Part One
It was two
days before Friday the 13th. One of the few that comes within the year. But this Friday the 13th is one that will be remembered
by the little town of Snobsville. It was a small country town with about 900 in numbers. Not very friendly to outsiders. It
was like an cliche. Either you were in or you were out.
It was surrounded by woods and mountains. Very few ventured
far except to hunt and camp out or hike. But that was all the recreation they had, besides the church bingos and pool tournaments
at the bar. But nothing exciting ever happened in this little town.
Lacey had run away from home. She had tired of
the strict rules her mother and father imposed on her. She had hitchhiked to this little town and was able to get a room without
anyone saying much.
She felt she would keep an low profile and no one would be the wiser. She waited until nightfall
before hitting the streets. She had learned not many decent folk would be out to question why a sixteen year old was out on
the street alone. She had wore heavy make up and sunglasses to fool the clerk at the motel. But then they don’t usually
pry into your business anyhow.
She walked alone the streets, trying to figure out a good place to eat. Suddenly an
arm came up from behind her and wrapped around her shoulder as another person came up on the other side.
"Well well!
What do we have here? A new face I haven’t seen before." The young teen said to her as the other boy just laughed
stupidly.
"I’m going to ask you to remove your arm from me only once!" She stared into the one who had draped
his arm around her shoulder.
"Wooooo! Feisty I see!" He kept his arm in place. She squinted her eyes and her sucked
in her lips in, as she grabbed his arm and moving under it, carried it up to his back holding it there.
"Okay okay!!
Ouch!! You’re hurting me." He whined. As the other stood back confused to what to do next. She gave him an hard shoved,
sending him face first into the ground.
"Never touch me without my permission." She pointed her finger at him as he
laid there rubbing his arm. She had turned and walked away, when the boy called out to her.
Hey! Wait!" She stopped
in her steps, paused for a moment, turned and walked back towards the two boys.
"What is it you want?" She snapped,
as she glared at him.
"You aren’t from here are you?" He had stood to his feet to face her, still rubbing his
arm.
"No! And what has that got to do with anything?" She snapped again.
"Well! Since you are new and you certainly
can handle yourself. How about we take you to a place where you can get something to eat? Won’t cost you nothing." he
said slyly.
She watched the two very closely. She could tell they were trouble. But who was she to decide this. She
was very hungry. And if they know of a place she would go with them.
"This place better be legit or I’m going
to give you much more than I did!" She warned.
"Hey Look! You have been approve to hang with the rejects of the town.
It’s a good place for people like us." He started walking to the place he was talking about as the other grinned and
beckon for her to follow them.
Part Two
Lacey
followed the two boys to an old house. It stood two stories high, white stucco with yellow trimming. And a old white picket
fence surrounding it. The taller boy moved towards the house, making his way up the steps, coming to an halt on the porch,
pausing before knocking at the door.
The door slowly opened, as out emerged an sweet little old lady. She smiled at
the young boy, turned her gaze on Lacey and the boy standing at the fence. She beckon for the trio to come into the house,
while turning to go back inside. Lacey was a little hesitant at first, but the boy that was standing beside her rushed passed
her, fanning his had to tell her to join them. She thought for a moment, her stomach was fiercely grumbling, she soon followed
them into the house.
Lacey began checking the house out. Nothing out of the ordinarily. Just like an Little Old Lady’s
dwellings. In the living room was an old plaid couch with an dollie across the top. End tables with antique lamps sitting
on top of them. In front of the couch was an matching coffee table with old magazines strewn over it. And of course a rocking
chair next to the fireplace. Over in the corner stood an antique organ! All sorts of pictures covered the walls. Nothing out
of the ordinarily.
The old lady was observing Lacey very closely. Then feeling herself being watched, Lacey turned
to see the lady staring at her, started towards her. The old lady stood in the doorway holding the door, as Lacey pass by
her. She just smiled sweetly. Lacey entered the kitchen finding the boys already seated and waiting for some good home cooking.
Lacey stomach began to turn cartwheels, from the aroma emanating from the kitchen.
"Sit young lady. I will prepare
you a plate as I always do my young fellas here. I always have enough for those who are in need. You are new to our town aren’t
you?" She asked as she put food on one of the plates.
"Yes Ma’am!" She not wanting to say much.
"Where
are you from child?" The old lady asked, sitting plate in front of Lacey.
"I’m from the west coast Ma’am!"
She answered as she put a spoon full of food in her waiting mouth.
"Hummmmm!" The old lady replied and walked over
to the stove to prepare the boys plates. Soon the trio were eating.
The Old lady watched as the children devoured their
food, cleaning their plates and requesting for more. After their stomachs were full. The trio thanked the old lady and set
out for places unknown.
"Wait! Do you have a place to stay child?" The old lady was concerned.
"Yes Ma’am!
I’m staying at the motel on the edge of town." Lacey stopped and came back towards the old lady.
"Oh no child.
You can’t be staying in a hole like that. I have plenty of room here. You boys go with her, help her bring her things
back here. I will go get your room ready for you." The old lady shooed the kids on, turned and closed the door, started upstairs
to the room Lacey will be occupying.
Miss Ansel’s family were the few founders of the town. Generation of her
family had lived and died here. Lately the towns folks had been very leery of her because of her outreached to the stray kids
around. They felt if she wouldn’t feed and board them they would eventually move on. She was not intimidated. She continued
her work. Taking care of the homeless children.
The three made their way to the motel to pick up Lacey’s things.
The boy introduced themselves to Lacey.
"My name is Ben. And his name is Cal." They continued walking.
‘My
name is Lacey." She said, not missing a step.
"Well go to know you Lacey! You plan to be in town long?" Cal asked.
"I
don’t know! It’s kinda up in the air!" She said smiling at the boys for the first time.
"You’ll be
here tomorrow won’t you??" Ben asked.
"I guess I’ll be here tomorrow. Why?" She asked as the turned the
corner of the street the motel was on.
"We found this cabin in the woods. No one lives there as far as we can see.
We’re going to go in and explore it some. Want to join us?" Ben asked.
"Ummm! I don’t quite know about
going into a mysterious cabin. Someone may live there, but isn’t home at this time." She said stopping to look at the
boys.
"Okay! You’re just chicken. That’s alright with us. Because if we find nay hidden treasures, we won’t
be sharing with you!" Ben said and begun walking rapidly towards the motel. Lacey followed as Cal turned and shrugged his
shoulders following Ben. Lacey suddenly felt a strange feeling come over her. As if something very bad was going to happen.
She caught up with the boys as they made their way to her room and retrieved her belongings and headed back to Miss Ansel’s
house.
Part Three
The boys left Lacey in the care of
Miss Ansel and went their way. Lacey was curious as where Ben and Cal will be staying. I t must have reflected on her face,
because Miss Ansel came up to her and laying her hand gently on her shoulder as she stared out the window. Lacey turned to
look in the ancient eyes for the first time tonight. There she saw WISDOM!!!
"What’s wrong child?" She asked.
Guiding her to the couch in the living room.
"I was thinking about Ben and Cal. Where will they be staying?" She was
concerned for her new found friends. Miss Ansel chuckled.
"Honey! Ben and Cal live in a Mansion! Their family is rich.
They like to wonder around like pauper’s for the attention!" She chuckled more.
"WHAT!! But yet you feed them
like they’re homeless." She was confused.
"Honey! It’s a game they play and I don’t mind playing
with them if tt keeps them out of trouble." She paused, taking in a deep breath.
"Honey! What are you called? I hate
to keep calling you Honey!" She smiled at the young girl.
"I’m Lacey!" She replied.
"Lacey! Ummmm!!! So
far from home. I’m sure you are missed>" She stared into Lacey eyes.
"No! They could care less." She lowered
her head with this remark.
‘Nooo!! That’s not what I get. You are greatly missed. They’re is something
else you are in need to know. There are those who would try convince you to do something against your better judgment. Be
careful. Choose your path wisely. This action will cause a lot of pain to others." Lacey stared at the old woman without blinking.
Miss
Ansel led Lacey to her room. She nearly fainted. It reminded her of her old room at home.
"What’s wrong child?
You don’t like it??" Miss Ansel walked in to see if there were something that may have upset her.
"No! It’s
just perfect. Yes! Just perfect." Lacey went over to the four post Canopy. Colored in lilac and white with little flowers
in printed in the background. She ran her hand over the soft thick comforter.
"I’m going to leave you to get
some rest. If you need me call. And I’ll come running>" She laughed at this and walked out closing the door behind
her.
Lacey jumped in the bed and pulling the comforter back laid back to think about how she had come to this place.
Without her knowledge. Sleep crept over her. She won’t wake until the morning sun rises high in the air.
Part Four
Lacey woke to the sunlight playing on her face and the sweet smell of breakfast.
She jumped out of bed ran and took her shower, dressing quickly as she ran downstairs to Miss Ansel’s good cooking.
"Hi
child! Hungry?" She asked as she watch Lacey take a seat at the table.
"Yes Ma’am!" She answered, as she turned
to hear the doorbell ring. And watched as Miss Ansel went to see who it was. She could barely hear the muffled voices, as
she spoke to someone. The voices were getting louder as they came towards the kitchen.
And bursting throw the door
was Ben and Cal taking their seats at the table. "Hey Lacey!" The boys sounded together.
"Hey Ben! Hey Cal!" She
acknowledged each.
"So! What do you young folks have in mind for today?" She asked as she began preparing the plates.
"Well, we were thinking about showing Lacey around today if she wouldn’t mind going out with us!" Ben put this
sly grin on his face.
"Why of course she wouldn’t mind you boys showing her the happenings as you put it around
here. Now would you Lacey?" She asked sat one plate down and turned to get another one.
"No Ma’am! I don’t
mind going around with them today!" She said as she shook her fist at Ben. .
He smiled. The beaten would be worth
it if he could get her to go with them. They were the same age and he was already developing a crush on her. He liked her
tomboyish ways. And the way she manhandled him didn’t hurt much either.
"See, boys! I told you she wouldn’t
mind going with you. After all you are the only two are the only friends she has in this town anyway." She said this getting
her own plate, sat down with the trio and felt contented with the three children in her presence.
After breakfast Lacey
tried to hang around and help clean up the dishes bur Miss Ansel sent her on her way with the boys.
"I really should
knock your stupid head off that dumb body of yours. I told you I didn’t feel right going into someone’s house
and messing around in it." She was standing firm on this and found herself a seat in the park as the two boys stared at her.
"You
really mean it? You’re not going with us?" Ben asked surprised. Strong willed came to mind.
"Oh Please come with
us Lacey! You’ll have so much fun. You don’t have to come into the house you can stand watch for us!" Cal pleaded.
She smiled at him. He was like the little brother she never had. But even he couldn’t make her go back on her
principles. Seeing she wasn’t going to budge, they turned and went their way not before Ben turned to her......
"If
you don’t go with us this time. Don’t worry about ever going with us!" He stared at her and seeing she was not
going to yield, wish he hadn’t made that last remark.
She watched as they made their way on down the street.
She thought about following them but knew what they were planning to do was wrong. She didn’t want any parts of that.
She sat under the tree for a few moments before she saw a group of boys a little older than Ben and her, looking like
hardcore thugs going in the same direction as Ben and Cal.
Her gut told her at the speed they were going they were
following the boys. She left her seat in a hurry just in case they needed her help. She had made it unnoticed to the corner,
as she overheard them talking about some horrible things they were going to do them, because they were these two little rich
kids making a mockery their lifestyle.
She ran ahead to catch up with Ben and Cal. She needed to help them. She owe
them big time, if it wasn’t for them she would be sleeping in some dingy motel room wondering where her next meal was
coming from. So she ran to warn them of the gang that was coming their way.
Part Five
Lacey ran as fast as her feet could take her. She wasn’t sure of the direction the boys went, until she could
hear the older boys heading in her direction. Then she realized she was in the right direction and began to run, as she came
upon a wooded area.
She stopped not knowing what was in this place. She felt chills run up and down her spine at the
evilness flowing out of this area. She knew then, it wasn’t the older boys Ben and Cal needed to be saved from. But
what had dominion over this area.
She plunged into the woods trying to find her friends, she was nearly suffocating
from the horrid sensation, she had never felt anything like this in her life, she was afraid, not knowing exactly what this
all meant. She ran until she could see just ahead of her, the two brothers walking and talking as if everything was alright.
Couldn’t they feel the evil that surrounded this place. It was so thick you could cut it with an knife. She
was almost upon them. She didn’t want to call out to them for fear the older boys may hear her. So she ran, she had
just caught up to them, when!!!
"HEY!!! There they are and they have some chick with them!" Hollered one of the boys,
as they started after the trio.
"Okay boys! You can stand here and see what will happen next, but me, I’m out
out of here!" She then took off deeper into the woods.
Ben seeing who was leading the pack, looked at his brother and
they too turned and followed Lacey into the woods. The older boys in hot pursuit.
Lacey, Ben and Cal ran hard to lose
the other boys. But they were gaining on them. How long and far they ran, they weren’t sure. They just continued with
the other boys following them. None had ventured so far into the woods. It was forbidden.
Lacey could feel the evilness
stronger than before as they moved inwards. None of the youth realize, in the heat of pursuit and flight, they had lost their
way and come to the place talked about in so many conversation.
The trio made it to a clearing in the woods, coming
to a abrupt halt and stood in wonderment. The older boys caught up with them seeing the three just standing like statues,
came upon them to do their deeds.
As the older boys came into the clearing, they too stopped in their tracks, gazing
on the sight before them. All stood, side by side. The pursued and the pursuers in amazement and total disbelief.
Part Six
The Youth stood in amazement at the scene before them. There in the midst
of the clearing stood an old two story house out of an Gothic setting. It was very run down, as if no one had lived in it
for years.
Some of the windows were boarded up, the paint was peeling off. The porch was wooden and some of the plaints
were missing. Weeds grew in the garden, as dirt replaced grass.
The young people continued to stare, not sure if to
proceed and investigate or turn and flee for their lives. Lacey broke the ice.
"I think we should go back, now! This
doesn’t feel write. Not at all." She was rubbing her arms as goose bumps popped up.
"Yeah, Ben! I don’t
like this. I want to go home." Cal implored his brother.
"Well! I don’t know about the rest of you chickens!
But I’m going to see what’s in there! Coming Benjy, boy?? Or are you going with the chick and your scary brother?"
The leader of the gang had turned to stare Ben in the face, making the remark as an challenge to his manhood.
"Don’t
listen to him Ben. He wants to take you in there and do something bad to you!" Lacey grabbed Ben’s arm, turning him
to her as she stared deep into his dark green eyes.
"Look chick! You need to mind your business!" The boy said stepping
between her and Ben, giving her a shove.
She fell backwards into Cal who was able to keep her from falling. She recovered
to go after the boy, but Ben had beat her to the punch. And what a punch he delivered, sending the boy flying to the ground
face first, from the blow to the back of his head.
"Never put you hands on her again!" He hollered at the boy as he
made ready for a battle.
The other boy was what you called a bully. All mouth and no back up. He sized Ben up. Though
he was younger then these boys, he stood taller than any of them. His auburn hair was growing lengthy, against his mother’s
wishes. So the other boy was not ready to take on this angry boy at this time. He would get him when he wasn’t looking.
Possibly in the old house if he could coerce him to go in with them.
"Okay man!! I get your drift. Won’t touch
the lady again" He said finally assisted to his feet by his groonies.
"So! Are you coming or not?" He asked Ben as
he beckoned to his friends to follow him.
Not wanting to be left out on the proving ‘I’m a man thing,’
he turned to look at Lacey. Her eyes pleaded with him not to go and to stay with them, let’s go home now Ben! But she
knew, what he was going through was a man thing. He turned to follow the other boys.
"I’m coming with you Ben!"
Cal said as he started after his brother, loyal to the end.
"NO Cal! You stay here and take care of Lacey. I want her
safe. If anything should go wrong in there." He said without looking back at his brother. Went on towards the house as the
other boys stood waiting for him.
Lacey took Cal’s arm into her hand clenching it gently, as she watched Ben
go into the house with the other’s. She remembered how handsome he looked defending her. She hadn’t noticed before
how green his eyes were and how reddish his hair. Nor did she realize how tall and husky he was, until now. As he walked into
the unknown, she felt a chill pass through her body.
Lacey and Cal went to sit under a Big Oak tree, standing along,
as if it had been there forever. It braches were full and long reaching to the ground. They cuddled together, waiting for
the other’s return.
She turned and smiled at Cal reassuring, as she gazed into his hazel eyes and noticed his
darker red hair. He too would be a tall one and as husky as his brother. He nodded his head to let her know he was okay.
They
soon began to feel a heaviness come over their eyes, as they fell asleep under the great oak. It’s branches appeared
to cover them as embracing them. It appeared it was hiding them from some unseen danger. It was getting late. They slept for
how long is yet to be determined.
Suddenly, the boys burst out from the front door, yelling loudly, as if something
was after them. Lacey and Cal jumped from the noise and took off behind the other boys, still dazed from the mysterious sleep
they were in. Darkness had crept in.
They ran as fast as they were able. Their hearts were pounding and their chest
felt like they were going to explode. But they ran for their lives, coming into town relieved. The other boys ran to their
respective homes.
Cal and Lacey ran to Miss Ansel’s house and fell on the porch, trying to catch their breath.
Soon regaining their senses. Lacey realized something.
"CAL!!! Where’s BEN!!!"
Part Seven
Lacey and Cal jumped to their feet, realizing Ben wasn’t with them. Cal grew hysterical,
as he rushed down the street towards the woods, in search of his brother. Hoping he had stopped to catch his breath.
Lacey
followed close behind as they called out frantically. He was nowhere to be found. They backed tracked over and over. Not wanting
to go back into the woods. They new it was too dark to see their way, anyway.
Finally exhausted and unable to look
any farther, all hope vanishing as his brother, Cal sat down on the curb, head in his hands, began to weep. The guilt began
to swell up in him, as he thought he should have not listen to Ben.
He should have went in after him. He knew those
boys would do something to him. Then anger replaced the sorrow as he thought how he would make them all pay for his brother’s
disappearance.
Lacey sat next to him putting her arm around his shoulder, trying to comfort him as the tears began
to form in her eyes, she thought of the one she had just met. But in that time had proven to be more of an friend to her,
than the people she had left behind.
Thoughts of the last time she saw him began to flow in her head. How handsome
he looked, taking on the older boy for her. She let out a sigh. Then she turned to Cal.
"We can’t just sit here
Cal! Ben is lost and it’s too dark for us to go back into the woods. We need some help!! Let’s go to Miss Ansel’s."
She rose to her feet, looking down at an red eyed Cal. He stood knowing she was right and started towards Miss Ansel’s,
with Lacey at his side.
Miss Ansel had heard the children come upon the porch as she sat in her living room knitting.
She waited for them to come in and when they didn’t, she came to the door, opening it to see how they were doing.
She
caught a glimpse of them running down the street as if someone had lit a fire under them. And knew something was wrong, when
she only saw two of them and the other two, calling for BEN!!
She stood on the porch, as she sensed something terrible
has happened. She waited for the children.
Lacey and Cal walked towards Miss Ansel’s, tired and bewildered. They
looked up to see her standing on the porch like an beacon to all wayward souls.
They fell into her opened arms, broken.
They unleashed the tears they had tried so hard to conceal from each other, as reality hit them lock a blow to the stomach.
BEN was lost!!!
Miss Ansel lead the children into the house, sat them on the sofa, as she sat between them, wrapped
her arms around each and attempted to calm them before she would began the question and answer period. She was very concerned
with the whereabouts of her Ben.
Part Eight
Soon
the two had exhausted themselves. They sat sniffling as Miss Ansel went into the kitchen to get some warm milk. Upon returning
and handing the glasses of milk to the children, she went to take a seat in her rocker, before inquiring on the whereabouts
of Ben!
"Okay you two! Want to tell me what happened and why isn’t Ben here?" She stared from over her gold rimmed
glasses at Lacey and Cal. The tow looked at each other then towards Miss Ansel.
"It’s not good Miss Ansel! It
may be very bad!" Lacey said as she bowed her head.
"What is it, child!" She was a little more concern at their reactions.
"Ben
is lost Miss Ansel! And it’s all my fault!" Cal blurted out.
"No it isn’t Cal! You stop blaming yourself!"
Lacey turned to him.
"Yeah it is! I should have went in with him no matter what. We were suppose to be there for one
another. That was our pact." Cal wiped the tears streaming down his face.
"Wait you two! What are you talking about?
Go in where?" Miss Ansel was leaning forward as she tried to keep up with the children.
"In that old worn down house
deep in the woods. Ben and some other boys had went in and Lacey and I fell asleep." Cal started.
"And then we woke
up when we heard the other boys come running and screaming out the house." Lacey added.
"We thought Ben was with them
since we were running behind them. We didn’t know he wasn’t until we were on your porch." Cal said sadly.
"Yeah!
That’s when we went looking for him. He’s gone!" Lacey said as her voice trailed off.
"House! What house
in the woods?" There is none that I know of!" She said with a lot of confusion.
"No Ma’am! It’s an house
out there! And we think Ben was left in there by the others." Lacey answered her.
"Tell her the truth. They may have
hurt him and left him for dead!" Cal stood up and addressed Lacey.
"Cal we don’t know that! Remember how they
ran like the Devil was after them!" Lacey stood facing him. Miss Ansel let out a gasp, from the last part of the sentence,
causing the children to snap their heads towards her in alert.
"What is it Miss Ansel?" Lacey walked over her as she
could se horror on her face.
"Cal! You must go home now! Your parents need to know what has happened to your brother.
A search party maybe in order." She had left her chair and was escorting Cal to the door.
"Yes Miss Ansel." He said
as he made the longest walk of his life. She watched as he turned the corner, closed the door slowly and went back into the
livingroom with Lacey.
"You have had a long day. You should go take a nice hot bath and get some sleep. I think tomorrow
will prove a very busy one for all concerned." She said as she led her to the stairs. Lacey smiled, gave her a long hard hug
and ran up the stairs. Miss Ansel was started momentarily, then sighed quietly as he made her way to a room she kept locked
at all times.
Looking around making sure everything was clear. She entered the room locking it behind her. She made
it to a single table that stood in the midst of the room. On it was a large heavy thick book. And above it stood, illuminating
the room, a golden URN!!
Part

It was two days

Part Two
Lacey
followed the two boys to an old house. It stood two stories high, white stucco with yellow trimming. And a old white picket

pausing before knocking at the door.

"Okay boys! You can stand here and see what will happen next, but me, I’m out
of here!" She then took off deeper into the woods.
Ben seeing who was leading the pack, looked at his brother and they
too turned and followed Lacey into the woods. The older boys in hot pursuit.
Lacey, Ben and Cal ran hard to lose the
other boys. But they were gaining on them. How long and far they ran, they weren’t sure. They just continued with the
other boys following them.
Part Nine
Miss
Ansel took the thick book and blew the dust off the front of it, running her hands on the inscription. She study it for a
while the pulled it close to her bosom, securing it there.
She looked at the Urn, shining it’s yellow bright
light. And reached out and stroked it with the back of her hand. Afterwards she went over to a corner of the room, sat in
the chair there, cradling the book in her lap, unlatched the lock, opened it and began to read.
~The towns people
made their way up the hill to the old two story solitude house. They had sticks, knives, rocks, garden hoes, rakes, etc......
anything they could find to be a weapon. The torches burned bright.
The oldest of the Brothers watched from the window
of the top bedroom floor. His youngest brother entered, fearing what their fate would be.
"What will they do to us,
Marcus?" He asked as he looked over his brothers shoulder at the approach glowing snake.
"I’m not sure Glenn!
We may have seen our last night here in this realm." He answered his brother grimly.
"Well! What about the Urn? What
will we do with it? The powers it contain are unlimited. It can‘t just fall into the hands of anyone." Glenn asked.
"It
has already been taken care of. Follow me!" He turned away from the window and moved as if gliding out the bedroom door and
made it down the stairs. His brother in like form.
"Lacey! Come here girl." He called as an young woman made her way
from the other room upon his command.
"Yes Master, what would you have of me?" She asked as she lowered her head upon
entering the room.
"Here! I want you to take this with you and flee into the woods. You will be safe." He handed her
a black sack medium size.
"Guard this thing with your life, girl! For they are our salvation. Can I trust you to do
this?" He turned to her lifting her chin to look him in his eyes.
She nodded in confirmation. She had come to him when
he moved into the house, looking for work. She was an drifter and none of the towns people had treated her very kindly.
She
had fell in love with him. His green eyes had captured her heart. When they first made love, it was intense and yet tender.
He had always been good to her. She would do anything he asked.
She watched as he pulled back a strand of his auburn
hair from his face. Looking at her as if for the last time, bent and kissed her hungrily on the mouth sliding his tongue into
her mouth tasting her for the last time.
"Now go girl! And flee this land forever. Nothing good will come of you here."
He said as he turned from her, giving his last order. She looked to the back of her master, then to Glenn, smiled as tears
flowed down her face and ran out the door as she was told.
She ran into the woods as she saw the mob come up to the
house. The brothers never stood a chance. The house was surrounded by the mob who set it afire. It went up into flames as
she cried hysterically for the two men who had shown her so much love in the past year.
She hid in the woods near the
house for hours as she watched the crowd laughing and dancing at the horrible deed they had done. Soon the house stood no
more. Just ashes and pieces of burnt wood was left as reminder of the house that once stood there on the hill.
She
swore on this day every FRIDAY the 13th. The ancestors of these people would be visited upon by her lover and his brother.
She laughed a eerie laugh, sending it through the woods and cascading down the hill into the town.
The towns people
all hearing this stopped what they were doing. And those who were going down the hill from their night of reverie, felt the
chills coursing through their bodies, fearing what was to be the repercussion of their evil deed.
Lacey went to the
burnt remnants of what was once her home. She gave them her last respects, turned and left.
"What do we do now brother?"
Glenn asked.
"Sleep now brother. Soon all three of us will be together, once again!" He said as they drifted off into
sleep waiting for the appointed time.
Part Ten
Miss Ansel sighed at the entry. The towns people had been angered about possible misdeeds being done by the two brothers.
People had come up missing presumably dead. No proof had been directed towards the brothers.
It wasn’t until
a year later that the towns people discovered who had been the real murderer. And they made a pact to keep the deed done on
the night of Oct 13TH, a Friday.
She turned the page to another entry in the book.
~Lacey walked for miles,
not knowing where to go. She had spent a good part of an year drifting. She had begged, stole and worked for her food and
lodgings. Sometimes she found herself in a some predicaments, to the point of being used by some on the men in the lodgings.
She would always flee for her life. And once again she found herself out on the roads and in the forests over the mountains
and hills, wandering.
It had been close to a year since her Master and his brother were burned to death by the towns
people. And she was force to leave them and wonder the countyrside as she had done before she met them. They had been the
only family she had known.
She had wondered into town finding the people very cruel she left and came upon the house
on the hill. They were recluse and she understood why. The towns people were not far off about them being strange. But they
were wrong about them being murders. They would never kill unless provoked.
That night of the incident they chose not
to fight. They new they would be able to return eventually. And they needed her safe. Little did she know at that time she
had been summoned. She had meant to be with them as she will soon find out.
It was nearing the day of their death.
She had wondered for sometime now without any food. She was becoming weak from hunger and exhaustion, her stomach was aching.
The day she fled her home, leaving the two she had considered family behind to be burned to death by an angry mob. She didn’t
have time to gather anything to eat. She had fled so abruptly.
Her strength spent, weaken she fell to the earth. Darkness
soon claimed her. She doesn’t know how long she was out, she knows she woke in a nice warm bed. She looked to see an
old lady sitting next to her.
"Oh! You are a wake! I wasn’t sure we were going to be able to save you." The old
lady rubbed a wet towel across her face.
"You were out for three days. Don’t know how long you were in the forest
before my brother found you!" She said as she walked over to a table picking up a bowl, as the steam flowed upwards.
She
offered Lacey a spoonful of the broth. She accepted with eagerness. She was truly starving. She finished in no time, as she
had taken the bowl and began feeding herself. She laid in the bed, when suddenly she remembered the black sack she had carried
and guarded so well.
"Ma’am! Where is my sack I had with me?" She asked searching the room.
"Oh! The one
with the pretty Urn in it! Oh don’t you worry we have it in a safe place for you! Now you rest." She said as she took
the bowl and left the room closing the door behind her.
She didn’t like the idea of strangers handling the possession
of her Master. He had given that to her to keep safe for a good reason. She would demand the urn back when she came back.
She turned her head towards the door when she thought she heard the door click from being lock.
She attempted to get
out of the bed, but was stopped as the round began to swirl her. She fell back on the bed, pausing for a moment before easing
herself up into the bed.
This ritual went on for sometime. She seemed never to be getting better. She always felt tired
and groggy as if she was being drugged.
Finally, she decided not to eat anything else. She would tell the old lady
to leave her food there and she would pour it out. But she continued to pretend to be as weak as they felt she should. She
was determined to regain her possession and leave this place.
One night she heard the old lady and her brother who
she had never seen discussing some thing about selling the Urn. She gasped in shock. No one would sell that Urn. It was entrusted
to her by someone she loved dearly, his life depended on it.
She thought of a way to get out of this place. It was
evident they had planned to steal the Urn all along. So that means her life would soon if not be in danger.
She waited
for the Old woman to come in as usual. She asked again about the Urn. She became very hysterical in demanding to see, as if
it was an life and death situation. The woman not being one to deal with whining went and brought the Urn to her.
Her
eyes lit up when she held it in her hands. Soon it began to glow it’s bright golden light as it vibrated in her hands.
She felt her lovers soul reach out and touch her giving her strength. She knew what she had to do. She knew this woman and
her brother weren’t right.
She never realized it, but the day was Friday the 13th. And the villagers were having
a festival, celebrating. The woman reached for the Urn, she was in a hurry and didn‘t have anymore time to deal with
Lacey and her whims.
She wanted to be apart of the festivities. She had been all day preparing food. Her brother was
already in town. As she touched it, it let out a blast of power sending her backwards. She hit her head. Lacey ran to her
thinking she was dead, quickly dressed and putting the Urn into the black sack. Fled the house.
She knew she had to
leave her country. She made it deep into the forest. She rested under an old oak tree that seemed to be there forever. A heavy
sleep came over her as the branches seemed to shield her from some unseen danger.
The next morning she started on her
way. She came out of the forest. Finding herself on top of the hill looked down to an port. There were may ships and boats
of all sizes. People scurried around. Some carried large burdens on their shoulders. Ladies dressed grand sauntered around
getting looks and whistles from the men. Some men were bolstering out orders while others ran to carry them out.
A
sudden urge came over her. She found her body moving without control towards the port. She walked near sat on a crate and
listen for information that would help her. Soon two men talked about a voyage leaving for some place called America.
Her
body lifted it self up of the crate an headed for the ship that would make the trip. She was oblivious to her movements as
if she were in a trance. She walked on to the ship unnoticed. She founded a secluded place, made herself comfortable and waited
for the ship to leave for the unknown.~
Part Eleven
Miss Ansel sat after reading the last entry. She went into a daze, at the thought of the plight of Lacey. Though she
had read this book many times over the years. It still did something to her each time she read this story. She turned to the
next entry.
~Lacey laid in the secluded place for sometime. She was mentally and physically exhausted. So she rested
for a couple of days. She never felt the Ship as it pulled out of port heading for the New Land! She was suddenly jolted
out of her sleep when a young man came upon her. He stared at the beautiful young woman lying behind some large boxes concealed
to all. He wouldn’t have found her if he wasn’t searching for a place to hide himself. He too was a stowaway.
"Hey
Miss!" He whispered to her, gently touching her arm. She woke with a start, crawling back up against the wall, fearing what
this man was going to do to her in this lonely secluded place.
"Oh please! Don’t be afraid of me! I won’t
hurt you!" He looked at her with the gentlest blue eyes and long blond hair. He was quite striking, tall and slender. Lacey
relaxed a little.
"I’m just trying to do what you’re doing. Hide out! I’m a stowaway! If they catch
me they may throw me over board!" He said as he looked from side to side, making sure no one was around.
"They throw
you over board?" Lacey asked panicking.
"No! But you don’t want to be caught on this ship without their knowledge.
It’s like stealing you know what I mean?" He said as he came to sit next to her.
"Yeah! I know what you mean!
I’ve been on my own for a while and have had to do things I’m not quite proud of!" She seemed to have drifted
off while telling him this.
"Yeah! I’ve been on my own too. And have had to do some pretty bad things to survive,
too." He said as he looked at her. She looked over to him, smiling.
"My name is Lacey!" She said offering him her hand.
He seemed like he was literally in the same boat as her.
"My name is John. John Ansel!!" He replied.
Lacey and
John talked more of their lives and how they came to this point in their lives. Heading for a new country that had been settled
for sometime now.
They made an pact to stay with each other while on this journey. They new between the two, they
would have a better chance of survival.
John would make the runs for the food. While Lacey would watch his back. They
made a game out of it. Soon they found they could wonder out in the open and no one ever noticed them. Their best time was
at night under the moon.
John had began to develop feelings for Lacey. She fulfilled his deepest desires. But he knew
she was still mourning the lost of the love of her life. He knew one thing, he couldn’t compete with an phantom.
Little
did John know, Lacey was beginning to feel for him. He was different from her Master. He was kind and gentle. He never asked
anything of her but friendship. Unlike her Master. He hadn’t given her much of a choice in his seduction of her. He
had took her in, she had become the servant. She did whatever he asked of her, without question.
She did love him,
but she also feared she would have no place to stay, if she didn’t give in to his every command. No matter how much
she may or may not have wanted to do these things. But out of gratitude and fear, she continued on.
After all he was
one gorgeous man. And who wouldn’t want to be in his arms feeling his touch, caress and kiss. Yes, she did let him love
her that first night and every other night he so desired, out of fear and gratitude, but also out of love. And once you have
felt love, it’s very easy to want that back in your life again.
But now John was here. And he never asked for
anything from her but friendship. She had grown very fond of him now. He was something different. And her desires for him
had grown stronger.
The moonlight bathe the ship as it rolled over the ocean waters, rocking up and down cutting through
the swells. Lacey couldn’t sleep that night. She left John slumbering, went to stand on deck to commune with the elements.
She was enjoying the sea breeze and the beautiful moon, when she felt someone come up behind her, grabbing her arm roughly.
"Heelllloooo
sweet thing! You are just what I need on a night like this." The drunken seaman said, gripping her arm.
Lacey tried
to snatch her arms from his strong hold. He pulled her to him and began kissing her hard trying to force his tongue into her
mouth. He she bite down on it as it slid between her lips. He pulled his face away and angrily slapped her, she went flying
backwards into the wall and under the stairs.
The Urn began to glow once again.
"John! You need to wake up!"
The disembodied voice came to him in his dream.
"JOHN!!!! YOU NEED TO WAKE UP! LACEY NEEDS YOU, NOW!!" John snapped
out of his sleep. Seeing Lacey wasn’t there, he ran in search of her.
"Now I will show you how to calm a fiery
B*%$ch!" He said as he approached her. She pulled her hand over her face and screamed with all she had. He covered her.
Part Twelve
John was searching for Lacey, when he heard her chilling scream. He turned
and ran desperately to save the woman who held his heart. His heart racing, fear gripping his every being, he moved towards
her.
Lacey fought hard, beating with clenched fist, the drunken crewman, who had fell upon her pulling her dress above
her hips planting himself between her legs and struggling to undo his trousers. She slapped him hard across his face which
only anger him. He had just about had them opened to do what he had promised her when he felt himself being propelled across
the deck.
John stood with rage in his eyes, fist balled up. He never turned to Lacey, as she sat huddled in the corner,
straightening her clothes. He advanced towards the crewman and swung down on him with one of his fist striking the man across
the temple he fell to the ground with an thud.
The crewman struggled to reach his feet, dazed from the alcohol and
the blow delivered by John found it difficult to do. As he finally had himself halfway up, John delivered another blow, sending
the man backwards into the railing.
He slumped to the ground, legs outstretched before him, looked up at John from
glazed over eyes. Feeling himself regaining his composure, looked John over and then to Lacey sitting in the corner.
A
evil smile came over his face as he sat there staring at the two buying himself some time to come into focus so he could first
kill this young man who dared to humiliate him from the little slut in the corner. And then finish what he had started with
her. Then he spoke.
"You two are stowaways. Good! Then you shouldn’t be here anyway. And no one’s going
to miss you. First I’m going to teach you a lesson, lad. Then I’m going to show her what a real man is!" He snapped,
standing to his feet, with the railing as support.
The two men stood face to face staring and sizing each other up.
Finally they both lounged towards one another. John’s youth and sobriety won out. The man flew backwards as he teeter
for a moment trying not to fall into the murky waters. As if an giant hand touched him, he sled off the rail into the waters
with a blood curdling scream.
John ran to the rail to see if her could see they man. There were not sign of him. The
deep had claimed him immediately. It was as if he was swallowed up the moment he hit the water. The Urn glowed.
Suddenly,
footsteps came running from all directions of the ship. John ran quickly to Lacey’s side holding her protectively in
his arms. She turned her face into his chest frighten of what was to happen to them.
The men ran to the railings, running
up and down searching for him frantically. With no luck. Seeing he was lost. They turned their attention towards John.
The
all started towards the two. Each voicing their opinions on what to do with them. Stowaway was out of the picture. Murder
was in the issue now. And they wanted John to pay.
A couple of the men rushed them hitting Overpowering John as he
fought to protect Lacey. One man grabbed her and took her to the side, as she watched them beat John down until he fought
them no more.
Finally subdued, the began to drag him with intents on hanging him. Stepping in front of the mob, was
a mammoth of a man. The all stood in their tracks. Frozen on the spot.
Part Thirteen
The huge man stood staring at the scene before him. His name was Captain Krueger. He was
known throughout the naval as being stern and hard nosed. He was the beginning and end. The sun rose and fell at his command.
And right now, he could see his men were way out of line. They knew him well enough, he wasn’t pleased with their actions.
"WHAT
are you men doing?" He said not flinching a muscle. The one who was instigator of everything, spoke up.
"He killed
James!" He shouted out.
"He killed James. And what do you have plan for him?" He remained solemn.
"We’re
going to hang him!" He shouted out, turning to the mob for support. They each began yelling their approval.
"SILENCE!!!!!"
He shouted above their noise. Everyone shut up in unison.
"Who’s idea was it to form a lynch mob on my ship?"
He began walking and looking into the eyes of each one.
Each stepped back eyes cast to the ground. The one with the
loud mouth turned looking at each man as if in disgust. He stood his ground face to face with the Captain.
"Be sure!
You plan to finish this through. Because I am." The Captain informed the crewman. Seeing he had no backing. He too soon coward
before the captain.
"Come here lad!" He pointed to a bruised John.
John staggered towards him holding his side.
He stood defiantly at the Captain.
"What’s your name Boy?!!" He asked.
"John! John Ansel!" He said proudly.
The Captain liked his spunk. Even in the face of danger. This young man stood his ground. He admire that in a man. Unlike
the men on his ship. Only one other man could surpass his admiration.
"Sir! I’ve search thoroughly. He is nowhere
to be found." His first mate explained.
"Well! He had been warned too many times about his constant rampages. He was
just an loose cannon anyway. And I will tell you one more thing before ALL of you are dismissed. If anyone so much as attempt
to stir anything else up on my ship. I will throw them over board myself. NOW GET SOME SLEEP!!! We have an long day ahead."
He gave the leader of the mob one long glance then turned his attention to John.
"Young man. You and the Lady over
there are in big trouble. Do you know what I can do to you for sneaking on my ship?" He asked, looking from Lacey then back
to John.
‘Yes Sir! I know what you can do to us. But she didn’t know when I asked her to come with me.
So if you’ll going to do something to anyone do it to me." John said protectively.
"NOOOOO!! Don’t listen
to him. If he is going to be punish then so will I. We didn’t meet until we were on this ship." She ran to John’s
side.
"Lacey! Please! You don’t know what you’re talking about. She’s demented from the attack of
your crewman." John pulled her to his side. The captain turned to his first mate with an concealed smile. He just dropped
his head in acknowledgement.
"My crewman attempted to abuse the young woman?" His eyes now raging.
"Yes sir!
That’s how we came to this place. We fought. He fell into the rail and over, losing his balance. The water seem to suck
him in. I couldn’t find him after he hit the water." John explained to the Captain.
"Well! If what you say is
true. He would’ve been in deep trouble anyway. I can’t have any of my men attacking women. That’s cowardly."
He paused, going over to the railing, gazed out over the water, taking in a deep breath of air as if it was his first in a
long time.
"Lad! Where have you two been stowing?" He asked as he continued to look to the sea.
"Under the staircase
behind some large crates left there." He said quietly as he pulled Lacey closer to him. She snuggled closer to him with her
arms wrapped around him tightly, staring at the Captain.
"That won’t do! We need to find some suitable lounging
for you. My first mate will take you to a room. Go get your belongings and meet him back here." He said still positioned on
the railing.
John looked at the first mate who nodded his head towards them. They looked at each other in disbelief
that things had turned out the way they had. The Urn had glowed more intense than it ever had. And finally, like a nova. It
flared and went out.
John and Lacey ran to the place they called home and began gathering their things. They were still
in a daze at the events. Suddenly, as if the shock had wore off. Lacey broke down and cried. John was at her side instantly.
He pulled her into his lap cradling and caressing her, as he spoke soothing words. She looked into his eyes, finally comforted
and safe, in his strong arms.
"So! It appears this is going to take some getting use to. Don’t you think first
mate??" The Captain asked as he straighten up and turned towards the man standing next to him.
"What?" Was all he asked.
"These
new bodies that we possess, brother." Marcus asked.
"Well! After an year, the right moment and bodies. I think I can
live with myself. After all the men are so much like us anyway. Don’t you agree brother?" Glenn smiled at his brother
fiendishly.
Marcus turned back towards the sea. They had regain their place on earth. Now to regain his Lacey!!
Part Fourteen
John and Lacey each were taken to their rooms. John felt lost without Lacey
near him. They had spent most of the voyage together, never had been separated. He laid in the bed wondering how she was doing
without him. He knew he was miserable without her. He was still nursing his bruises. Suddenly a knock at his door. John went
to answer it.
"Lacey! Wh-what are you doing here?" John was surprise and happy at the same time.
"You didn’t
really think I was going to stay in that room alone did you?" She looked at him as she closed the door.
"I guess not!
Anyway am I glad to see you! I was getting lonely without you!" He said this as he came near to her. She smile at him like
she had never smiled before.
Her desire for him was getting stronger. She knew she would not be able to hold out much
longer. He had saved her life and took a beating.
"Oh John! The beating you suffered." She took him by the hand and
led him to the bed.
"Oh they’re nothing. I have had worst!" He said sitting on the bed.
"Remove the shirt!
I need to see how bad they hurt you!" She began helping him remove his shirt as he winched at every movement. She gasped as
she saw the black and blue markings.
"Oh those animals!" She snapped angrily. She told him to lay down as she gently
massaged each bruise with the wt towel.
She looked up to see John smiling at her as he allow her to nurse him. She
sat on the bed next to him as she reached the towel in the basin of water and back to rubbing the bruises. She smiled at him
and leaned over him to rub one near his rib cage. She felt an excitement as she turned to look in his eyes with a greater
desire.
John pulled her head close to his as their lips brush each other. She clamped her mouth on his, as she moved
on top of him kissing him hungrily. John wrapped his arms around her as she ravished his mouth slipping her tongue between
his lips. Her master had made the woman of her. And now John would reap the results.
The Captain decided to make a
courtesy call on Lacey. He gently knocked on the door. No answer. Fearing the worst took it upon himself to go into her room
to check on her. He had missed feeling her warm body under him and over him. The way she taste and her smell. He had been
without her so long. His craving for her was growing stronger each day he had been in this body. Now she was needed to appease
his hunger.
Suddenly a knife pierced his heart as he realized where she had went. He made long strides to John’s
room. He would have to stop it anyway he could. She was his. And know man would ever be happy with her as long as he existed.
And that would before ever.
John and Lacey had slowly removed each other clothing, as they continued to kiss each other
and exploring each others body. What John had not told Lacey was, he was yet an virgin. So he allow her to do to him whatever.
And he loved the way she kissed him and touched him so gentle.
Lacey stopped and asked him to love her now. He was
speechless as he turned his head in shame.
"What’s wrong John. It’s okay! Make love to me I want you to!"
She sad as she stroked his cheek.
"It’s not you! It’s me! I’m a virgin!" He waited for her anger.
But instead she laughed.
"It’s okay! I was one once too! I will show you how to make me happy!" She said gently
turning his face towards her.
That night John became a man with the help of Lacey. She enjoyed teaching him about love.
The first round she made passionate love to him. The second time around he loved her as instructed. The third time around
she was left speechless. John learned quickly.
Marcus had made it to the room in time to hear them moaning and groaning.
His anger was kindled against John. How dare he touch her. He became satisfied when he heard John say he was a virgin. He
smiled knowing he would soon have her in his arms for lack of love.
He froze as he heard her tell him she would show
him how to make her happy. He listen closely, realizing all the time they were together. He had never asked her what it took
to make her happy. It was always about him.
He leaned back against the wall as he Heard them go at it for the seond
time and she seemed to enjoy him very much. But he almost broke down when he heard her scream his name like she never did
his. He had given her much more then he had ever. He gave himself to her. While all he ever did was take from her.
He
became more determined than ever to win her back. He knew now what it would take to get her from John and back in his bed.
She will belong to him again. He left the two exhausted in each other’s arms, to devise a plan.
Part Fifteen
Miss Ansel sighed as she thought back on her great grandparents life and what they had to
endured to overcome the obstacles thrown in their path by Marcus and his brother Glenn. Glenn was the more gentler of the
two. But he would do anything for his older brother. Marcus had aways been there for him. And he would be there for Marcus.
She turned the next page to read as the Urn mysteriously began to dim.
‘The ship made it to the new land. John
and Lacey had made their plans to get married. They took off to explore the town and decided where they were going to take
up housekeeping.
Captain Krueger and his First Mate leaned on the rail as they watched the two running down the plank.
Glenn laid an hand on his brother’s shoulder, as he saw his jaw grind.
"Patience my brother. We don’t want
to screw this up. These people are just as ignorant as the ones we left behind. They wouldn’t understand our kind anymore."
He said as he looked at his brother.
"Yes! You are right as always my brother. I will wait! This has to be done very
discreetly." He turned, looked at his brother, nodding his head and walked towards his cabin.
Glenn wonder if it was
worth the bother to try to reclaim Lacey! Their very existence depended on their lying low. And not to bring to much attention
to themselves. They had manage to take over the bodies of the Captain and his first mate, because they were so close and so
much like themselves.
Ruthless! They have to figure how to get the Urn back and Lacey along with it. John would be
the problem. What to do with him?
John and Lacey made it to town in total awe of the new surroundings. Nothing like
back home. They held each other hands as they made their way through, dirt streets. They were checking out everything, as
people rushed by them in a hurry to get somewhere. Merchants were in the streets selling anything from clothing to housing.
John got an idea.
"Sir! How can I buy a house." He asked. Lacey looked at him confused to how he was going to purchase
a house with no money.
"Well my son seeing as how you’re new in town. I can get you a real deal on one. So how
much are you willing to pay?" They Man asked.
"Well! I don’t have any money now but I do have something for collateral,
until I get a job and can pay!!" He informed the man. Lacey was even more to confused at what he had to put up.
"Let
me see what you have to offer?" The man tilting his head.
"Okay! Just give me a moment while I talk to my fiancee!"
John took Lacey’s hand and took her over to the side away form the man.
"Look Lacey! We need a place to live. And I was thinking, I know how fond of the Urn you are, but right now we need a home
more than that stupid Urn. We can use it as an down payment and when I find work, we can get it back." He pleaded with her.
Lacey thought of her Master and his brother. They had given this for her to keep safe. How could she leave it in the
hands of a stranger? She looke dinto her loves eyes and realize. Her Master was gone. And so was his brother. John was her
present and future. She reached in the bag and made John promise as soon as it was possible he would get the Urn back.
"Promise
me, John! This is only to secure us a home and afterwards we will get it back when you get a job and enough money." She looked
at him with such trust. His heart melted.
"You care a lot for that Urn don’t you?" He asked.
"Very!" She
said as she caressed it.
"Then we will not give it up! We will find a way." He said as he took her in his arms.
He
hadn’t been aware of the attachment she had for the Urn. Releasing her he turned to go back over to the merchant to
explain they change their minds, when Lacey caught him by the arm and handed him the Urn.
"You make sure you get my
Urn back, John Ansel! You here me!" She said this very sternly.
"Yes my love! I will be getting it back!" He said as
he turned to her and tilted her head back planting a kiss on her lips. She nodded as he went over and made the deal with the
man.
A chill surged through her body as the deal was made. She felt a dread come over her. She never noticed the piercing
eyes watching her from a distance.
