the streets. She thought she got a glimpse of a familiar
figure standing in the entrance way. But with a second look, saw nothing there. She moved out onto the streets and sped away.
Mark moved back into the entrance, not wanting her to see him following her. He felt he would catch up with her later
at her hotel room. He turned had headed back to his dressing room. There was a buzz going on backstage and made it’s
way to him.
Jacqueline had left the WWF for a undetermined length of time. He didn’t say anything a word when
he heard this. He continued on to his dressing room, figuring he was the reason she had left.
After the show, he went
to her hotel room. A maid was cleaning it out. He asked if it was still occupied and the housekeeper informed him it wasn’t.
He went into his room and tried to call her cell phone.
The message: ‘The number you wish to reach, is no longer
in service.’
Mark hung the phone up and sat in the dark for a long time. He realized he had made a decision
he would have to live with for some time.
Chapter Seven
Several months later, Mark had
to leave the WWF and have surgery on a nagging injury he had been working through. And hoping he would get a chance to find
Jacqueline. She had left the company, the same day he had told her he was going back to his wife.
No one seemed to
know where she had gone or how to get in touch with her. It was as if she had vanished. He wanted to tell her his marriage
didn’t make it after all and wanted to make her his wife. He kept getting the feeling Vince knew, but didn’t or
wouldn’t tell him. Whenever he would call and ask about her, he would snap him up.
Jacqueline came back months
after Mark had left. He watched her make her come back. as he continued to workout for his soon return. Things had changed
for him. He found someone and fell in love.
She made him happy and filled the void left in his heart after months
of trying to fine Jacqueline. He was going to marry her. If only Jackie hadn’t left. It could have been her. He thought
to himself and turned off the TV.
Finally, after a few more months of getting himself back in his groove, he came back
to the WWE. He sped up on his Harley, parked it in the garage and headed for his designated dressing room. It was a big PPV.
He had changed his style and wasn’t sure how the fans would react.
He looked over to a group of women talking
and saw her. He walked over to them. Someone saw him coming and looked at him. Jacqueline saw the person staring at something
and turned her head to see what it was they were staring at. She froze for a moment, not knowing what to say. He broke the
ice.
“Hi Jackie, may I talk with you for a moment?” He said to her. She smiled and said goodbye to the
others, following him.
He made his way to his dressing room and opened the door, walked into his dressing room and
held the door for her. She walked pass him, turned and stood staring at him. He then closed the door, shutting everything
outside.
“It’s good to see you again.” He started. She nodded, not sure where this was leading.
She
had heard the rumors of his engagement. So what, she thought. With her time off, she had healed from his last announcement.
He was her past. She was now looking towards her future.
“Thank you. Nice seeing you too.” She replied,
crossing her arms over her chest.
Mark could see a change in her. Especially her eyes. They no longer held that soft
desire in them for him as they once had. For some reason that sent a pain through his heart. This left him confused.
“Look
Jackie! I have something I need ot tell you before someone else tells you.” He started. She shifted form one leg to
the other, staring at him without and emotions. This bothered him for some reason.
“Okay.” She said to
him, shrugging her shoulders. he stared into her eyes, seeing this wasn’t the woman he had left nearly a year ago. She
didn’t hold his in regard as she had before. He felt a lump form in his throat. Making everything he had to say mute.
“While
we were away from each other. A lot of things happened.” He continued, turning away from her. Trying to gather what
he was feeling and what he was telling her.
“My marriage wasn’t a go. We got divorced any way.” He
turned to see how she took this.
She remained unmoved by it. He paused for a long time, the atmosphere in the dressing
room was heavy. Yeah, a lot has changed. He realized what she felt for him and long gone. The killer part. His hadn’t.
“That
day I realized it wasn’t going to work. I tried to contact you, but no one knew where or how to find you. I felt Vince
knew though.” He said, observing her. She just stood there like a statue.
“So what was it you wanted with
me, Mark?” She asked, the first time he heard his name come out of her mouth in a long time. But this time it sent a
different feeling of tenderness, to very harsh.
“I wanted to ask you to marry me.” He blurted out. His
emotions getting the best of him. Maybe if she knew how much he really wanted her, would change everything. She took in a
deep breath and exhaled. She looked him dead in the eyes.
“Listen to me Mark! And listen real good.” She
began. He stiffen from the tone of her voice.
“Okay!” He said softly.
She waiver for a moment,
unnoticed by him. The gentleness in his voice reminded her of something in the past. But she drew strength from somewhere
else. It had to end now. They couldn’t continue on this path to nowhere.
“We had something wonderful. But
it ended because you made a decision. I was broken by it, but excepted it. Now you’re here to tell me how you wanted
to marry me, because you decided you made a mistake and that you got a divorce. And now you’re telling me all of this
for what, Mark?” She came at him. He could see there was no easy way to say this or that she wanted an easy way. It
seemed to him she really could care less.
“That I’m getting married.” He said, hanging his head.
“I
know Mark. It’s all over the place. I’m finished with this. You owe me nothing else. Please, no more of this.”
She said, moving pass him and out the door. He closed his eyes, allowing the moment to vanquish. But deep in his heart, he
knew. She may be finished, but he wasn’t.
Chapter Eight
Over the next few months before Mark was to get marry,
Jacqueline and him hardly was on the same show at any given time. Her use in the WWE was limited. By her request. She finally
was asked to do a new reality show they had come up with.
Called Tough Enough. She would train people, who had no
previous wrestling experience. She saw this, as a good way not to have to see Mark for some time. He was making it quite difficult.
Mark’s
wedding day came. Everyone who was someone of the wrestling community was there. Except for Jacqueline. She was invited, but
thought it was best she wasn’t there. She watched one night after their honeymoon, he returned with her name collared
on his throat.
‘He must be in love.’ She nodded and thought to herself. That had to be painful.
Then
the biggest event in history happened. Ted Turner secretly sold WCW to Vince McMahon. And ECW failed through due to bad management.
Vince also picked them up. She thought this was a great idea. It would add more towns to their schedule and she would get
to see old friends. Booker T for one.
But the whole invasion thing didn’t go off as planned. Many wrestlers
lost their jobs. The ones who remain became the jobbers for the WWE. Booker T was stripped of his US title and it given to
another wrestler. Rock was booked to take his champion title also. It was a bad time for the WCW wrestlers.
Mark brought
his wife onto the scene. Which she thought was strange, as he was always private. Then she remembered him making this big
speech, in the ring and tear filled eyes. About how he kept his family private and out of the business.
Now that she
looked back on it. He was giving a foretelling of her. She heard rumors that his wife had got cozy with Stephanie and talked
her into getting her a spot on the show. Mark being who he was, wanted her to be happy and reluctantly gave in to her.
She
watched as Austin and Triple HHH started the storyline, but was later pulled from it. The officials felt it wouldn’t
take and didn’t want their tops stars to be involved. And take it didn’t. It started out okay, giving Mark a good
feud with DDP.
But it became a squash after squash for DDP. Even to the point they made him look like a pervert. She
felt for Kim. She knew her well and knew this was not going over well with her. The push to make DDP as an credible heel came
to being a push to get her over with the crowd, which didn’t.
They weren’t use to seeing the Deadman as
they knew him needed anyone, less alone his petite wife coming in to save him from a beat down. And at the time she was the
only female being used on the show. With Debra being shown with Austin or Stephanie.
She also heard rumors of an affair
his wife was having with some young wrestler who was later sent down to OVW for some more training. Ironic. The whole thing
flopped and left him with months of Vince screwing him over.
Then they had this shoot for a possible Diva weekly show.
Sex on the Beach. Mark’s wife was invited to attend. Word got back she was an handful. She had o have take after take
done to make sure some of things she said wouldn’t make it to TV. One thing that she said, made Jacqueline laugh.
‘It
was quick.’ His wife told of an encounter they had in a public bathroom at a indoor arena football game. Mark has never
been quick with her, Jacqueline thought.
With that segment of his career passed. Jacqueline left Tough Enough, not
electing to do it another reason. She was paired with APA, Bradshaw and Farooq. She found herself on the same show as Mark.
She hoped they would never run into each other.
She was grateful his wife was no longer on the show. Not that she had
anything against her, just she felt it would be awkward to look the woman face to face, knowing what she knew about Mark.
She
entered the building and was going to her dressing room. She turned the corner and bumped into a brick wall, falling on her
backside with a hard thump. She tried to gather herself and looked up into Mark’s face.
“Jackie!”
He said, extending his hand to her. She reached up and place her tiny hand into his own. He gave a gently tug and she was
up.
“Thanks!” She said and began to pick up her bag that had fallen.
“As always. It’s
good to see you.” He told her and leaned against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. Jacqueline looked at
him and smiled, nodding.
“It’s good to see you too, Mark.” She said. And it was true. She had heard
he was not very happy with the way things were going backstage. He was getting a lot of heat, from the other wrestlers about
him using his clout too many times.
And the thing with DDP and the busted storyline. Not to mention him trying to
help out his friend Brian, who was part of Kronik. They screwed him big time. It was said, the night after the messed up match
Mark and Glenn had with the two Brians. They were asked to go down to OVW for more training.
But the other Brian one
refused, walking away. Mark‘s friend went down but was later fired due to him not doing what was asked. This made Mark
look really bad. Jacqueline felt he needed a friend.
“How have you been?” He asked, staring at her. She
brought back some great memories. A time when he felt safe. And a part from everything else.
“I’ve been
fine Mark. Thank you for asking. How have you been?” She asked and watched inhale deeply, letting it out just as hard.
He looked off into the distance, not anywhere in particular.
“Okay I guess. Could be better.” He said.
She gave him a intense looked, reading him well.
“Stay strong Mark! You’ll get through this.” She
encouraged him. His eyes fell on her. He could feel those old feelings rising form a depth in his heart. She caught it and
made her uncomfortable.
“I better go now. Take care.” She said and darted pass him before he could say
anything. She made it to her dressing room and opened the door. She was inside like a flash. She leaned against the door,
breathing heavy.
Damn! She thought. Those old feeling were resurfacing.
At that moment, the door pushed open
and she ran from it, turning to se who this intruder could be. Mark entered and closed the door behind him. Jacqueline looked
at him dumbfounded. What the hell was wrong with him. He came towards her and \backe dher against the wall capturing her lips
wiht him mouth. She struggled to free herself, but he was toopowerful. He took her breath away as he kissed her hard and deep,
pressinghis body into hers. She felt eveything they had shared and enied flow btweenthem and filled the room. It was evident
what they once shared had been dormant, but was now coming alive.
“No Mark! Please!” She pushed him away.
Causing him to hold her at arms length against the wall.
“Jackie please!” He pleaded. She shook her head.
“This
isn’t right. And you know it. There’s nothing you can give me, but heartache. And I’ve been there. Please
let me go and leave.” She said, looking away from him.
Mark stared at her for a few moments, holding her against
the wall. Then he finally lowered her to the ground. She quickly walked away from him and kept her back to him. He backed
away towards the door, staring at the wall.
That decision he made so long ago will keep coming back to haunt him.
Jacqueline heard the door open and closed as he left her. She began to cry. This was getting old. Maybe she needed to take
time away.
Chapter Nine
Jacqueline left the WWE on a leave
for a few months. She called Vince and told him she was ready to make her return. He gave her the okay. Wrestlemania had come
and gone! She was walking in the back when she came up on Dawn Marie and Torrie Wilson. They were going over some last minutes
rehearsal for a segment. So she thought.
“Hi Jackie. How are you?” Dawn turned to her as she walked up
to them.
“I’m doing just great thank you.” Jackie smiled and looked over to Torrie.
“Hi
Jackie!” She smiled.
“Hi Torrie. You too ready for your match?” She asked them. They looked at each
other and shrugged their shoulders.
“I don’t know. Maybe you could go over some pointers for us?”
Dawn asked her.
“Sure. Let me go change into my gear.” She told them, walking away and towards her dressing
room.
She opened the door and walked in, tossing her bag over on the couch. She sat down next to it and began to removed
her shoes when she got this uneasy feeling. She looked up to see Mark exiting her shower. She glared at him.
“Is
this how it’s going to be? What am I going to have to do, to make you leave me alone? Leave the damn company?”
She stared him down. He raised his hands up.
“No! You don’t have to leave the damn company.” He slurred
his words. Jackie gave him a intense looked. Something wasn’t right.
“Mark? What is wrong with you?”
She rose to her feet and looked at him closely.
“Nothing is wrong. Everything is right with the world.”
He began to sway back and forth. Jacqueline became alarmed. If Vince sees this he will be in deep shit. She thought to herself.
“Damn
Mark! You’ve been drinking! You‘re drunk!” She whispered and walked up to him. he looked down at the tiny
being in front of him and wondered how do things get that small?
“I pretest. I’m not drunk. I’m as
sober as you. And what are you? I don’t ever remember seeing anything so small. OR are you way down there? Do you want
me to come down there with you?” He began to ramble on.
All the while, Jacqueline was leading him into the shower.
She shoved him against the wall. He took this as a freak on time and began pawing at her. She leaned in and turned on the
cold water.
“HEY!” He said and fled from the icy cold water, nearly bowling Jacqueline over and stumbled
out of the shower. Dripping wet, he went over to the couch and fell like a mighty oak tree.
“Great!” Jacqueline
said, pulling out her bag just under him and went over to the bench to dress. She went to find Bradshaw and Farooq. They were
good friends of his. They could take care of this discreetly.
Afterwards she headed down to the ring. Dawn, Torrie
and Stacy were talking. They never saw her come up.
“Yeah! I heard he was going to leave, so she got pregnant
to keep him.” Stacy told the other two.
“Well, she shouldn’t have dissed him so bad on TV. He bent
over backwards to get her in.” Torrie said.
“Well, he’s been paying for it every since. Poor guy.
He’s been drinking a lot lately. I hope he doesn’t bottom out.” Dawn said, looking very deep in thought.
They all nodded their heads.
“What are you girls talking about? Or should I say, who are you gossiping about?
No never mind. I don’t want to know. Now lets get to practicing.” She said and jumped up on the mat, moving into
the ring.
“Oh, come on Jackie. You’re not the least interested in who we’re talking about?“
Dawn was the first to come in and stare at Jacqueline.
“Yeah! He’s a BIG name with just as much problems.”
Torrie was the next to come in and face Jacqueline.
“Look Ladies! Either you except my help without the rumors
or I go back to my dressing room.” Jacqueline stared from one to the other.
Stacy came in last, but not in ring
attire. Jacqueline never has liked her. She was an arrogant tart. She knew she was up to something.
Chapter Ten
Stacy sauntered around the ring,
staring at Jacqueline. She wasn’t going to do any wrestling so didn’t have any business there but for what she
was doing. Stirring up mess. Jacqueline watched her, ready to pounce on her if she said or did anything that she didn’t
like.
“Well speaking of rumors. This person has been linked to you a year or so ago.” Stacy stood, staring
and taunting Jacqueline. Dawn and Torrie stood stunned. The girl’s got nerves.
“Stacy if you got something
to say to me. Then say it or get your long linky ass out of the ring, before I do the pleasure.” Jacqueline threatened.
“Okay!
I’ll say it. You and Mark were a hot item some time back. And rumor has it you were with child. That’s why you
had to leave for a while. So as I was telling the girls, his wife is now pregnant. I wondered why?” Stacy told her.
Dawn and Torrie braced themselves. This wasn’t going to be pretty. Jacqueline felt the color leave her face. Before
she knew, she found herself opening her dressing room door and falling in it.
She leaned against the door and slid
down it. What if Mark knows? Could she know? Se thought. What is she going to do? Leave this company forever, she thought.
No, not yet. She can’t let that loud mouth Stacy get to her. A knock came at the door. She pulled her head back and
closed her eyes.
“Yeah!” She said. A voice seeped though the doors.
“It’s me Jackie.
Dawn!” She said. Jacqueline sighed, the slid back up the door and turned around facing it, pressing her face against
it.
“Not now Dawn. Please go away.” She said.
“No! Now open the door. You need a friend.”
She said. And how she said it struck something in Jacqueline. She stepped back and opened the door, allowing her entrance.
“You
are very persistent.” Jacqueline said, walking over to her couch and sitting down. Forgetting that a dripping wet huge
red-head had been lying on it. She jumped to her feet and began brushing her back side.
“Only with people who
are worth it. And you are. Stacy is an idiot is all I can say.” She took a seat on a table. Jacqueline took a seat on
the floor.
“I’m glad you realize that. About Stacy that is.” They began to laugh. Then Dawn got serious.
“Something
has been bothering you for some time. You have left and come back, only to leave again. What’s going on Jacqueline?”
She asked and Jacqueline could see she was genuinely concerned.
“It’s nothing, really.” She said,
staring at a not convince Dawn. Dawn thought for a while and jumped off the table onto the floor. She headed for the door
and turned to give Jacqueline a last look.
“Whenever you decided you need a friend to confide in. Give me a call.”
She said and started out the door.
“Dawn wait! Come back in.” She called to her. Dawn turned and stared
for a long time, before coming back in and closing the door.
“Have a seat. You’re going to need it.”
She told her. Dawn felt a dreaded come over her.
“Jackie is it bad. Just give me that much before you spill the
beans.” She asked her.
“I guess it depends on who you are. Stacy was right. Mark and I did have an affair.
He we tried to keep it between us. But I guess we weren’t fooling anybody.” Jacqueline began. Dan listen with
surprise. They were good. She just thought it was a rumor too.
“Well he decided to go back to his first wife.
It didn’t work out. Then he got married again. He keeps popping up. I don’t want the headache. Besides this time
I have a chance to make it right. I won’t make the same mistake twice. He was married then and he’s married now.
How long has he been drinking?” She asked. Dawn shifted her body weight.
“For sometime. Like just before
Wrestlemania. He flipped the fans out. Was yelling in the ring he didn’t need any of them. I don’t know what is
going on with him.” She said. Jacqueline listen carefully. Then walked away from Dawn, thinking.
“Can
I trust you with something?” She turned to her. Dawn nodded quickly.
“My lips is sealed.” She mimicking
gluing them shut. Jacqueline walked up to her, just a foot away and stared into her eyes.
“The part about the
baby is true. I never told him. I never told anyone but one other person and you know now.” She told her. Dawn looked
at her sympathetic. And came to pull her in her arms.
“Oh I’m so sorry. It must have hurt to have to get
rid of it.” Dawn told her. Jacqueline moved out of her embrace and stared at her strangely.
“Who said I
lost it.” Jacqueline said. Now it was Dawn’s time to looked confused.
Chapter Eleven
Dawn stared at Jacqueline stunned.
She had just found out Jacqueline had an affair with Mark a while back and there was a baby. She just assumed the baby had
died or something other, since Jacqueline never spoke about it. But now she has given her a little tibit. The baby may be
alive.
“I just assumed since you haven’t told him and I never hear you mention a child. I just assumed.”
She shrugged her shoulders.
“No! The baby is live and well.” Jacqueline admitted. Dawn looked around to
make sure no one was near.
“I don’t understand. Why wouldn’t you tell him he has a child?”
Dawn asked. Jacqueline looked around to make sure the were alone.
“I went on leave to abort the baby. Then lying
there, I knew I couldn’t get rid of my baby. And I was so right. Whenever I take my leaves, it’s to spend with
him.” She told her. Dawn gasped with joy.
“He?” She said. Jacqueline smiled, nodding her head.
“What’s
his name?” Dawn asked. Jacqueline took Dawn to her dressing room. She dug around in her bag for her wallet. When she
found it, pulled out pictures. Dawn oohed and aaahed.
“Jackie he is so adorable.” Dawn told her. Jacqueline
grinned from cheek to cheek. Of all her accomplishments, he was the greatest of them all.
“His name is Marcus
Jackson Moore.” She told her.
“That’s a mouth full. But has a nice ring to it. I gather Marcus is
for Mark.” Dawn said. Jacqueline just looked at her son’s picture. Dawn walked over to her and gave her a long
hug. Then walked out of the room to give her some privacy.
She never saw the tall thin Diva as she came out from a
hiding place she had hid when she heard Dawn coming out of Jacqueline’s dressing room. She had followed the two girls
and ease dropped on their conversation. She was surprised that the rumors were true. Mark fathered a baby with Jackie. And
the best part of it all. He doesn’t know.
How old would that make the child? She thought. About 3 or 4 years
old. Stacy knew she had to tell Mark. But she had to get some proof. She knew Jackie would be accompanying APA later that
night.
She would go in and steal a picture and later figure out where and when exactly did she have the baby. Mark
would be forever grateful. And who knows maybe he could use his clout for her as he has others. She quickly walked away until
later.
That night Jacqueline went down to the ring with the APA. While she was there, Stacy went into room, searching
for the pictures she had shown Dawn. She went through Jacqueline’s bag, found the wallet and pictures. She found one
that would help her cause. Then she slipped out without being notice. So she thought.
“Does Jackie know you were
in her room?” Mark asked, standing in front of her as she made her retreat. Stacy took a couple of steps back. Nodding
her head and trying to still her beating heart.
“Yes, we were talking earlier about something. I told her I would
leave what she wanted in her room as soon as I found it. I did, but she’s out there and I have to go.” She stumbled
over the words of the lie she was giving him. She wanted to tell him but now was not the right time. Mark glared at her for
a few moments.
“When did Jackie become friends with the likes of you?” He asked, knowing how much Jacqueline
despised gossipers and just plain trouble makers.
“Well, if you mean bosom buddies, then no. We aren’t
there yet. But we’re cordial.” Stacy told him and looked pass him to see Jacqueline coming with the APA.
“Look
Mark! I really must go! Talk to you later.” She said, turned and rushed away. Mark heard familiar voices coming from
behind him and turned towards them. Jacqueline and APA came upon Mark. Jacqueline tried to contain herself, still feeling
the effects of what happened earlier.
“Feeling better?” Bradshaw asked as the two men greeted Mark.
“Yeah,
much. And thank you. I owe you.” Mark told them.
“No problem. You’d done the same for us.”
Farooq said.
“But the bigger thanks go to Jackie. She was the one who came and asked us to help you.” Farooq
told him. Mark’s eyes fell on her as she looked away. It was getting harder and harder not to tell him of his son. Each
time she look into her son’s face, she sees Mark. His smile, his red head. And the killer of all. His green eyes.
“Thank
you Jackie. I’m forever in your debt. Anytime or anything.” He told her. She looked back at him, seeing what he
meant.
“Don’t worry about it Mark. What was I suppose to do? Leave you in a drunken stuper? We’re
even.” She said and walked pass him into her dressing room. Mark went to follow her, but the Bradshaw caught his arm.
“If
you really want to repay us. How about a round of beers?” He asked him. Mark looked at him and then back to Jacqueline’s
door.
“Yeah! Why not?” He said and the three men made plans to meet up later.
Stacy had been walking
around in her hotel room, waiting for the fallout. She knew Mark should have told Jackie by now. When nothing happened, she
figured he didn’t. She held the picture of Jacqueline’s child in her hands, staring at it.
She would have
to find out where Jacqueline went when she left for her leave back in 99’. She decided to call a private investigator
friend. She called and agreed to meet him at a designated place. She would give him the picture. Then she’ll give Mark
all of the evidence, when she tells him he has a son.
Chapter Twelve
Jacqueline was off on a vacation. She decided
to spend some time with her son, Marcus. She would watch both RAW and Smackdown to keep up with what was going on.
On
Smackdown they had put through Mark some storyline, where some woman from his past popped up and accused him of sleeping with
her or something in that manner. Jacqueline just laugh at the creativity of the writers.
And on RAW they were taking
Kane through something similar but with some dead girl name Katie Vick. These stories lasted until the next PPV. She was glad
they weren’t using her as much. She could see herself jobbing or doing something she didn‘t like.
She was
playing with her son, one night. She enjoyed her time away from the WWE. It put things in perspective. She use to get so caught
up with the way she was being used and how things went. The WWE was her life, but now Marcus is.
She was just putting
him to bed, when the phone rung. It was Dawn Marie. She had some news for Jacqueline, that she wanted her to hear before it
got out. Jacqueline listened carefully then hung the phone up. Mark’s wife had their baby. A little girl!
Jacqueline
sat with the phone in her hand for a while. It wasn’t like she didn’t know. But it actually happening just made
it surreal. She came to herself and sat the receiver in its cradle. She walked over to where Marcus laid sleeping like a baby.
Her baby, no denying that.
“Momma is always going to take care of you, no matter what.” She told him, gently
brushing his cheek with the back of her hand. She never knew a person could love so much, as she loved him.
Stacy sat
in her hotel room, one night after the show. She had gotten a call from her private eye friend. After months of searching
he got an lead and followed it. It paid off. With what Stacy was paying he felt he should hand deliver them himself. She quickly
jumped to her feet and ran to the door, when she heard the first knock. Swinging the door opened and pulling him inside, she
checked to make sure no one saw him come in.
“Okay! What do you got?” She said, closing the door and turning
to him. He smiled and taunted her.
“I wouldn’t mind something to drink.” He said, sitting down on
the couch. Stacy stared at him for a long while, then moved to the small refrigerator and pulled out a small bottle, handing
it to him. Then she took a seat in a chair across from him and crossed her leg over the other, then sat back and waited for
the information.
“Sure you don’t want to join me?” He asked. She shook her head.
“No!
Just give me the information.” She said coolly. He snapped the top of the bottle and looked around for something, then
turned to Stacy.
“What no glass?” He toyed with her. Stacy eyebrows lifted, as she stared daggers into
him.
“No, I don’t want to drink with you. No, there are not glasses coming your way. Yes, you will give
me the damn information I paid you. Or as in the famous word of the person I so desire to inform said: “Before I go
Medieval on your ass.” She leaned in tired of this game. He looked at her and smirked.
“Okay, okay! I was
just trying to make this special, as you will see when I give you the information. Which will be now.” He said, taking
a drink from the bottle and sitting it down on the coffee table in front of him, then grabbing his briefcase. Stacy watched
impatiently as he pulled papers from it and handed them to her.
“If you have any questions, just asked.”
He said taking the bottle from the table and sipping more of its contents. Stacy stood to her feet, scanning though one page
after another. She looked at the last page and nearly jumped out of her skin for glee.
“There you go.”
She said and hugged the papers to her breasts. The private detective, stared wishing it was his head buried there.
“Thank
you so much. Everything I need is here. Mark will be eternally grateful to me. I know how he is about his children. And what
Jackie did was unthinkable.” Stacy told him. He stood to his feet and smiled.
“What you’re doing
has nothing to do with friendship or what’s right. So don’t play that with me. I know you’re hoping this
will help you out in the long run. I just hope that child isn’t the one to get hurt through all of this.” He told
her and walked pass her out the door.
Jacqueline was cleaning out her bag. She was going to be going back on the road
soon and wanted to replace some things she always carried with others. That’s when she began to look at the pictures
she loved to carry of Marcus. And discovered one was missing.
“Where in the world could that picture be?”
She asked herself, dumping everything in the bag on the bed. It was no where to be found. She went back to the last time she
saw it, but remember she put it back. She shook her head puzzled.
The next night, Stacy went in search of Mark. She
wanted to give him the information she had gather. She was so happy to finally put it to Jackie. he had come back from his
leave. And was sitting in his dressing room when he heard the knock at his door.
“Yeah!” he called, lacing
his boots.
“Mark! It’s me Stacy.” She called to him. Mark stopped what he was doing and went to
answer the door. He didn’t like Stacy as he stared down on her after opening the door. She looked at him wedge in between
the door and door post.
“I have some vital information that I think you should know.” She started. Mark
raised his eyebrows.
“Now Stacy. What is it you have that I would want to know?” He knew she was the biggest
gossiper the WWE had. Stacy pulled out a picture and handed it to him. Mark looked at it for a moment then up to Stacy.
“What
is that?” He asked, finally taking it in his hand and staring at it. A beautiful brown skinned boy. Head full of red
hair and the clearest green eyes had ever seen.
“Your son!” Stacy said and watched Marks eyes grow a few
sizes larger, while his jaw fell.
Chapter Thirteen
Mark stood in the doorway
of his dressing room, staring at the picture given to him by Stacy. ‘Your son!.........Your son!.........Your son!’
Replayed in his mind as he recorded every detail of the smiling youngster. Stacy stared him with a smirk on her face. From
his expression, she had made an impact. That she did!
Mark’s eyes slowly rolled up from the picture and came
up to meet Stacy’s eyes. She felt something shoot through her with the power of an cannonball. Suddenly and without
warning, Mark had grabbed her arm and pulled her into his dressing room, shoving her towards the couch. She tried to balance
herself and keep from falling, but the momentum was too great. She landed on it, long arms and legs, flailing about.
“Where
did you get this?” Mark’s voice deep with anger. Stacy straighten up and positioned herself on the couch. She
could see Mark was very angry. She had seen others on this side of it, but this was an first.
“Mark listen. Let
me explain.” She started. He made a step towards her.
“Where........did........you.......get......this?”
He said very slowly. His eyes dark with anger. Stacy hadn’t planned ion him taking it like this. She thought she would
come in and show him the picture, explaining how Jackie had lied to him for the last three years.
“Jackie! It’s
yours and Jackie’s son!” She said hysterically. She began to cry. She now realized from what she saw, this was
not going to go towards her way.
“Jackie? She hates you! Why would she give you this picture, if what you say
is true?” Mark asked, looking at the picture then at her. Then a light formed in his eyes. Stacy new what was next.
“That
day I caught you coming out of her room. You weren’t leaving a damn thing. You were taking something. THIS!” He
said loudly and held up the picture. Stacy’s eyes darted from him to the picture, as she scooped up and back onto the
couch.
“Mark listen! I have more information you need to know. It’s not me you should be angry with, but
Jackie. She lied all these years. She kept that beautiful child from you and you from him. If you’re going to be angry,
point it at her. Don’t shoot the messenger.” Stacy began to feel a little courageous. Mark glared at her then
down to the picture.
“Get out! And if I hear anything of this around the backstage, I’ll do more than shoot
the messenger. Now go!” Mark snapped at her. Stacy fumbled to her feet and scurried pass him, out the door and slammed
it behind her.
She ran as fast as her feet could carrying her and flew into her dressing room. Falling against the
door as it shut everything out side. She felt the tears flow down her cheeks. This didn’t go as she had wanted.
Some
how she needed to salvage this. Mark won’t get out of this so easy. Something came to mind. Dawn! She had to let Dawn
know and she will warn Jackie. Yeah, that’s it. She went into the shower, wet a towel and wiped her face, gathering
herself. Then left her dressing room in search of Dawn.
Mark walked over to the bench and sat down, staring at the
picture. Why didn’t Jackie tell him? He thought. She of all women, he would think. Would never withhold something so
important.
Then his mind traveled back to the day he told her he was going back to his first wife. She seemed overly
excited and anxious. But one little sentence and what followed changed everything in his life.
‘I have to tell
you something.’ He remembered telling her.
‘Sure!’ She said.
‘I want to let you know,
you have given me so much these last few months. I was down and you lifted me.’ What a wuss, he thought.
‘But.....’
She said.
‘I’m going back to my wife. She called me the other night. She said one of the kids were sick.
I had to go. I went over to see what was going. He had been calling for me. I stayed the night and.....’ That was the
killer.
‘And you slept with her.’ She ended it. He knew he had broken her heart.
‘Go Mark.
Just leave please.’ She said, her voice trying to sound strong.
‘Jackie! I’m sorry.’ He said.
She shook her head again.
‘No, I’m sorry. You never promised me a damn thing. You have nothing to be sorry
about. I would like to be alone please.’ She told him.
“Why didn’t I pick that up then? She told
me and I didn’t listen.” He remembered reaching out for her, but thought better. He came to his feet and felt
like punching something.
He left the room and got on his bike. It always brought things into perspective when he on
it. He hopped on it, turned on the engine and revved up the motor. Then he sped out of the garage and hitting the streets,
cruised down them, until he came to the open road. That’s when he let it go, distancing himself from the arena.
Chapter Fourteen
“That’s it in
a nutshell.” Stacy explained to Dawn, after her encounter with Mark.
“No, you poor excuse for a human
being. This is it in a nutshell.” Dawn pulled her arm back and let it rip across Stacy’s face. Dawn quickly turned
away from her and race through the halls, heading for Mark’s dressing room. Stacy stood stunned, rubbing the side of
her face. This just wasn’t her day.
“Where is Mark?” Vince yelled. He needed to go over something
with Mark before he did his match for the night. Dawn was just coming around the corner, when she heard Vince asking for him.
“I
saw him about half an hour ago. He looked like he was in an hurry.” One of the staff told him.
“Okay! Where
did you see him?” He asked, staring at the person as if he was annoyed.
“I saw him heading for the garage.”
They told him.
“Yeah. He left on his bike. Boy did he peel out of there.” Another employee came up and
got into the conversation. Vince’s head slowly turned to the other and stared long and hard. Then he turned and walked
away from them both.
Dawn thought for a moment. She knew she had to warn Jackie. She didn’t want her being surprised.
She ran to her dressing room and pulled out her cell phone. She dialed a number and waited as it rung.
Mark cruised
down the empty road, feeling the wind on his face. He had been riding for length of time. How long? he didn’t know.
Nor did he care. Nothing matter now, but what kept running through his head. He had a son.
How could Jackie had kept
something so important from him continued to rattle his brain. Yeah, he tried to rationalized she was hurt and all. But she
had many times to tell him over the last three years or so.
“Jackie! Would it had hurt to come to me and tell
me? A little: ‘Oh, by the way Mark. We have a son!’ During our many conversations, wouldn’t have hurt.”
He said to himself and feeling his anger, put the pedal to the metal. The bike sped up. He knew now where he was destined.
Jackie’s!
“Come on Jackie, answer!” Dawn paced back and forth, trying to get Jackie. Warning her
of what Stacy had done. The answering machine came on. She started to leave a message, but closed the phone. This isn’t
something you blurt out on the phone.
‘Hey Jackie, Stacy told Mark about your son and he may be on his way over
there.’ Yeah, right! She just hoped Mark wasn’t going where she thought.
“Hello?” Jackie called
into the phone, only to set the receiver back in it’s cradle. She had just come in from the store and heard it ringing.
She raced over to it and answered it just as it hung up.
“I guess they’ll call back.” She said and
walked out into the garage, gathered her son and came into the house. She sat him down and went back out to the garage to
finished unloading her groceries.
“Okay Markie. What would you like to do for fun?” She asked, finished
with putting everything up.
“Out side!” He said and bolted to the back door. Jacqueline laughed and went
over to where her son stood at the double door sliding doors. She unlocked it and he took off into the back yard and over
to his play area she had made exclusively for him.
Jacqueline took a seat on the ground under a tree and watched him
play. She sighed. He was her world. She just fathom life without him. He looked up and saw her staring at him. He got that
big smile over his face and waved to her. She waved back.
After a while, Marcus walked over to his mother and sat down
in her lap. She pulled him close to her, holding him tightly. Soon they fall into a restful sleep under the tree. In the distance,
a low rumble could be heard. A storm was stirring. But they never heard it, nor the phone ringing and heard the voice coming
through the answering machine.
“Okay Jackie! I didn’t want to do this, but you give me no choice. Stacy
told Mark about............................” The answering machine stopped. Dawn paused, staring into her cell phone.
She put it back to her ear, hearing the dial tone.
“What the......” She said and dialed her number again.
This time she got a busy signal. Suddenly Dawn got this sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach.
Chapter Fifteen
Some
point in time, during her nap. Jacqueline felt as if she were floating in air, then felt the silky soft smooth ground under
her as she touched, being brought down. Now sometime later, she had no idea. She began to stir in her deep sleep.
She
turned over unto her side and snuggled into the fluffed pillow. Then her mind slowly came out of the half sleep and awake
stage. Her eyes shot open and sat straight up in her bed.
She looked around, seeing she was in her room and in her
bed. How did she get there? Then her mind raced to one thing. Her son, Marcus. She jumped out of her bed and ran out of the
room, to Marcus’. She came to a screeching halt and flipped on the light. It was early night. She stared over to his
bed. He wasn’t in it and it was untouched.
Then panic took over!
She race through down the hall, looking
for him. The last thing she remember was them under the tree in the backyard, falling asleep. How could she had got in the
house and left her son outside? She came into the living room. She stopped short, as her eyes fell on something she could
hardly believe.
Her eyes enlarged, seeing Marcus laying in the arms of Mark. They were on the sofa, before the fireplace.
Relaxed and content. Mark’s head rose up, his eyes met a stunned Jacqueline. She stood there for how long she didn’t
know. She was speechless.
“Hello Jackie!” Mark’s voice rumbled across the room.
Marcus stirred
a little. Mark rose and walked towards Jacqueline. She backed out of his way, allowing him to carry Marcus to his room. She
followed close behind, standing in the doorway and watched Mark lay him gently in his bed. Marcus rolled over on his side
and went deeper into his sleep. Mark covered him with his blanket.
Mark stared down at him for a few moments. Then
looked over to Jacqueline. She could see the anger, but more hurt than anything in his eyes. He came towards her once again.
She moved out of his way, as he passed by her and said nothing. She looked at Marcus resting, then closed his door.
She
quickly rushed to join Mark. He had reclaimed his seat in front of the fireplace. She hesitantly walked in the room and sat
in a chair next to the sofa. Mark didn’t say anything, he just stared into the fireplace. This time it was Jacqueline
who broke the silence.
“How did you find out?” Was the only thing she could think to say. Mark’s
head lazily turned towards her, his eyes nearly like slits.
“Not by you!” His voice low and calm. Jacqueline
felt a chill run up and down her spine. She had never been on this end of his anger.
“Then who? Oh, either Dawn
or Vince! I guess.” She said, looking away and feeling betrayed. Mark straighten up.
“You told Vince too?
But you couldn’t tell me? The one other person in this world besides you who should have known!” His voice began
to get louder. Jacqueline stood to her feet, placing her finger over her mouth, trying to quiet him.
“Shhh! You’ll
wake him.” She said, going to the door to see if she could hear him. Mark put his hands on his hips and began to pace.
Jacqueline drew in a long breath and exhaled.
“Mark please. Hear me out. I know you’re hurt and angry.
But I didn’t know what else to do.” She said. He stopped pacing and glared at her. It hurt her to see him look
at her in this manner.
“You didn’t know what else to do? Tell me would have been a good idea. Did I ever
withhold anything from you?” He took a step in her direction. She stepped back.
“No. You have always been
honest. Maybe that’s why I did what I did.” She said sadly. Mark caught it. Jacqueline walked over to the chair
and sat down, head bowed.
“The day you came to me, I had just found out I was pregnant. I was so happy. We were
happy. At least I thought we were.” She looked up to him. He looked back at her, blankly.
“But after you
told me you were going back to your first wife. I knew I had no choice but terminate the pregnancy. All your wife needed to
know is you had a child by someone else. I didn’t want that for you.” She continued. Mark’s anger was slowly
fading. He walked over to the sofa silently and took a seat, He wanted to hear her out. More like he needed to hear her out.
“But
you didn’t terminate it.” Mark reminded her. She half smiled.
“When I was laying on that table, waiting
to have it taken out. The baby fluttered. I put my hand on it and knew. I couldn’t get rid of my baby. So I hid him
from everyone but Vince. I told Dawn a few months ago.” She told him.
“Yeah, she tried to warn you I was
coming. Check your messages.” He informed her. Jacqueline stared at him confused. She went over to the message machine
and push the button. She heard Dawn before she was cut off. Jacqueline turned to him with anger in her eyes.
“Stacy?
Stacy told you? How did she......?” She began to ask.
“A few months back, I caught her coming out of your
room. She said something about putting something back. I gather she had took this.” Mark produced the picture of their
son. Jacqueline walked slowly towards him, staring at the picture. She reached and took it in her hand as if it was Marcus
himself. She looked up at him.
“I thought I lost this.” She said softly, looking back down at the picture.
“Jackie!
Honey, why didn’t you trust me enough to tell me?” He walked up to her. She looked up at him with tears in her
eyes.
“I don’t know. I do know. It’s as I said. I didn’t want any problems with your wife and
you. And goes the same for this wife.” She looked at him with great determination. Mark stared down and sighed. What
could he do?
Chapter Sixteen
Mark stared down at Jacqueline,
as she explained why she didn’t tell him they had a child between them. Though he understood her pain and confusion,
when he broke up with her. Or even the fact she struggled with the decision alone, whether to terminate the pregnancy or not.
Still the fact remained, she never gave him a choice.
“I understand everything you went through. And I sympathize
with you. But don’t you realized the pain I’m feeling at this moment. You never gave ME a chance to get to know
my child. Or to even say if I want him in my life or not.” Mark said to her. Jacqueline could see he was in pain. She
turned from him, not wanting to see it. Yeah, she had made a mistake. It wasn’t her decision alone to make. He should
have been included.
“You’re right Mark. So right. I thought I was doing the best thing for all of us. I
thought you and I had something special. I was so happy that day.” Jacqueline wrapped her arms about herself and walked
around the room. Mark watched her intensely. She had carried a heavy load for so long. And no matter what he felt, part of
the blame did fall on him.
“We shared such wonderful times between us. And the lovemaking was off the chart.
It had to be. Look who we made together.” Jacqueline looked over to him smiling, tears filling her eyes. Mark’s
eyes softened, as he stared into those beautiful glistening eyes. He nodded in agreement.
“I know honey! He’s
beautiful.” Mark told her and walked to her, placing his hands on either side of her shoulders. He stared down into
those eyes that captured him once and still had that power.
“I want to be a part of my son’s life.”
He said to her. Jacqueline didn’t know where this was leading.
“How Mark, without causing problems between
your wife and you. I heard about her and her backstage antics. I don’t want her near my son. Please!” Jacqueline
pulled from him and walked away. Mark stood holding his hands where Jacqueline had been.
“She’s changed.
I want Marcus to know his sister.” Mark came up behind Jacqueline, touching her shoulders once again. He couldn’t
keep his hands off her. Whenever she was near him, everything seemed right.
“Has she now?” Jacqueline said,
turning around to face him. Mark stared at her then turned his head from her searching eyes.
“What are you saying?”
Mark asked, knowing exactly what she was saying. Jacqueline was never one for gossip. But in this business everyone knows
your business if you’re not careful with how you display things. And his wife wasn’t one to hide her indiscretions.
“I’m
not going to hurt you by saying it. But you know as well as I do, what’s going on. But you’re right! Your daughter
and Marcus are innocent here. They shouldn’t have to pay for our mistakes. I want him to know his sister too. But how
can we do this without involving her?” Jacqueline was emphatic about her getting near her son.
“Now we’re
doing what I was angry about. Secrets and lies. I don’t want this to come back and bite me in the ass. I’m going
to tell her everything.” Mark told Jacqueline. She could feel the anger form within. But understood his stance.
“Fine,
Mark! But as I said. I don’t want her near my child.” She was letting him know she will not relent.
“Our
child. But if you want the kids to know each other, that will probably be something you may have to rethink.” He informed
her. Jacqueline shuddered. This is not going to go well.
“He’s with her at this very moment. Vince is
pissed.” Stacy spoke into her cell phone.
“Thank you Stacy for informing me. I’ll deal with this
myself. And don’t worry. No one will know how I found out.” The person told Stacy. She smiled.
This is
even better. What a great way to get both Jackie and Mark back for their treatment of her. She snapped the cell phone closed
and went to take a nice shower. Mark’s wife had wondered why he wasn’t on the show as scheduled. She tried to
get him and apparently he had his cell phone off. And of course, who to call but Stacy, as no one else would have told her
anything.
Chapter Seventeen
Mark made the trip home.
He walked into the house and sat his bags down and headed straight for the bar. A place he found he visited often while home.
That’s when she walked in carrying his daughter. He looked over at her and could see she was ready to start something.
“So
how was the show?” She said, sitting down on the sofa and sat their daughter down on the floor, who ran immediately
to her father. Mark place the drink on the bar counter and picked her up.
“You already know I wasn’t on
it. Why do you always play these games?” Mark took a quick glance over to her then back to his daughter. She was beautiful.
He couldn’t wait to see Marcus and her together.
“Games? If anyone is playing a game. It would be you.”
She retorted. Mark’s eyes shot over to her.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. But knowing
you, you’ll inform me.” He stared at her. She smiled and stood to her feet, walking over to him and leaned on
the bar counter.
“There was a well kept secret that was brought to my attention tonight. And I was surprise to
know that no many people knew about it. How well you kept this secret.” She started. Mark felt something pass through
him. She found out.
“I know where you’re going with this. So spill.” Mark said without emotions.
This is how its been between them for a long time.
He had been committed to make it work. No matter how loose she
had become. But now things were changing. His daughter is what had become important in this marriage. And in due time, this
will come to an end. That’s something he didn’t tell Jackie. He didn’t want her to think it was because
of Marcus and her.
“Jackie, Mark? You slept with Jackie?” She began to laugh. Mark glared at her.
“Why
not? She’s a beautiful vibrant woman. No one has made me feel as she had or ever will.” His voice in his low deep
drawl, as he raised his eyebrows. He saw her body shiver. He struck a cord.
“You listen to me you SOB! If you
every go near her again. I’ll take your daughter and leave. You’ll never see her again. Understood!” She
yelled at him. Mark felt his daughter squirm in his arms. He went to the door and called for someone. The lady came and he
handed her his daughter. Then he turned on his wife with bent up fury.
“Let me straighten you out here. First
off, don’t you ever again, threaten me using my daughter. If you want to leave, go! And don’t look back. But my
child will stay with me.” He stalked towards her. She stepped back, seeing a side he had never displayed to her. She
had did and said what she pleased and he took it. Something had changed.
“Damn girl! You had my heart in your
hands and didn’t know what to do with it. Oh, yeah you did. You threw it on the ground and stomped it every chance you
got. I tried to keep face and look the other way, defending you to everyone. Even the fans.” He grew silent for a moment,
shaking his head. His mind wandering back over the last couple of years. He looked up at her, his eyes were dark slits.
“You
never deserve the love I held for you. Now its gone, never to return. And that’s sad, because when you love that deeply
and lose it, it hurts like hell. But then you wouldn’t know that. Because you’re incapable of loving that hard.”
He said to her and went to leave the room.
“Mark!” She started. He turned to look at her an held up his
hand.
“Don’t say a word! You have said enough to last a lifetime.” He told her and walked over to
her, standing inches away.
“Now this is what is going to happen. You’re going to play the devoted wife
and I the happy husband.” He explained to her. She tired to capture her breath. She had lost control of this situation.
So
this won’t be another game we play, I have a son with Jackie. That I know you know. But I’m putting it out there.”
he went over to the bar and took the drink he had poured and threw it down. Then he looked at the empty glass.
“Our
daughter and my son will know each other. I’ll spend time with them without either mother. That way there will be no
confusion where this is going.” He stared at her for a moment, to see if she got it. Then decided he didn’t really
care if she did or not, leaving her standing in the midst of the room. She was no longer in control, he was.
Chapter Eighteen
The next morning, Mark was
up making arrangements to have his lakeside cabin child proof. He called and got with Jacqueline, telling her what his plans
were. She was okay with it. It took a few weeks but it was finally ready for them..
Mark took his daughter and placed
her in her car seat. His wife stood glaring at him. It seemed he had changed into this devoted father, every since he found
out about his son. She resented it very much and derived a plan while he was away, frollicking with his kids. She watched
them drive away and disappear down the road. Then she went back into the house and poured her a drink. Waiting for the right
time.
Sometime later, Mark drove up in front of Jacqueline’s house. He took his daughter out of the car seat
and carried her up to the door. He was very nervous, not sure if Marcus would go with him. He rung the bell and waited. It
flew opened.
“Daddy! Daddy!“ Marcus called to him, wrapping his small arms around his legs. Mark stood
there stunned. Jacqueline appeared in the doorway staring and smiling at the scene.
“He knows me?“ Mark
asked, surprised. The last time he had saw Marcus he was sleeping, so they never were formally introduced.
“Of
course. He has known about you from the beginning. He watched wrestling and understood that you were his father. I had hopes,
maybe one day he would seek you out himself when he was older.” She explained. Mark reached down and picked his son
up in his other arm. Jacqueline stood back and watched him move pass her, with his children in his arm.
After he packed
up Marcus’ things into the car, they left Jacqueline waving to them. She was glad Mark had a chance to bond with them
alone. This should prove very interesting, she thought, smiling as they drove down the driveway and out unto the street. She
watched them, until they disappeared from her sight. Then backed into the house, closing the door behind her.
She
leaned against the door, staring around the empty house. This is the first time she had been there with Marcus somewhere about.
She allowed a huge sigh to exit and went to find something to occupy her mind.
Jacqueline went into her living room,
flopped down on the sofa and picked up an magazine laying on her coffee table in front of her. She began to thumb through
it blankly, then got bored with that. She leaned back into the sofa, shifting her body from time to time. How was she going
to get through the next few days?
She sat up and thought of something, She rose from the sofa and went over to her
desk and picked up the phone. It had been half an hour since Mark took Marcus. She dialed the number and listen to the ringing
from the other end, hoping they person was home.
“Hello!” The voice of her redemption came through.
“Dawn?”
She called.
“Jackie?” Dawn replied.
“Yeah!” She sat down and began to play with the
cord.
“What is it girlfriend?” She knew this was the day mark was taking Marcus away for a few days. And
also knew this was going to be hard for Jackie.
“I don’t no. Yeah, I do.” She told her. Jacqueline
wasn’t much for saying a lot. Unless she got her riled.
“You want some company?” Dawn suggested,
knowing Jackie was never one to impose on others.
“Well, no! Yeah. I don’t know. Maybe so.” She rose
from the chair and began to pace.
“I’ll be there in a few. We can look at some movies. No I got an better
idea. We’re going out for the night. It’s been a while since you had a real girls night out. I’ll get some
of the others and we’re going to paint the town.” Dawn said excitedly. Jackie smiled. Yeah, that would get her
mind off not having Marcus around. Since his birth, its been work and taking care of him. But she never regretted her lifestyle.
“Sounds
good to me. I‘ll go get ready.” She answered.
“Okay! See you in a few.” Dawn told her.
“Dawn?”
Jackie called to her.
“Yeah, Jackie?” She answered.
“Thanks!” She told her. Dawn grew
silent for a moment.
“Don’t mention it. You’ve been there for me over the years. It’s the least
I can do. See you later.” Dawn told her and hung up. Jacqueline held the phone for a while, then placed in it in its
cradle. Dawn and her go way back.
She began to walk away when she heard the doorbell ringing. She paused, listening
another ring. And when it did, headed for the door. She came up to the door and peered through the peephole. She didn’t
get uninvited guests unless they were solicitors. She looked through it and stepped back, not sure she was seeing who she
was seeing. She looked again and couldn’t figure this one out. Or could she?
“Damn! What is she doing here?”
Jacqueline said to herself after peering through the peephole.
“Open up Jackie! I know you’re in there.
I saw you waving Mark and the kids on.” She hollered from the other side of the door. Jacqueline backed away form the
door. Maybe she’ll go away if she didn’t answer.
“Jackie! You might as well open the door and get
this over between us. Or should I accompany Mark to one of the shows and we can do this in front of your co-workers?”
She threaten her and that was a big mistake. Jacqueline turned the knob and swung the door opened.
“What are
you doing here?” She stared down Mark’s wife. She hated being threaten and felt herself getting to that point.
Chapter Nineteen
“I’m going to ask you one
more time. What are you doing here?” Jacqueline stood in the doorway of her home. Mark’s wife swayed back and
forth. Jacqueline could see she had been drinking.
“I want to talk to you about my husband and you.” She
said, her words slurring.
Jacqueline had two choices. Slam the door in her face, she leaves in this condition. Getting
in an accident, killing herself or some innocent person. Or allow her entrance and deal with the drunken ramblings. She wondered
how she made it here without doing just that. She elected the latter.
“Come in!” She said, stepping back
out of the door. She swayed a little and stumbled into the house. She looked around the house, assessing it.
“Hmmm!
Not bad. Not bad at all. Nice play you got here Jackie.” She said, searching for something more to drink.
“Okay!
Let’s cut the chit chat. What is it you want to talk to me about?” Jacqueline was never one for beating around
the bush. She nodded her head, turning to Jacqueline.
“I want to make this perfectly clear. You can’t have
him. He’s mine.” She told Jacqueline, who crossed her arms over her chest and leaning on one leg.
“I
can’t have him? What the hell are you talking about, I can’t have him?” Jacqueline frowned.
“Mark!
You can’t have him. I know the game you’re playing. Now that he knows you two had a child when you were together,
he’ll want to be with you more.” Mark’s with began to get a little upset. Jacqueline chuckled and turned
away from her, shaking her head.
“You have no idea of what you’re saying. Mark doesn’t want me. It’s
you he loves and always will.” Jacqueline turned her head to stare at her. She backed away from Jacqueline, shaking
her head and pointing to Jacqueline.
“No! He wants you. Yeah, he’s happy with the child between you. It
just gives him more reasons to come see you.” She began to walk around the room. Jacqueline laughed again.
“Girl
please! He could have been with me back then, we were happy. But he chose to go back to his first wife.” Jacqueline
said with a hint of hurt. Mark’s wife looked to her.
“My point exactly. He went back to her, but didn’t
make it. Why was that, Jackie?” She reminded her.
“I don’t know. Maybe it was to little, too late.
Or they tried to make a marriage that was already broken work. I don’t know! Ask him.” Jacqueline shrugged her
shoulder.
“Or maybe you were in his blood too deep for anyone else to penetrate.” She said, with a calm
eerie voice. Jacqueline stared into the dark eyes.
“Sure! So deep he married you soon after he was divorced.
I didn’t see him seeking me out that much. Out of sight, out of mind.” Jacqueline’s voice just as calm,
eyes just as dark.
“But not out of his heart. You have a place there, no woman will ever take.” She took
in a deep breath and allowed it to flow freely out of her mouth. Jacqueline stared silently at her, somewhat knowing the words
she spoke were true. Mark basically told her that himself.
“I think you should sober up, then go home and make
your husband happy. It’s you who really hold the key to his heart. Not me. I‘m going to make you some coffee.”
Jacqueline told her and started for the kitchen.
That’s when she heard the movement from behind her, turned
and watched Mark’s wife bolt for the door. Jacqueline instantly took off after her, to keep her from getting in the
car. She would do everything in her power to make sure she didn‘t do anything stupid and ruin her life.
But the
others legs were a little longer than Jacqueline and her determination just as strong. She made it to the car and got in behind
the wheel, as Jacqueline came up alongside her.
“Stop! Don’t do this. Think of your beautiful little girl.”
Jacqueline tried to reason with her.
She gave Jacqueline a quick glance, then turned her head and started up the car.
She pulled off, dragging Jacqueline with her. Jacqueline lost her footing and fell down, as the back wheel ran over her.
Just
at that moment, Dawn and friends drove up, witnessing the scene. They stopped their car and ran over to Jacqueline, lying
unconscious on the ground. The other car sped away.
“Jackie! Jackie!” Dawn called to her, crying. Terri
was on her cell phone calling 911!
“I know that car!” Torrie said, watching the car disappear. Terri walked
over to her, closing her cell phone.
“Who is it Torrie?” Terri asked, staring down the empty road.
“That’s
Mark’s wife’s car.” She said, turning to look at Terri. Dawn looked up from where Jacqueline’s still
body laid, tearing streaming down her cheeks.
“What the hell was she doing here?” Dawn wondered.
“Someone
needs to get in touch with Mark.” Torrie said, coming to kneel next to Dawn.
“We can’t. He’s
away somewhere with the kids. Not even Vince, was giving his whereabouts. Only Jacqueline knew.” Dawn informed them
as the distance shrill of the sirens came towards them.
Chapter Twenty
Mark had enjoyed his few days
alone with his two children. Marcus was already being the big brother. He had deliberately left cell phone off to make sure,
no one interrupted this time. Everything went well. he couldn’t have asked for a more fulfilling time.
He packed
the last of their things in the car, then went to put both children in car seats, in the back. He locked up the cabin and
headed for home. That’s when he decided to give Jacqueline a call and let her know he was on his way. He punched in
her number and waited to hear her voice. He never noticed he had several messages.
“Hello!” The sound of
another’s voice coming through started him.
“Hello? Who is this?” He demanded. Silence! Then the
person identified themselves, recognizing his voice.
“Mark? This is Dawn!” She told him. He furrowed his
brows.
“Dawn? Oh hi! May I please speak t Jackie.” He asked. A long paused. He suddenly got this gut feeling
something was wrong.
“You didn’t get any messages left for you by Vince. Did you?” Dawn asked. Mark
took his phone from his ear and checked to see. Yes, it was true. He had messages.
“No, I didn’t check.
But I see them now. I was calling to let Jackie know I’m bringing Marcus home.” Mark told her.
“Mark!
You need to listen to your messages. I don’t have the heart to go through it.” Dawn’s voice began to shake.
Mark didn’t like this at all. He pulled over to the side of the road to talk.
“Dawn! I don’t want
to go through some voice on a damn phone. Obviously something has happened for Vince to call me. And you sound like shit!
So tell ME!” Mark’s deep voice boomed through the phone. Dan began to cry, setting down the phone.
“Mark
you asshole. Get your ass here now and we’ll tell you then.” Ivory’s voice stern, hanging up the phone.
Always can depend on Ivory to be tactful.
Mark listen to the dial tone, then began to pick up his messages. His heart
sunk when he heard something had happened to Jacqueline, the day he had taken the kids. He wouldn’t go over it on the
phone, but needed him to come back.
Mark closed the phone and looked back at Marcus. Him and sister were sound asleep.
His heart sunk, when he thought of this little child going on without his mother. He could only hope it wasn’t anything
life altering. he turned around in his seat and started the car up. He headed down the road in deep thought. Please Jackie
be alright. He had lost her once, he didn’t want that anymore.
Mark drove the distance and time it took to get
to Jacqueline’s house. he saw a few cars parked in her driveway and in front of her house. H knew then his fears were
confirmed. He thought of what he was going to do now as far as his son is concerned.
Dawn was the first to see him
drive up. She dropped everything and ran out the house, as he was getting out of the car. By now Marcus and sister were awake.
Marcus was squirming in the back, wanting to get out and see his mother. Dawn looked pass Mark at Marcus and grabbing his
arm, pulled him away from Marcus’ ear shot.
“I’m sorry Mark. But you’re going to have to take
Marcus. Jackie’s not going to be able to.” Dawn told him. He looked at her, fighting back the tears and trying
to hold back the pain consuming his heart.
“It’s Jackie, huh? She’s gone isn’t she?”
He asked, through clenched teeth. Dawn broke down and began to cry.
Mark walked away from her, not excepting it. Not
his Jackie. He would have felt it, her gone if it was so. He would have felt this heavy void in his heart. But the warmth
she had put there, illuminated.
“Mark!” Dawn called to him gathering herself. Mark turned to her.
“She’s
in the hospital. I’m sorry if I made you believe otherwise. It’s just been so hard on me. She’s my best
friend, like a sister.” Dawn explained walking over to him. Mark was looking at Marcus crying to get out of the car.
He missed his mother.
“What happened?” Mark asked, seeing Ivory walking out of the house and going to the
car, talking to Marcus. Whatever she was saying must have helped. He stopped crying.
“She was ran over by a car.”
Dawn told him. He continued to look at Ivory tending to the children.
“How bad is she?” he asked, his
voice in one log monotone.
“She’s in a coma right now. She has swelling around her spinal cord. They’re
not sure, but she may not ever walk again.” Dawn broke it down to him.
Ivory looked over to where they were
talking and knew about what. She gestured to him she was taking the children out of the car. He nodded and watched her take
his daughter out of the car seat.
“How did it happened?” He asked, as he saw Terri coming out of the house.
“She
was trying to stop a drunk driver from getting behind the wheel.” Dawn told him. He slightly turned his head to the
side, looking out the corner of his eyes.
“I guess is didn’t work.” Mark gathered. Terri had Marcus
and was walking him into the house. He seemed to be asking for his mother.
“Did anyone see who did it?”
Mark asked. Dawn bowed her head, looking at the ground and nodded.
“We did! It was your wife!” She told
him. It took a moment, but it sunk in. he turned completely around to face Dawn.
Chapter Twenty-One
Mark stood
in the doorway of the hospital room where Jacqueline laid in a coma. He felt the tears swell in his eyes, as he saw how fragile
she looked. This was not his Jackie. She was a tough little something. She didn’t back down from anything or anyone.
He
walked over to her bed, looking at the tubes that extended from her body. He pulled the chair up next to her bed and sat down,
taking her tiny hand into his own. He laid his head on them and began to say a prayer.
“Jackie my Love! Please
don’t leave us. Marcus and I need you so much. One thing I could always count on these last few years is, no matter
what I went through. You were always there, someway.” He said, turning his head to the side and staring into space.
He had made so many bad decisions when it came to the two of them. If given the chance again, he would correct it.
She
felt his present before he aid a word. She could feel herself leaving the darkness that had taken her over. Her body was coming
alive and with it the pain that course through her body. She began to stir, as her eyes slowly parted and closed, as the light
stung them.
“Oh God! It hurts like hell!” Her voice rasp from lack of water. Mark’s head shot up
and stared at her. She was opening and closing her eyes, trying to get them adjusted to the light illuminating the room.
“Jackie
baby! You’re awake!” Mark grew excited. Jacqueline finally got her eyes use to the light enough to peer through
her eyelids. Her head turned towards the person speaking to her.
“Mark!” She whispered. He squeezed her
hand gently.
“Yes, my darlin’! It’s me.” he answered, holding back the tears that would fall.
He didn’t want her to see him this way. He had to be strong for her. her face grimaced.
“It hurts so bad.”
She told him. He immediately an to the door.
“Hey, someone please come in here. She’s woke and needs something
for pain.” he yelled towards the nurses’ station. He saw a nurse rushing form behind the desk and towards the
room.
“She came up to the huge man blocking the door and peered into the room.
Jacqueline was indeed
awake and stirring in the bed. She looked up to him and gestured that she needed to get pass. He stepped back and allowed
her entrance. She went over to Jacqueline and checked the IV, then pushed a button.
She checked her blood pressure,
took her temperature, here breathing and her pulse rate. Everything seem to be in aright. Mark stood next to her watching
everything she did and wrote down.
The nurse was getting a little uneasy, with him standing over her. She didn’t
want him getting angry with her for anything. She finished with what she had to do and left the room, breathing a sigh of
relief. She went back behind the nurse’s station and called for Jacqueline’s doctor, to inform him she had awaken.
“How
you feeling now?” He asked taking his seat in the chair and her hand. She raised the other hand to her forehead and
stared out.
“Not so much pain. Where is Marcus?” She asked, turning her head to look at him.
“He’s
with Dawn, Ivory and Terri. They’re at your house.” He informed her. She stared at him for a moment then pas him.
Someone was entering the room. Mark turned his head and looked over his shoulder as the doctor came to join them.
“Hello
Ms Moore! I’m Dr. Gannon! I’ll be giving you an extensive examination. Sir, if you don’t mind. Could you
wait in the waiting room until we’re finished.” The doctor introduced himself and looked to Mark, who had stood
his full height.
“If you don’t mind. I rather stay and see what your verdict is.” Mark told him.
The doctor looked him up and down, not wanting a confrontation.
“It’s okay Mark. I’ll be alright.
You can go and check on Marcus for me. That would be a great help.” Jacqueline looked up at him drained of most of her
energy. Mark turned his he a slightly towards her had stared for a long time without saying a word. Then realized this was
her decision and didn’t want to upset her.
“Okay Jackie. Whatever you want.” He said going over to
her and leaned in, kissing her forehead. She raised her hand and stroked the side of his face lightly. he stared into the
glistening eyes and smiled. Then he straighten, turned and walked out of the room, pass the doctor without a glance.
“Your
husband is a big man. And I can tell he cares a lot for you. When I’m finished we can all go over my findings together.”
He told her. Jacqueline just stared at him, never disputing the assumption Mark was her husband. The nurse came in and closed
the door to the room, as the prepared for the examination.
“Hi Dawn!” He decided not to leave, he was determined
to stay close to her. He needed to know everything and how he can help her get through this.
“Mark!” Dawn
called into the phone. He could hear the voices of Ivory and Terri inquiring.
“Well, it‘s some good news.
She woke up a few minutes ago.” He started when Dawn began to yell and tell the others. He pulled the phone from his
ears, while they screamed for joy.
“Okay! Wait, I’ll ask him. How is she? When is she coming home?”
Dawn asked, half talking to him and the two in the background.
“She was in a lot of pain, when she woke up.
The nurse gave her something and that seemed to help. The doctor is in there now, checking her over. How is Marcus doing?”
He asked.
“Marcus is doing fine. He just misses his Mom. And he ask if you’re going to leave him like before.
I guess the little guy got use to having you around.” Dawn said softly. Silence ruled the background, as the other two
saw that the conversation had drifted elsewhere.
“No! I won’t be leaving him again. Or her, if I have anything
to say about it. Tell him his Mommy is okay and I’ll be home tonight to tuck him in.” Mark asked of her and hung
up the phone. He leaned back against the wall and went deep in thought. he hadn’t called his wife yet. And chose not
to. What he had to say to her he needed to do in person.
Chapter Twenty-Two
The doctor finished with
his examination. He wrote down what his findings had been. He took the nurse to the side and went his notes with her. Jacqueline
looked at them anxious to hear what he said. One thing she knew that put a frown on his face, was the fact she couldn’t
feel anything from the waist down.
“Ms Moore! I’m going to send for your husband and then we can go over
what I have found.” The doctor said, coming over to Jacqueline.
“No! I want you to tell me alone. I’ll
tell him.” She said, looking from the doctor and to the nurse who was just going for Mark.
“As you wish.”
He replied and gestured. Who left the room and went back to the nurse’s station.
“You took a bad trauma
to your back. The spinal cord has a lot of fluid and swelling around it. We can’t do much until the swelling goes down,
then we can determined the extent of the damage. You understand me so far?” The doctor asked her. Jacqueline nodded
her head.
“Good! Now this is one of the main reasons you’re not feeling anything.” He explained.
“Will
I ever walk again?” Jacqueline to the point. The doctor admired her straight forwardness.
“We can’t
determine that, until we get the swelling down and drain the fluid.” He repeated to her.
“Okay doctor!
Lets cut the crap. With your experience in this field and seeing hundreds or thousands of cases as mine. What is your take
on whether I will walk again!” She had lost her patience. The doctor stood to his feet and took a few steps away from
her, then turned and stared long and hard at her.
“From what I see and know. You may never walk again.”
He said, seeing she wanted his honest opinion. Jacqueline stared at him for a while, then turned her head the other away.
She laid there in silence, listening to his foot steps fade away. The ‘never walk again’ replaying in her mind.
Mark
fell against the wall outside her room and felt his legs go weak under him, after hearing what the doctor had to tell her.
He had grew impatient with waiting, decided to come back and question the doctor.
He knew it was an possibility she
made or made not walk again. That much Dawn had told him. But actually hearing the doctor confirm their worst fears, had a
great impact. He heard the doctor leaving the room and didn’t want her knowing he knew, so he left. Then he turned around
and came back up the hall, as if he was just coming back.
“Oh Mr. Moore!” The doctor called to him, seeing
him coming down the hall. ‘Mr. Moore?’ Mark thought. Oh yeah. He thought he was her husband and she didn’t
make it any better. So he left it alone.
“Yes? So what do you think?” Mark stared down at him knowing what
he thought. The doctor let out a sigh, he could see Mark has a short fuse and he didn’t want to be the one to ignite
it.
“Umm! I’m sorry but I’m not at liberty to discuss this with you. I think your wife would prefer
you two do that together.” The doctor explained.
Mark looked to Jacqueline’s room, then gestured for the
doctor to follow him. He heard when Jackie told the doctor not to have him in on the discussion and that she would tell him.
“Is there somewhere we can talk privately?” Mark asked, distancing them from her hearing range. The doctor
nodded and headed away from him.
“My office will do. Come with me.” He said, without hesitation.
They
rounded a few corners and came to a door, that the doctor entered and gestured for Mark to have a seat in a chair in front
of his desk. The doctor rounded the desk and sat in his chair. He leaned in and began to speak with Mark.
“As
I was telling you Mr. Moore! I can’t discuss your wife’s condition. So many rules has change. Doctor, patient
confidentiality.” He explained. Mark, nodded and respected his stance. But he needed to know what they could do to get
her back on her feet.
“I understand that and wouldn’t want you to break that. But if we were talking as
a teacher pupil. What is it you would tell me about a study I have who had the same condition?” Mark asked. The doctor
stared long and hard at Mark’s cleverness. He smiled then sat back.
“You care deeply for her don’t
you?” The doctor asked.
“More than you could ever know.” Mark replied.
“Okay! I’ll
tell you everything you need to know. But let me make this perfectly clear. We have know idea where this is going to leave.
Teacher to pupil. The mental thing is the hardest. Especially if everything fails and the worst outcome stares you in the
face.” He told mark, letting him know this would not be an easy road. Mark nodded. The doctor proceeded to educated
mark on what his life will be like if she does and doesn’t walk. Either way it will be time consuming and a very heavy
mental stress.
Jacqueline had heard the doctor call to ‘Mr. Moore’. She assumed it was Mark. She was right.
She heard the low mumbling of his voice.
She wiped the tears form her eyes and waited for him to come in. But he never
did. So she called for something for pain and was drifting off to sleep, just as she saw someone coming into her room. Mark’s
wife!
Chapter Twenty-Three
Mark’s wife stood at the entrance of Jacqueline’s
hospital room, staring at Jacqueline lying in her bed. She had just come to the door, as Jacqueline turned her head towards
her and closing her eyes, succumbed to the pain medication. Mark’s wife closed the door, peering put to make sure no
one had seen her come in.
She looked back over her shoulder to Jacqueline. Then turned and slowly approached her bed,
checking to see if she was awake or not. Seeing she was out, took seat in the chair next to her bed.
“I’m
so sorry Jackie! I didn’t mean for this to happen. Honest!” She began to cry. She studied her hands foe a few
moments, rubbing them together. Then looked up to the woman, who had made an attempt, to stop her from killing herself while
driving drunk. And who instead was ran over by her.
“Can you ever forgive me? I know you tried to stop me from
killing myself and here you are, lying here. When it should be me!” She said, covering her face with her hands.
Suddenly,
she felt a strong hand grab her arm and snatched her out of the chair, dragging her out of the room and down the hall. She
stared up into the angry face of Mark. Then to where they were going. He came to an empty you and shoved her into it.
“What
the HELL, are you doing here?” He yelled. Trying to contain his anger.
“I came to see Jackie! She saved
my life. I’m the reason she’s her, Mark!” She tried to explain. He glared over to her.
“What
were you doing there in the first place?” He slowly walk toward her, stopping a couple of feet away. She took a couple
of steps backwards.
“I-I-I just wanted to talk.” She told him. He took in a deep breath and blew it out,
hands on his hips.
“Nah! You were up to your tricks. That’s why you waited until I had left. You went
there to confront her about everything.” Mark shook his head and pointed his huge finger at her.
“Yeah,
but not like this.” She said, crying. He looked at her without any sympathy. All of that was saved for the woman fighting
for her life. Literally.
“What did you think would happened, when you drink and drive? You’ve seen it many
of times. On TV. In the newspapers, on the damn poster and whatever. I’m so tired of all of this.” Mark walked
away from her, running his hand over his head. He stood there in silence. Then turned his head to her.
“I want
you to leave now and never come near her again. We’ll talk when I get home. I’m too tired to get into this with
you. I have to deal with Jackie and her recovery.” He told her. She stiffed a sob and glared at him.
“What
do you mean, you’re tired of all of this? And what is this about being there to help her recover?” She walked
up to look him dead in the eyes. He looked her straight into her eyes, never once blinking.
“I said I will discuss
this when I get home. Now is not the time. Now go!” He told her. She stepped back, looking him up an down. “I’ll
go! But understand one thing. I meant it when I said you’ll never see your daughter if you ever decide to divorce me.”
She reminded him of an conversation that had went wrong. Mark’s body quake.
She went to walk pass him and out
of the room. He grabbed her arm with such force and pulled her close to him, there bodies just touching. Mark aligned his
face with hers, as her eyes met dark green slits that once were his eyes.
“Remember I said never to threaten
me by using my daughter. You did it anyway. Now you will see how I deal with threats.” He said and shoved her away from
him. She nearly fell, but caught herself on a chair.
She stared at him for a moment, fear griping her. She knew at
once, she had crossed a line that never should had been crossed. She rushed passed him and out of the room. Making her way
down the hall, nearly knocking people over.
Mark swiped his face, letting out a deep breath. This is the last of this,
he thought. He gathered himself and headed for Jacqueline’s room.
Chapter Twenty-Four
After two weeks in the
hospital, Jacqueline was release to a rehab hospital for extensive Physical and Occupational Therapy. They wanted to make
sure she was able to take care of child and herself when she went home. She refused to see Marcus while in the hospital and
even more when she went into rehab. She didn’t want him to see her in that state.
Mark took an self impose separation
from his wife. And took a leave of absence form the WWE. She had no idea this was what he was doing. He just told her he was
caring for Marcus while Jacqueline was away. He needed time to think things through.
He would get his daughter and
bring her over to play with Marcus. Dawn Marie, Terri and Ivory, helped out as much as they could. Terri was doing very little
in the WWE at this time, as well as Ivory.
Jacqueline had her good and bad days. Sometimes she wanted to up and leave,
everything behind. But Marcus always would make his presence in her mind. This gave her a strong determination to walk again,
so she could take care of her son. She appreciated all Mark and her friends were doing. But Marcus needed her. This is what
gave her the courage to go on.
After three months of grueling therapy, Jacqueline was ready to go home. The doctor
was very satisfied with her progress and decided to release her. She would continued to get therapy in home.
Mark’s
wife walked into the family room and stopped short. She looked around the room and wondered why Mark, his lawyer and hers
were there. She walked over to the bar and took a bottle of water from the small refrigerator. She stepped back and leaned
against the wall, screwing the top off the bottle and took a quick sip.
“Well this is quite interesting.”
She looked from one to the other. Mark sat quietly, not looking at her. Her lawyer stood up and walked over, leaning on the
bar counter.
“I was just speaking to your husband and his lawyer. And they have a nice offer on the table that
I think you will find very generous.“ He started. She took another sip and stared at him then over to Mark and his lawyer.
“Discussing?
What do you mean, discussing?” She asked, eyes fixed on Mark,
“Well, talking about doing this in a very
discreet manner.” He stumbled, knowing how she can be.
“Doing what?” She fished. He looked back to
Mark and his lawyer. Mark’s lawyer was never one for patience, he rose quickly to his feet and walked over to them.
Mark continued to look away.
“Look! Mark has decided this isn’t working anymore. He wants a divorce and
is willing to give you a very hefty settlement. So if you have any sense, you’ll take it and run.” He laid it
right out there. Her eyes narrowed, then she turned them on Mark. Mark stood up and walked over to the sliding doors, staring
out into the back.
“No, you listen you pint-sized jackass. I’m not going to end this anyway but my way.
I don’t care what you, you or he thinks is a nice settlement.” She pointed to her lawyer, Mark’s lawyer
and Mark. Mark continued to staring. The two lawyers knew she wasn’t going down without a fight. But at least they did
try.
“Look! I’m trying to help here!” Her lawyer tried to explain his position.
“No!
Look at him, the arrogant pompous asshole! It’s all about him. Always has been and always will be! He decided this ain’t
working. He wants a divorce. He has given me a hefty settlement. Well, I know what this is all about and who.” She sat
the bottle down and walked around the bar and stood in front of the two lawyers.
“What?“ Her lawyer looked
at her.
“Oh! I bet they didn’t let you in on the little secret, while they were getting you to dig that
knife in my back. Now did you?” She looked at her lawyer then to Mark’s.
“What is she talking about?”
Her lawyer turns to Mark’s.
“Nothing important.” Mark’s lawyer waved his hand, as if dismissing
it.
“Don’t play me for a fool. Mark wants to divorce me and be with his little tart, that had a kid for
him a few years back.” She crossed her arms over her chest and looked over her shoulder to Mark. He remained silent.
“What?
Mark had an affair and there’s a child. What are you two pulling?” Her lawyer looked at the other and Mark. Mark
turned, stared long and hard.
“My son is four years old. He was conceived when I was separated from my first
wife. Long before her.” He finally broke his silence and came over to join the threesome.
“And now that
you brought up this situation with Jackie. I’m going to give your lawyer and mine some very interesting information.
Both are officers of the law and you know what that means. I hope your lawyer will be able to convince you to take the settlement
and go.” Mark looked down on her with little anger. Any emotions she once controlled of him, were long gone. She lowered
her arms to her side, knowing what the information would be.
“Never mind. Let me see the papers.” She said,
with defeat in her voice. She took a seat on one of the bar stools and looked the papers over, then signed them.
She
turned to Mark, who had grew a smirk on his face. She left the stool and rushed out of the room. She leaned against the wall
and allowed the tears to fall from her eyes. She had it all. His love and devotion, but she took it for granted. Never knowing
he could shut it off so abrupt and turn from her. She knew it was time to cut her loses and go.
Chapter Twenty-Five
“Hey!
Mark to earth.” Jacqueline called, snapping him out of his thoughts. Mark looked down at her wrapped in a towel. He
hadn’t heard when she turned off the shower or when she called him for the fifth time.
“Hey Babe!”
He said, as she walked away shaking her head and smiling. He watched her sit down on the bench, doing her girlie things. That
made her skin soft and smell ever so nice.
“Where did you go? I came out of the shower and you were a million
miles away. I called you about five times I know.” She said, rubbing her hands together and applying lotion to her arms
and legs.
“I was watching you shower and my mind went back to over the last few years. And I was thinking what
a very lucky man I am.” He told her and took a seat on the couch. She smiled at him.
“I think I’m
the one who is lucky. Having you in my life has helped me through some very difficult times.” She stared at him. He
smiled.
“Yeah! I was thinking about them. Who would have thought, nearly a year ago you would be wrestling again.”
Mark said, his mind drifting back to that time.
“Or handing in my resignation. Not because I was done as a wrestler,
but because I want to pursue other things.” Jacqueline laughed. Yes, she had made it through the therapy and was able
to pick up the pieces of her life.
“Speaking of pursuing other things. I have a proposal.” He rose to
his feet, reached in his pocket and pulled out an envelope.
“What’s that?” Jacqueline asked, staring
at the envelope he was handing her.
“Open it!” He said, walking away from her.
“I waited
nearly a life time to say this. I never thought it would come. But here goes. Will you marry me?” It read. Jacqueline
eyes shot up to him. He looked over his shoulders at her, then slowly pulled his gold chained out of his shirt, revealing
three beautiful rings dangling from the end of it. One a sparkling diamond ring. And the other two matching wedding bands,
one his and the other hers.
Jacqueline stood there speechless, her hands over her mouth. Finally, it penetrated her
mind what had just happened. She let out a loud scream, ran and jumped into Mark’s arm, sending them backwards unto
the floor. She laid atop of him. Then their eyes found each other and locked.
“The answer is yes, all day long.”
She told him and covered his mouth with her own. He deepened the kiss. They kissed for a long time before they unlocked their
lips.
Mark slowly pulled the chain over and off his neck, hooking the lock and took the diamond ring off it. Then
he hooked the chain once again, putting it back around his neck. Held it up, she extended her finger.
“Here’s
to you.” He said, placing the ring on her finger. She raised it up and stared for a long time at it. Then she looked
to him.
“No Mark! here’s to us and the love we share.” Jacqueline reclaimed his lips and kissed him
deeper than she had ever, knowing soon their will be as one with the child they created. Mark came up for air, feeling the
fire in his loins growing.
“I think we better finish this later.” He rose to his feet.
“Oh
yeah. Because it’s going to be a long night. I have some real serious appreciation to show. And I don’t want to
be disturbed.” She smiled seductively and went to finished dressing. Mark smiled and walked around thinking.
It
had been along road to travel. A lot of bad decisions. But he knew this time it was the right one. Sometimes you have veer
of the path and meet up with some really bad stuff before you realize there’s a better way to go.
“Let’s
go home.” Jacqueline finished dressing and packing her bag. She came up to Mark and touched his arm.
“Home!
That word has never sounded so good.” He looked down into her eyes and swooped her off her feet, opening the door to
her dressing room. She gave a backwards look, flipped the light off and they left her dressing room for the last time.
