Chapter One

Lauren scrambled around her apartment preparing for her mother's visit. It had been almost two years since she last seen her. When her sister and she had grown up. Her mother decided to take a world tour. Her sister nor her had mind. Their mother had been very good to them, sacrificing her life for them. Making sure theirs was a good life.

Though they hadn't seen each other. She had kept in contact by postcards or phone calls. After two years, she will be able to feel her mother's touch. Something she had wanted for so long. Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the.

"Yes. Who is it?" She asked.

"Taker." The voice from the other side answered.

"Taker. Boy, am I glad to see you." She said as she opened the door, beckoning him to come in.

"Really. Why I'm flattered" He said playfully, in his low deep voice. "What can I do for you?" He asked. Knowing this is the day her mother to arrives.

"Stop playing. Taker." She said annoyed.

"You know very well what today is, and how nervous I am." Pacing back and forth wringing her hands.

"So it is true what they've been saying at the WWF. You are a bundle of nerves and driving everyone crazy." He said taking her in his arms, trying to calm her down.

Taker and Lauren had known each other for a year and a half, since she came to the WWF. When her mother left for her tour. Her sister married her boyfriend of two years. Lauren decided to follow her dream. To become a WWF wrestler. So she found one of their schools and enrolled. It was hard work. Sometimes she felt like giving up.

But, with determination, she made it. She had become one of the top female wrestlers in her class. Soon she was asked to wrestle in some house shows for a smaller organization. Oneday, a scout for Vince McMahon came to one of the shows, scouting for new talent. He was amazed with her style and abilities in the ring. He called Mr. McMahon, told him he found a winner. After viewing clips from some shows, Vince signed her to a contract. He has never regretted it.

When Taker saw Lauren, he was taking in by her. She had such grace for a young wrestler. Something that takes years to acquire, if ever. She was a natural. There was something else about her that drew him to her. Her innocence. He took her under his wings. As protector and friend. And a good friendship, it had proved to be.

"She'll be arriving in and hour." She released herself from his hold. "I hope everything is to her satisfactory." And began to pacing the floor again.

"Lauren." He spoke sternly.

"You're going to wear yourself out. What good will it be, for you to be sick in bed while your mother is visiting?" He had his hands on her shoulders looking into her eyes.

"You're right. I'm acting silly." She answered.

"You always know what to say to calm me. I think I'll take a short nap to relax myself, before going to pick her up." She paused.

"If you don't mind. Please stay?" She asked.

"Sure. It would be my pleasure." He answered. She then turned and went to her room. ' I hope you are truly worthy of your daughter's feelings.' He thought, watching as Lauren went to her room. 'Because mother or no mother. I will not allow her to be hurt by anyone, including you.' He sat down on the couch.

Thinking about the affect of the arrival of her mother, was having on this special person who had become a part his life. Lauren hadn't slept a wink since lying down. She was too nervous anticipating her mother's visit. Her mother had told her she would be visiting her for awhile. And then, to her sister's.

'Boy. Leslie is lucky.' She thought. 'Mom's seeing her last.' After their mom had left. Leslie wanted Lauren to fill her in on how to deal with, Mom.

Forty-five minutes had passed. And Lauren had not been able to sleep. She got up to go pick up her mother. Her apartment was only ten minutes from the airport. She lived in a plush apartment building in the upscaled part of town.

Taker along with some other wrestlers had rented apartments in this very popular building. This is where they could come when in town or off tour. A few celebrities lived there, also. She liked it. Lauren came out of her room to the funniest sight. Taker, sleeping on snoring up a storm engulfing her small couch. She wanted to wake him to tease.

But thought better, seeing she only had a few minutes to pick up her mother. So she left him resting. She had made it to the airport within ten minutes. Her mother's plane was late.

'Good.' She thought. 'This will give me some time to get myself together.'

"Lauren!" Her mother called running to hug and kiss her daughter. Catching Lauren off guard. "Oh, you are so beautiful. I have missed you so much."

"Mom! I thought your plane was going to be late?" She asked , trying to gain her composure.

"Well, I took an earlier flight. Planning to surprise you. Stupid me. I lost your phone number and address. I don't know where to find them." Her mother answered. Then looking her daughter over.

"It is so good to see you again. How have you been, my darling?" She asked holding Lauren.

"I've been fine, Mom. Come on. Let's get you home." She said, wrapping her arms around her mother's shoulders, as they went to get her luggage. On the way home, they stopped at a restaurant Lauren loved so much.

"You're going to love the food here, Mom." She said. Finally feeling at ease with her mother.

"I'm sure I will baby. All I care about is finally being here with you. I love you so much, more than life itself." She said staring at her daughter with such love in her eyes. "And never forget it. No matter what happens."

Lauren was a little curious at her remark. But shrugged it off when their food came. They had become engrossed with what each other had been doing these last couple of years.

"Wrestler. Wow! My baby following her dreams. That's good. Are you happy?" She asked.

"Yes, I am very happy. Oh! Guess who is my very best friend." With a grin from cheek to cheek.

"There was only one wrestler, who was your favorite. The Undertaker." Her mother guessed.

"Yes. We became close after I joined the WWF." She began to tell her mother how they became friends. Her mother listen intensely, watching her daughter as she explained her relationship with 'Taker' as she called him.

'Well Taker.' She thought. 'I hope you never take advantage of my baby. Are you will know my wrath.'

"Mom! Mom!" Lauren call to her mother, noticing she had went deep in thought.

"Oh baby. Don't pay me any attention. I was just remembering our time together, before I left. They were so simple. Just your sister, you and I. Too bad, things had to change. I wouldn't exchange those times for anything in this world." Lauren saw her mother, began to drift off somewhere as she spoke.

'What's wrong with her?' She thought.

Not wanting to press her mother at this time, they finished with lunch, and headed for her apartment. As they drove up, her mother commented on how beautiful the building was, and asked if any other wrestlers lived in there. She explained to her mother, some of them preferred to rent an apartment in the building . Rather than stay in motels, when they were in town. Her mother was only concerned about one wrestler in particular, Taker.

After dragging her luggage through the parking lot, into the building. Where the clerk gave them a hand onto the elevator. They finally made it to their destinstion. Her apartment. Lauren opened the door, letting her mother go in first. Lauren looked around with disappointment, when she saw Taker wasn't there. She had hoped he would have stayed to meet her mother.

"This is a beautiful apartment, baby." She said as she went from room to room. She stepped out on the balcony, and took in the view, as it overlooked the city.

"Wait until tonight, it is indescribable." Lauren said joining her mother out on the balcony.

"It's good to have you here Mom. I missed you so much." She began to cry, from years of not having her around. Her mother took her in her arms, and held her close to her. She then began to whisper soothing words to her daughter.

Lauren continued to sob until she was exhausted. Relaxed in her mother's arms, she rested. The last few days had taken its toll on her, anticipating her mother's visit. As she stretched out on the couch. Her mother laid her daughter's head on her lap. 'My babies. How could I have left you two, so long? You will never know why I had to leave. With that she also dozed off to sleep, exhausted for other reasons.

When Taker woke up. He noticed it had been an hour since Lauren had went to bed to take a nap. Fearing she would stress again. He went to her room. Finding she had already left. He decided to go back to his apartment, and give her time to be along with her mother. It had been a few hours, and he had become concerned. Taking the key he had to Lauren's apartment. He let himself in.

Lauren's mother suddenly woke up. And by instinct, feeling someone else besides them were in the apartment jumped up ready to defend her daughter. In front of her, stood the largest man she had ever encountered. She came just below his chest. He was dressed in black, with deep green eyes and auburn hair. There stood, Taker.

They both stared at each other with such intensity, it couldn't be explained, what went between them. Lauren, sensing her mother wasn't at her side. Woke up to see her mother and Taker, glaring at each other.

"Hey! Mom. Taker. What's going on?" She said as she watched them continue to glare at each other, and coming between them.

"Mom, this is Taker. Taker, this is my Mom. Sara."

"Oh. Taker. I must apologize. You startled me. When I woke up, I felt someone in the room with us. And of course, I wanted to protect my daughter." Sara spoke, still watching the huge man closely.

"I understand. And I'm sorry I scared you. I became worried when you hadn't come back after some time. So I came to check on you." He said looking at Sara, not as intense.

"Well. Since you two have been properly introduced. Let's say we go out to eat." Lauren putting her arms around the two people she loved. Well, half way around Taker, but whose taking notes.

"Then you two can get to know each other better."

"Fine." Taker said turning to Sara. "Would you care to join us. I would like to get to know the woman who brought this very special child into the world, and raised her to become a beautiful woman."

"I would be delighted to join the two of you." Sara took offense to 'beautiful woman'.
"Thank you. I know this will make Lauren happy." He said.

Taker left to go get ready for the night, but not before explaining he would have to make it an early night. He had an early flight in the morning, for a show scheduled tomorrow night. He apologized to Sara for not being able to spend more time with Lauren and her. But said he would see them in three days.

Sara told him it was alright. They would have plenty of time to spend together when he came back. She also express her wish to see him wrestle along with her daughter. They told her about the upcoming RAW on Monday, and invited her to come. She said its a date. They all laughed and began to prepare for their night out.

Chapter Two

Taker came to escort the women to his car and drove to their favorite handout. Some of the other wrestlers were there and tried to hit on Lauren's mother, thinking she was her older sister.

The years had been good to her. She had exercised daily as an ritual and ate right. Now it was paying off. They laughed at the expression on their friends faces after finding out Sara was her mother. They settled down, and the evening went well. But, In a corner of the bar. A lone figure sat staring at the trio. When they left, the person left. Followed them home unnoticed, so he thought. As they left the car and went into the building. The other person drove up in front of the building, and sat for awhile before driving off.

"There will be another day." He said.

"And I will have my revenge." As he left.

Lauren and Sara made it to her apartment. Sara told her daughter she was very tired and that she would see her in the morning. Sara went to her room, and headed to the window. She had noticed a person sitting in the corner of the bar watching them. She shrugged it off, at first, thinking there were so many people in the bar, they were probably checking out the scene. Looking for someone to meet. What alarmed her is he followed them out the bar, and then home.

"Okay. Whoever you are, you will get more careless than tonight. Then it will be my turn." She whispered and turned to go to bed.

Taker had tried to get into the night with Lauren and Sara. But he had noticed, over in the corner of the bar, someone sat watching them. Sara in particular. His first thought was to ignore the person. Thinking Sara's a very attractive woman.

And when they were followed out of the bar, he didn't feel concerned. Maybe they wanted to talk to her outside the bar. But, they followed them home at a safe distance. He didn't want to alarm the women, so he let them go on upstairs.

Giving an excuse he wanted to get something from the lobby for a midnight snack. The women said their goodnights and went upstairs. Taker then watched from the shadows as the car parked in front of their building, and then drove off.
'I hate I have to leave for three days.

Something is not right here, I can feel it. Maybe I can get Kane to come back early and watch out for Lauren while I'm gone. He cares as much for her as I do. Well, he thinks he does. He'll do. When I get back, I can keep an eye on the mother.' He thought. He turned to go upstairs to call his 'little' brother, Kane.

The time Taker was gone, Kane kept him informed. Lauren had enjoyed seeing Kane back earlier than had been expected, he had been off for three weeks. And was due to join them this coming Monday on RAW. Sara liked Kane.

He was much younger than his brother, and not as dark. He didn't look through you. Like the other one. And those weird green eyes. Anyway, Taker was the least of her worries. She had caught a glimpse of the car, that had followed them the other night. This time he tried to be a little more careful, but not enough.

'Good. I saw enough of him to recognize him.' She thought. All of those years of training were paying off. 'Your move, creep. And I will be waiting.'
Taker was glad to be back. He could hardly get through his matches, worrying about Lauren.

Kane was good, but he wasn't Taker. He didn't have a killer instinct. He knew this was the reason why Lauren had a special bond with Kane. They were so much alike. They saw the good in people. Whereas he saw the bad and convince him you were good.

The night of RAW had come. Sara was excited to see her daughter wrestle for the first time. Lauren's costume was a turquoise body suit, with long sleeves. On the side were the black flames like Kane's. She wore boots to her calves and a floor length turquoise and black cape. Sara stood in awe of her baby, a wrestler.

"Mom. What do you think?" She asked her mother, who was still staring.

"Oh, baby I'm so proud of you." She started crying.

"Mom. Please don't do that. I have a match in five minutes." Lauren said, trying to calm her mother. There was a knock at the door. It was Taker.

"So. Are you ready for your match tonight?" He asked coming through the door.

"Yes. This is a beginning of a feud with Jackie, the WWF Women's Champion. I'm to get the belt from her at one of the PPVs." She answered. Pleased she's finally getting a chance at the belt."

"It's time, Lauren." A voice hollered from the other side of the door.

"Showtime." She said going out the door.

"Come with me." Taker said. Leading Sara out the dressing room. Here's a monitor where you can see your daughter wrestle."

Sitting her in front of the monitor, he sat down next to her to watch Lauren. He began to explain to Sara what would be going on with the match. Lauren was to wrestle Jackie as she said, but, Jackie would pull some dirty tactics, which cause Lauren to lose the match.

But, not being enough. Jackie would continue beating Lauren until the referees came down to stop her. As she walks out of the ring. Going up the ramp, she began to taunt the crowd and Lauren. But , Lauren gets up and challenges Jackie for the belt at the next PPV. And of course, as cockey as she is, Jackie excepts.

The match went as Taker had explained. And then, the cameras scanned the audience. Something caught Sara's eyes. There, in the audience, was the man who had been stalking them for the last few days. Sara not wanting to alarm Taker. Sat very still and study the face. 'Gotcha.' She thought. Getting up to meet Lauren.
After the match. Jackie and Lauren came backstage, making plans when they will meet, to go over some moves.

"Oh. I didn't know you two were friends. The way you were tossing each other around out there." Sara stated. Looking at the two little females standing before her.

"Jackie. This is my Mom. She's here visiting. Mom. This is Jackie.' Lauren introduced the two women. "Jackie is one of my closest women friends." She said looking at her mother.

"Nice meeting you ma’am. " Jackie extended her hand.

"My pleasure." Sara excepted it. "I hope to see more of you before I leave."

"Sure. See you later Lauren." And with that she disappeared around the corner.

"Why don't you go get dress. While I go exploring?" Sara said hoping to lure out the stalker, by being alone.

"Okay. I won't be long." While going to her dressing room. She wanted to shower and dress in time to see Taker and Kane in a tag team match.

Meanwhile. Sara's hunch had been right, as usual. After Lauren's match. He had followed her backstage hoping she would lead him to Sara. He was able to slip by security. He had watched while the three women talked. He saw as Jackie left. Lauren went to her dressing room. And then, Sara wandering off by her self. She would be the one he wanted.

Sara didn't have to wait long, before she felt someone following her. She continue to lead him out of the arena, into the parking lot, and unto the streets. Sara turned suddenly, to face her stalker.

"I know you don't think this is going to be easy." She began, 'Who are you, and why have you been following me?"

"Why I'm hurt." He said sarcastic.

"You don't remember the one you were paid to kill?" Sara studied his face more. Trying to recognize his voice. Suddenly she knew. Whatever she had to do, couldn't be done here.

She stood as if shocked, giving him false hope. And said. "You! He pulled out a gun, pointing at her, said, "Come with me, and your little girl won't get hurt." That last phrase, is what sealed his fate. He knew who Lauren was, and if he knew about her. He knew about the other. If she were to die. Nothing would stop him from going after her daughters.

“Okay. I'll go with you." She said sounding frightened. They walked back to his car in the parking lot. Unnoticed. So, he thought. And drove off.

While sitting with Sara at the monitor. Taker noticed her stiffened for a moment, as the cameras scanned the audience. She then relaxed. He glanced at the monitor at that moment to see what had caused her to tense. He too, saw the person who had been following them.

After his match. Lauren had come running to him frantic, because she couldn't find he mother. He became concerned. Kane and him spread out to look for her. As he approached the parking lot. He saw her getting into the car with this man. And watched as they drove away.

"Damn." He yelled, as they left. He was just to far away to help her. At that moment, Kane ran up.

"Taker. What's wrong?" He asked, watching the car speed away.
'He has her. How am I going to tell Lauren, her mother has been kidnapped?"

Taker was walking and holding his head, knowing what this will do to Lauren.
Lauren's cellular phone rang. It was her mother. She apologized for leaving. She had ran into an old friend, and they were going to catch up on some old times. And not to worry. She would see her back at the apartment, later.

"And baby, that's a promise." Her mother said. At that moment, Taker walked in with Kane. Before he could tell her the news. She hung up the phone, and told them, that was her mother on the phone, and that everything was alright.

"I'm sorry I made you worry." As she hugged the two giants she had come to love so much. And for being there for her when she needed them. Lauren knew few things she could count on. Two were standing before her. And the other, was her mother's promises.

Taker and Kane just looked at each other. And told Lauren they would meet up with her after they showered and dressed. Going back to their dressing rooms.

"What's going on here?" Kane asked.

"I don't know." Taker answered. "But, whatever it is. I don't like it."

"What are we going to do, Taker. He asked. "If we tell Lauren we saw her mother get in the car, she will say it was her friend."

"And then, we'll have to tell her about the man who has been stalking us for the last week. She will never forgive me if anything happens to her mother. Damn. She trusted me and I let her down. I'm going to lose her, brother." Kane walked over to his brother and put his hand on his shoulder.

"Maybe it was a friend she went off with. Let's not get worked up about it now. We'll wait and see. She wouldn't lie to her daughter knowing her life was in danger. Would she?"

"Kane. I got a bad feeling about this one." He said.

"She's not right. I believe she truly loves her daughter. But she's hiding something. I hope you're right. Because if she has lie to Lauren about what's going on. And she comes up dead.........." They didn't want to think about what would be next.

Taker and Kane met up with Lauren as planned. They left in Kane's car. Going to hang out with some of the other wrestlers. Lauren, Jackie, and Chyna talked about the upcoming schedule. While Terri was being Terri. Bugging The Hardy Boyz, Christian and Edge. Taker and Kane sat with HHH, X-Pac, and Road Dogg. Taker thoughts were somewhere else, Lauren and Sara.

"So, Taker. What do you think abut what HHH just said?" Kane asked, trying to get his brother to snap out of it, before Lauren notice.

"Oh, what were you saying, HHH?" Giving his brother a thank you look. He didn't want Lauren to see how worried he was. But, Lauren had saw the two brothers, and felt they had been acting very strangely. She was going to enjoy herself with her friends, and deal with them later. And later she did. On the way home she had asked them what was going on, which caught the brothers off guard.

"Ummmm! Nothing." Taker said. Lauren just stared at him, wondering why would he be lying to her. Then she looked at Kane, who looked just as dumbfounded as his brother.

"Fine. You don't have to tell me anything tonight. And I'm too tired to get into it with you. But, in the morning, you both better explained to me. What the hell, that was back there. So you won't be getting together to make up some story. Taker you will be staying with me tonight. With that she laid her head on the headrest, closing her eyes.

Taker looked at Kane through the rearview mirror, as if to say, what are we going to do? Kane gave a tilt of his head as if to answer, I don't know. And continue to drive home. Both brothers let out a silent sigh.

Chapter Three

Sara had sat quietly in the car as she was being taking to who knows where. He had allow her to call Lauren explaining she was with an old friend. He didn't want them looking for her just yet. And just in case someone saw them leave. Sara familiarize herself with the scenery. This will help her to get back home.

Finally they reached their destination. It was in a secluded area, back in the woods. There in the midst stood a cabin. There was no one for miles. Sara knew, if he got her in the cabin. Chances are she would never make it out. Assessing her situation. She knew what she had to do and she had to be quick and thorough.
He had been wrong about her being hired to kill him. Actually, she was undercover, as a hit woman. He had been wanted by the agency for some time.

She had worked for this agency for some time, even before she left her two daughters two years ago. Because security had become lacks. She feared for her daughters lives. So she went into hiding, until things had become secured again. The day he had been shot. She had been setup. He didn't know that.

When she fired her gun. It misfired hitting her in the chest knocking her back. At the same time someone was firing at her which missed hitting him. When she woke up. She was in one of the agencies hospitals. She never knew what happened to him. She knew talking to him wouldn't do any good. For the fact she was presumably hired to kill him. Was reason enough to see her dead.

"Get out of the car." He said. "And no funny stuff, you hear?" He was holding the gun on her. Walking over to her, he whispered in her ear.

"I am going to enjoy having you. And then, killing you. After you. I think I'll go have those two lovely daughters of yours, and then kill them. With this remark, he had made a fatal mistake.

Sara flew into a rage she hadn't felt in a long time. Before he knew it, the gun had been knocked out of his hand, and flying into the brush. He turned to stare at Sara. And in her eyes he saw his life flash before him. The next instance, she kicked him in his abdomen with such force, he flew backwards.

Before he could recover from the blow. She circled around him. Jumped on his back. And with her legs wrapped around his waist, holding him firmly. She put one arm under his chin, the other arm in back of his head, and with one quick jerk, his neck was broken. Sara felt his pulse.

He won't be coming after her again. She looked around. Sensing everything was clear, drove off in the car. A few moments later. A figure stepped out of the cabin, walked over to the man lying dead. And watched as the car drove away.

'First things first.' They thought.

'Then I will take care of you and yours." As tears began to fall down their face, turned back towards the body.

Chapter Four

Taker and Kane found themselves saying goodnight in the hallway. Under the watchful eyes of Lauren. Kane went to the apartment he shared with Taker. Taker followed Lauren into hers.

"So. Where will I be sleeping, honey?" He was trying to be humorous. It didn't work. Lauren gave him a look. 'This is going to be a long night.' He thought.

"Either on the floor or on the couch. And if those don't accommodate you. How about the doghouse?" She was returning the jest. He didn't think it was so funny.

"On the floor will do." He had already tried the small couch. And the carpets in the apartments were very thick and comfortable. She went into her room. And came back with pillows and a sleeping bag.

"Sleeping bag. Thank you." He said. Resigned to the fact, he had to let her have her way to keep suspicion down.

She may be a little angry with him. But, she still cared about him. He had slept over many times, when she was either upset with someone or her day had been bad. Taker had a way of calming her down. Not tonight. She wanted to know what was going on, and they were lying to her.

He knew she was upset with him. And knew he couldn't lie anymore, nor ask it of Kane. He decided to tell her the truth in the morning, and accept the consequences. He was going to rest, he knew he would be needing it for the days to come. He fell off to sleep.

Taker had been asleep for an hour. When he was awaken by someone falling over him. With his quick reflexes. He grabbed the intruder. Threw them on the floor, pinning them under his great body. Raised his fist to give them a blow, when he found himself flying through the air, crashing into the wall. Stunned, he recovered in time to turn on his assailant. As the lights, suddenly came on. There he was. Staring into the big brown eyes, of Sara.

"What are you doing here?" Getting off the floor rubbing his back.
Taker. Mom. What's going on here?" Lauren hollered. Standing in total shock. After hearing the commotion, coming from her living room. She had finally drifted off to sleep. When she heard what sounded like someone falling. Then next, she heard a small thud and then a big crash against the wall.

This alarmed her. Running to see what was happening, all she could think of was, Taker in trouble. Her eyes. Were not prepared, for the scene in front of her, as she turned on the lights. Her mother and Taker, on the floor. Staring at each other. Ready to attack each other.

"What are you two doing?" She asked, again. The two continue to stare.

"And what do you mean what is she doing here? She's my mother, Taker. Remember. She visiting me.

'May be that crash against the wall was him and it knocked him senseless.' She thought. With her question and curious stare she had their attention. Sara looked at Taker. And then to Lauren.

"I don't think Taker meant, what am I doing here as much as how did I get in. Right, Taker?" She turned away from him, and to her daughter. Reassuring her everything was alright.

Taker didn't like lying to Lauren, anymore than he already had. He had to go along with her until he could figure this mess out. Besides, she was back. And defiantly safe.

"Yes. I was a little stunned from fallen against the wall." He walked over to the couch, deep in thought. Lauren looked at Taker, confused. Sara noticed, he didn't.

"I came in not expecting anyone to be on the floor, sleeping." Giving Taker a look. "I stumbled over him. He was startled, tried to get up. Tripped over me, and fell into the wall." Sara troubleshooting.

"If you don't mind. I think I'll just go to my apartment. I think I've had enough excitement for one night." Walking towards the door.

"By the way, Lauren. What Kane and I were hiding. We wanted to surprise you with a visit to the Mansion. Since we will be having sometime off after this week."

"Oh! Taker." Running to hug and kiss him. "When, when, when?"

"How about this weekend?" Glad she wasn't angry anymore.

"Yes. And Mom, you'll still be here?" Looking at her mom pleadingly. "If so, Taker you wouldn't mind if she came too. Would you?" Taker just smiled at her, and shook his head. Giving Sara one last look.

"You are more than welcome to come, if this makes Lauren happy." With that he left.

"Mom. You are going to love the Mansion. It is so big and beautiful. You could get lost there." Lauren was beaming. They would always go there for their R &R.
The two women talked a little more, and finally went to bed. Taker entered his apartment. Kane woke up startled. When he heard the door slam.

“What's going on?" Rushing out of his room, confused.

"Her mother. She back." He told his brother, who stood there surprised. "Yes. And I have a bruise on my butt to prove it."

"What do you mean?" Kane still confused.

"You remember when I said. I thought there was something about Sara?"

"Yes?" Kane trying to follow his brother. Taker began to explain to his brother the events of the night.

"I wish I had been a fly on the wall, to see your big butt sent flying across the room by that small woman." Kane laughing uncontrollably.
Taker gave his brother the look. But Kane continue to laugh.

"Oh. Little brother. While you're laughing. The secret we were keeping from Lauren. Well, guess what? We will be spending some time at the Mansion. With Lauren and her mother." With that said. He went to his room, Leaving his brother standing with his mouth opened.

"Wait. Taker. I had plans. Oh. Uh. When did you say?" Asking through his brother bedroom door. Taker opened the door.

"I didn't. But whatever your plans. Cancel them. This weekend you will be entertaining. Lauren and her mother, with me. Goodnight my laughing little, brother." Kane went to his room mumbling something under his breath.

Chapter Five

The next few days went uneventful. Taker and Sara glanced at each other occasionally, when they thought no one was looking. Sara knew Taker was on to something about her, and the Mansion thing was just a cover. Whatever it was he didn't feel Lauren needed to know. She didn't like loose ends. They had a way of coming back on you.

A couple of days later. Sara decided to stay home while Lauren, Taker and Kane. Went to one of their matches in the next town. As she prepared to spend a quiet night at home. Someone knocked at the door.

"Yes." She called. Wondering who could be at her door this time of night. "Who is it?"

"Police. Ma,am." The voice from the other side answered. Panic struck Sara. Lauren or Leslie. Without thinking, she threw open the door, to a gun in her face.
"What.....?" Startled.

"Shut up." The angry woman said with a hiss. "You need to come with me. And there want be any trouble for anyone else. Do you understand?" Sara knew what the woman meant.

Without a second thought, went with the woman, for fear Lauren may come home. They went up the elevator to the top floor. And walked the rest of the way up the stairs to the roof. Sara broke her silence.

"Who are you and what do you want?"

"Who am I ? What do I want, you ask? Let me ask you a question. Do you go around breaking peoples' necks and forget about them, you cold hearted witch?"
'No, this couldn't be happening. I thought no one else was there. Why didn't she come out to help? And let me leave?'

“Oh. I know what you are probably thinking. Why didn't I come out to help and why did I let you go. Simple. I had been in the woods going for my usual walk. As I came in the cabin I saw the struggle. And before I could do anything, my Pa laid dead, by you. When I finally gain my composure. You were already leaving. Besides, if you could do that to my Pa. What could you do to me?"

"Do you know what your father was going to do, to my daughters and me? What other choice did he give me?" Sara trying to reason with the woman.

"I know what my father did. In fact, I helped plan a lot of the things he did. I was the brains and he was the bronze. We were good together until you killed him. Whoever said, revenge is sweet. Certainly was right. Now, this is what we are going to do. Let's see if you can fly? Pointing to the edge of the roof.

"Oh. Don't try any of that funny stuff you did on my, Pa. I don't plan to get any closer than I am."

Sara had to think of something, fast. As an answer to her prayers, in the corner near the edge was a pigeon coop, full of pigeons. As the women approached. The pigeons stirred, causing the woman to turn towards the noise, taking her eyes off of Sara for a moment.

That was all she needed. Sara kicked the gun out of the woman's hand, and thrust an open palm into her chest, sending her backwards. Tripping over the edge. She fell off the roof. into the parking lot below. Sara walked to the edge, looked over to see the woman lying there in a mess. Sara turned and went back to the apartment before Lauren returned home.

As Lauren, Taker and Kane arrived to their apartment building. They saw people standing around, police cars over. And the parking lot roped off

"Are you tenants here?" The policeman asked.

"Yes. What happened?" Taker looking to the parking lot.

"Someone fell off the roof. You can't come in here now. I must ask you to park your car somewhere else." The policeman turned to stop other tenants from coming into the lot.

"Ooooh! That's terrible. My mother must be in hysterics over this. I shouldn't have left her home alone." Jumping out of the car, leaving the two men sitting there.

They watched as she ran towards the building. Taker went to find a spot to park his car. And he wanted to get more information on what had happened.
Lauren entered the apartment expecting to see her mother up. Instead she found her sleeping, oblivious to the world. She quietly turned and closed the bedroom door behind her. She went to put on some coffee. Waiting for taker and Kane to come in, they did.

"Did you find out anything more?" Pouring coffee in their cups.

"Only someone saw two women on the roof. They fought very briefly, and then one fell off.

Taker explained he overheard a witness telling the police. Sara heard her daughter when she came into her room. She pretended to be asleep. She heard Taker. Someone saw two women. But couldn't identify them. It's best if they thought she had been sleep all this time. She went back to bed.

The next morning as Taker was going for his morning workout. One of the neighbors came up to him to talk about the events of last night. Then asked if everything was alright with Lauren and her mother. And mention about the policewoman dressed in plain clothes, who came to the door.

'How did you know she was an police officer?" Taker enquired.

He explained how he heard her knock at the door an announce she was the police. When Lauren's mother opened the door, she told her she needed to come with her. He saw them get on the elevator. Taker informed him that everything was alright, and thanked him for his concern. He didn't want him approaching Lauren with this news. Since her mother was to have went to bed early.

He made his way down to the lobby to ask the night clerk if he had seen Sara come down stairs last evening. She thought maybe she dropped her wallet while she was down. He informed him he hadn't seen her all evening. But told him the woman found in the parking lot, is also the one he identify seeing going upstairs. And stated he had never seen her before. Taker asked if he knew what floor she got off on.

"Why yours?" He answered.

"That witch." Taker came into the apartment slamming the door. He was furious. Kane jumped as he entered.' What, now. He thought.'

"Guess what I found out by accident and then some enquiring." Taker said a little calmer.

"Sara had a visitor. Possibly the same person they found in the parking lot. Sara was sleep when Lauren got in right?" Kane gave a nod. He hated when he got like this.

"She left with some woman who claimed to be the police, the one the night clerk saw go up. And identified her as the one in the parking lot. He said he never saw Sara come down all evening. Two women on the roof. One is dead. Who and where is the other?"

"Wait Big Bro. You're not saying what I think you're saying. Sara, a killer. No." Kane got up running his hands through his hair. Trying to make some sense of what his brother had told him.

"If this is true. Maybe that answers how she got away from the kidnapper. What about, Lauren?"

Yes, what about Lauren? Until now he had been able to protect her from a lot of things. But this was different. It was her mother. How do you protect someone from their mother? You can't. For the first time she entered his life he felt helpless.

The two brothers looked at each other. Then, one sat down on the couch gazing at the ceiling, deep in thought. The other walked to the window looking out over the city, not noticing how beautiful the scenery.

Sara hadn't slept all night. She thought of her run in with the woman and the fall to her death. She hated killing anyone. But this and the other had been necessary. Her families lives depended on it. She wondered if there were more. She had to protect her family at any cost. They were going to Houston to the Mansion in a couple of days.

Lauren said the Mansion was big enough to get lost in. Maybe some how she could get Leslie and Don to come to the Mansion with them. Taker would be easy. He would do anything to keep Lauren happy. First she needed to speak to Leslie.

"Hi honey. It's Mom." She cooed over the phone. "Lauren and I are going to Houston in a couple of days. It's what she calls her R &R time. I was wondering if Don and you could come and visit. Kinda break the ice before I come to visit you. If everything goes well. I can leave with you. What do you say?"

"That sounds fine with me. But, Don has to go out of town tonight on a business trip. I'll be here alone. Maybe I can come tomorrow, and leave with you to Houston. You think?"

"Why. Yes. That sounds like a winner. We can surprise your sister. I think she would be glad to have us together for the very first time in a long time."

"Okay. It's settled. I'll be there. I'm going to make my reservation and call you back with the information. Mom, love you. And see you soon."

"Love you too, my darling. More than life it's self." She told her what time to call with the information.

At a time she knew Lauren wouldn't be there. She then hung up the phone. Pleased her plan was going so well. She had some investigation to do. As she said before. She hated loose ends. They had a way of coming back on you. This time she would clear any up. For good.

Chapter Six

Sara's investigation had been fruitful, with the help of a close agent friend. After letting him know she would be getting in contact with him later, she hung up the phone. Pleased.

She turned and walked away. She ran into a brick wall. Taker. She had been so caught up with making plans with her friend. She hadn't noticed him. Taker had followed her from the apartment, and had made up in his mind he was going to get to the bottom of this. He wasn't going to lose Lauren without a fight. Even if it's with her mother.

"Taker. How long have you been there?" She asked for fear he had over heard her conversation.

"Don't worry Sara. I didn't get a chance to hear what you were talking about." Observing how nervous she seemed. "What's the matter Sara. You look like a wife, who was caught cheating."

"I don't know what you're talking about." She tried to walk pass him. She could see why her daughter cared so much for him. He was relentless, and a force to be dealt with. But, why did he intimidate her? It wasn't his size. She has taken on large men before, and never backed off once. Well, maybe not as large. What was it about him, to cause these emotions?

Maybe his love and devotion to her daughter. One thing she knew, he would protect her daughter to death. And for that, she would be grateful to him. Now, if she could get him pointed in another direction. Before he spoil her plans.

"It's rude to walk away from someone when they're talking to you." He said, as he grabbed her by the arm with his huge hand.

"Now you listen, and you listen good. I don't know what your game is, and frankly, I don't give a damn. If you want to self destruct go right ahead. But, you better not take Lauren down with you. Do we understand each other, madam?"
When Taker grabbed Sara. He caused her to stumble falling back into him, face to face, staring each other in the eyes. With their bodies, very close. She stared into those green eyes full of anger and fire. At that moment, a sharp pain, like a knife pierced her heart. Hearing his slicing words at her. And seeing his disgust for her. But, his touch......felt so good. Sara looked him in the eyes and said.

"Yes. We understand each other, very well." She hurried to her car, before he could see the tears forming in her eyes. She sped off, driving until she came to a park. There she let the floods of tears fall, as her body trembled.

"What is wrong with me? Why is he having this effect on me? She continued to cry until she fell asleep. Under the shadows of a Weeping Willow.

When Sara stumbled into Taker, leaving their bodies so close together. Something in Taker had tingled with her nearness.

"Damn, that woman." He said with a low whisper, as he watched her speed off. The way she looked at him and said, 'Yes we understand each other very well.' What was that? He had also noticed the tears forming in her big beautiful brown eyes.

He hadn't noticed until now, how much they reminded him of Lauren's when she was sad. What was this feeling he had, when he touched her? The excitement he felt at her body next to his. Could it be... he... felt... something?

How long she had slept under the tree. She didn't know. But she knew it was late. Darkness had slowly crept in. Sara started up the car and drove towards home, thinking about what had happened between Taker and her. Fine, if he feels this way than it would be alright with her. When they get to the Mansion she would just stay out of his way. She didn't need any distraction right now. She then put Taker in her subconscious. And made her way home.

Back at the apartment. Lauren had called Taker, frantic she couldn't find her mother. It was late and she hadn't heard from her.

"I'm sorry I keep bugging you when I can't find my mother. She left her cellular phone and pager here. I can't get in touch with her." Looking at her watch, noting the time.

Taker was also concerned, remembering their encounter earlier. He was about to tell her he had seen her mother, when in walks, Sara. Taker looked deep into her eyes. He silently let out a sigh of relief. He bid Lauren a goodnight. And walked out the door, before anything else could be said.

"Well. I guess I'm not his favorite person at this moment." Trying to hide the hurt she felt.

"I'm sorry if I made you worried. I went to the park and sat under a tree. It was so cool and peaceful. I fell asleep."

"Come here Mom." Lauren took her mother in her arms, sensing she was upset. Possibly, from having her so worried.

"Taker has a funny way of showing his feelings, he just doesn't. For those of us who know him. Are aware he cares, and deeply. There is no better friend. You will see." Sara wondered.

Taker made it back to his apartment. Went into the kitchen to get a beer. Sitting in a chair across from his brother, began to ponder. What the hell these feelings were, he had for Sara? He couldn't stand her. So he thought. She was full of tricks. Not to mention, she threw him across the room. And there's this possibility she may have killed, twice.

Yet! Today when they were so close. Their bodies just touching. Something happened between them. And when Lauren had called him over worried about her. He had became worried sick. And when she finally came in. What was that? It felt as if his knees were going to give way from relief, she was safe. That's why he had to leave so abruptly. He couldn't let them see, how worried, he truly had been.

"Hellooo! Taker." Kane had been calling him for the last minute. "Is she alright?"

"Yes. Yes. She's fine." Coming out of his thoughts.

"Why are you so far away? What's going on?" Kane noticing something different about his brother's, mood.

"I'm just thinking about going to the Mansion and the arrangements to be made." He was not ready to explore these feelings with anyone, yet.

" I guess we better get some sleep. We have a long day tomorrow." He said goodnight to his brother and went to his room. But he knew sleep would not come easy. He remembered Sara's eyes. She had been crying, and he knew he had been the reason.

Sara said goodnight to her daughter, and again apologized for having worried her. She promised next time, she would make sure she had her pager and cellular phone on her. She went to her room, thinking of the arrival of her youngest daughter.

Lauren will be so surprise. This should make up for today. She thought of the trip to the Mansion, Taker and what had went between them today. And the heat between their bodies, as they touched. Before she knew it, she had drifted off, whispering his name.

Sara woke up, the next morning, to the smell of coffee. She got out of bed, showered and dressed. She came out of her room. Finding Taker, Lauren and Kane, sitting at the dining room table, eating. Taker gave her a look. She gazed into his eyes, and quickly turned away from him. 'I am not ready for him this morning. But I can't let on anything is wrong. I can do this, can't I?' Looking up. She saw that Taker was still staring at her. 'Oh brother. I need some coffee.'

"Mom. Are you alright?" Noticing her mother standing there in a trance.

“Yes. I just need some coffee." She quickly went into the kitchen to get some coffee. Hoping no one would disturb her, while she pulled herself together. This was going to be a long day.

Sara and Taker had been so preoccupied with each other. Neither had noticed Kane, watching the reaction between them. He had felt something strange was up with his brother. He didn't buy that, thinking about going to the Mansion one bit.

He decided to watch this situation very closely. He didn't want his brother getting hurt. Even a man like Taker can become vulnerable when it comes to the things of the heart. He had to keep his eyes opened for his brother's sake.

Chapter Seven

Lauren, Taker and Kane, had went to pick up some things for their stay at the Mansion. Sara told them she wanted to get some rest before the trip. With looks from Taker and Kane, she went to her room. After seeing them leave and pull out of the parking lot. She left, to go get Leslie. This is going to make Lauren very happy.

When the trio finished getting everything they needed. They went to put the supplies in Taker and Kane's apartment. Then they went to Lauren's. As they entered, Lauren suddenly froze on the spot. Taker, who was close behind her, bumped into her, causing both to fall to the floor. Kane fell over them.

There they were, piled on the floor. Poor Lauren was under the two big men. They quickly rolled off, not wanting to hurt her, and confused at what had made her stop. All that ran through Taker's mind was, what had Sara done now? The next thing, Lauren ran screaming into her apartment. From inside, someone else was screaming.

The two men, gathering themselves. Went into the apartment to see, what was happening. And as they looked, they saw two Laurens, screaming and holding each other. Sara stood there watching the two, with her hands over her mouth and tears in her eyes.

"Leslie. When did you get here?" She asked her sister, still holding her.

"About thirty minutes ago." Holding her sister just as tight.

"Mom. Is this why you stayed home?" Walking to her mother giving her a hug.

"Yes. I thought it would be a good surprise, if she came to visit while her husband was out of town." As she looked at her two daughters. Turning to Taker.

"If it's alright with you. She would like to come with us to the Mansion."

"Oh, please. Please." Lauren running and hugging him.

"Of course, she is more than welcome. I would like to get know you, since we have never had the chance to meet." Turning to Sara, and staring deeply into her eyes.

"We have the pleasure of knowing your sister, and now your mother. This will make it complete."

"Thank you for accepting another one of my daughters." Sara, taking aback by the intensity of the deep green eyes. Kane was convinced more, something was between them.

"Now that that's settled. Shouldn't we be leaving for the Mansion?" Kane interrupting this little scene.

"Yes. Ladies, see you at the Mansion." Taker turned and went out the door. Kane following behind, turned and gave Sara a look, that gave her the shivers.

"They're leaving, now?" Sara, confused with the look, by Kane.

"Yes, Mom. And we'll be leaving early in the morning. Lauren was wondering what is going on with her mother. She had been acting very strangely since she came in late that day. If she didn't know any better, she would have thought she was in love. Then she thought better. No way. Since her father, no man has come close to winning her mother's heart.

"Sara believed more than ever there was something Taker and Kane had on her. Was Taker trying to catch her off guard? Or was, what she felt from him. Real.

Well, if he is trying to catch her, then he is in for a rude awakening. But, what if it is the other? What would she do? Since her husband, there has never been a man who could come close to matching him. Until now.

All evening Sara had tried to get into having her daughters with her after so long. But too many thoughts kept floating in her head. 'I can't wait until we get to the Mansion. We're like sitting ducks if we stay here.' She knew with the information she had obtained, it wouldn't be long before they had an unwanted visit. If the Mansion is as big as Lauren said. It will give them a better chance. But she needed to get focus, on her plan.

"Mom. What's wrong? You are so far away." Leslie asked, holding her mother's hand. Lauren had left the room. And she figured she could get her mother to open up.

"Oh. I'm just exhausted. And seeing you two together has relaxed me so much." Not wanting to worry her.

"You know what. Since we have to leave so early in the morning. I think I'll turn in early. Don't you two stay up late. We have a long drive ahead." Sara hugged and kissed her daughters goodnight.

"Do you think she's alright?" Leslie asked her sister, after her mother left the room. "She was quiet all evening. Has she been that way since she's been here?"

"No. She hasn't. Lauren looked at her sister, than towards her mother's room concerned. Her sister noticed something wrong, too. 'I can't wait until I see Taker tomorrow.' She thought. 'He'll know what to do.'

Taker and Kane had drove all the way to the Mansion without saying a word. Taker lost in his thoughts. Kane not wanting to push the issue, remained silent. He knew it was Sara who was the reason his brother had retreated into himself. In time if he wanted to share, he would.

After driving all evening and night. They finally made it to the Mansion. Totally spent of energy. The men decided to get some sleep and get everything ready later. The women wouldn't be in until late that night. After asking the caretaker to bring in their belongings. The two brothers may a beeline to their rooms to get some much-needed sleep.

As the brothers crashed. The women were loading up the car to leave. After two cups of coffee each, they started on their way. Sara preoccupied with so many things in her head. Never noticed the car pulling out behind them as they left the parking lot, and headed for the road.

Usually, she would have spotted the car the moment they stepped outside. She is the top female agent, in the organization, and better than some of the men. She is only used for their most difficult cases. She's that good. But lately, something or someone has clogged her senses. And this may prove to be fatal to someone she loves, if she doesn't pull out of it.

The car continue to follow them at a safe distance. Even to the pit stops along the way. And when they finally pulled up to the Mansion. It stopped, checked it out. And drove away. Sara never noticed.

Chapter Eight

"Ladies. You made it." Kane said while helping them with their luggage.

"Come with me, and I will show you to your rooms. Of course, Lauren knows where hers is."

"Where is Taker?" She asked. "I need to talk to him."

"He's in the kitchen telling cook what to prepare for lunch." He hollered, looking over his shoulder as he continued up the stairs.

"Thanks. I'll see you two later." She turned and walked towards the kitchen. Sara watched her daughter. Puzzled at why she was so anxious to talk to Taker.

"Coming, Sara?" Kane asked, giving her the look. 'This is going to be a long visit.' She thought.

"I'm worried about her. She hasn't been the same since that night she came in late." Lauren trying explained to Taker. As she paced back and forth, concerned about her mother.

"Leslie's worried, too. Something happened that day. I know it did. And she won't tell me what." Taker listened, as she spoke. And drifted off to that day, when their bodies touched and the heat that went between them.

"Taker!" Lauren called. "What's wrong with you? You are as bad as she is. You would think something got a hold of the both of you."

"Lauren. I'm trying to help you figure out what's you with your mother." This was true.

"Maybe she's just exhausted. A lot of things have been going on the last week since she's been here. Her falling asleep in the park proves this. Out here will change that. Plenty of fresh air and relaxation, you'll see a change woman. Why don't your sister, my brother, you and I go out tomorrow night, and let her have the place to herself?"

"Oh, Taker. Have I told you how much I love you lately?" Giving him a hug and kiss on the cheek. "You always make me feel better."

"The pleasure is mine." He said holding her tight. Pulling her away, he looked into big brown eyes that reminded him of Sara's.

"Don't worry about your mother. She's a smart woman. And she can take care of herself. Okay?"

"Okay. I'm going to see if Leslie wants to go out tomorrow night." She left to go find her sister and mother. Taker had grown exhausted with thinking about Sara. Maybe a night out without her will do him some good.

The next day Sara had made her way into the garden, noting how beautiful and peaceful it was. She needed to contact her friend, Jay. She wanted to see if he was ready as planned. He informed her everything was ready.

"See you. And remember. I love you." She closed her cellular phone. And begin to smile for the person that was at the other end. He had been a good friend. No like a father.

She hadn't seen Taker standing there, until it was too late. He looked at her, and shook his head. Who was she saying she loved? What does it matter to him who she loved? Taker ran to the house up the stairs taking two steps at a time. Reaching his room. Slammed the door shut. Leaning against the door, allow tears to drop. How could this woman get to him in such a way?

Kane stood on his balcony as he watched what went on, not sure of what had happened. All he could do is watch in silence and hope his brother would get through this.

Sara stood in shock. Wondering what is going on with Taker, as she watched him glare at her and run away. What did he think he heard? They're going out tonight. She decided to go with them. Maybe she can find out what's bugging him.

When Sara informed everyone she would not be staying home, but going out with them. Lauren and Leslie protested saying she needed her rest. Taker snarled, to let her do whatever she wanted. And, let's get the hell out of here. Everyone looked at each other and walked slowly out the door behind him.

They arrived at the bar. Taker was in a foul mood. Which made everyone uncomfortable. Only Sara and Kane had some clue to what was bothering him. Kane felt it had something to do with Sara. Sara felt it was something he overheard this afternoon in the garden.

Then Taker said something that hurt Sara. Something about how treacherous these brown-eyed females can be. Like she-devils waiting to rip your heart apart. Only Kane and Sara heard the comment. Leslie and Lauren had left the table. Sara began to order Tequilas. One after another, until she had numbed the pain she felt in her heart. Lauren and Leslie tried as they could didn't stop her.

Finally he had broke her. Leaving the table, she found the biggest man at the bar, and began to flirt openly with him. The music began to play. She led him to the dance floor. She began to sway her hips very slowly from side to side. She had spent much time in exotic places. And her dancing showed it.

As she began to swirl her hips, Taker watched. And for the first time tonight, he noticed what she had on. She wore a black sleeveless tight dress, not so tight, just enough to compliment her figure. It was a few inches above her knees. She continued to sway and swirl her body.

The man she was dancing with was getting excited. Taker took a BIG gulp of his beer, as he watched her dancing so seductively. She gave him a look. He took another gulp, as he saw her dance towards the man. Their bodies meeting. He had his hands, rubbing all over her. Taker felt his anger swelling. He finally admitted, he desired her. The man had his arms around her waist, his body moving with hers, she was really exciting him. Taker gulped the remainder of the beer down. She was exciting another man. He is the one she should be doing those things to.

Lauren and Leslie watched, this beautiful and desirable woman, they call mother. Out on the floor dancing this way. They were a little embarrassed, but more afraid for their mother, she was drunk. And this man may try to take advantage. Lauren gently touched Taker's arm.

On cue Taker and Kane moved towards the dance floor, and stood behind Sara dancing her dance. Only the big man saw them. And as big as he were. They were bigger. He raised both hands in the air. As if to say. Okay she's all yours. And walked back to the bar.

Sara stood wondering why did he leave. When she felt herself being lifted off the floor and over someone's shoulder, headed out the door, with Kane, Lauren and Leslie following close behind. He threw her in the back seat of the car. And gave her a look as to say, don't even try it. She sat in the back seat not saying a word.

When they made it to the Mansion, everyone left the car and went in. As Sara came in, Taker was standing waiting for her. She froze up not ever seeing him quite this angry. He grabbed her by the arm, pulling her out the door to the garden. Lauren and Kane had seen that look before. And knew it was better not to get between him and whoever were in front of that look.

"Shouldn't we go after them, Lauren?" Leslie asked concerned for her mother. Not knowing this man. He seemed very angry.

"Don't worry, Les. Taker won't do anything to hurt her. He's just going to give her one of his 'lectures'. Kane and I have heard many. Huh, Kane?" She asked. Kane just nodded. Lauren and Leslie went up to their rooms. Kane lingered. Not sure everything would be alright.

Taker made his way to the garden, pulling Sara behind him. She almost fell twice, trying to keep up with his long strides. She was so tipsy she didn't understand what was going on. Entering the garden. Taker pushed her towards the bench.

"Sit down!" He growled. Still trying to focus on what this man standing in front of her was saying, Sara just stood there.

Taker not known for his patience. Walked over to her, and with one hand shoved her down on the bench. She lost her balance, fell over the bench head first, and passed out as she hit the ground.

Taker seeing this ran to her side, fearing in his rage with her actions of the night. May have hurt her. After watching her for a moment and checking for injuries. He then realized, she had passed out from too much drinking.

His anger subsided, he watched her breathing as he held her in his arms. His mind went back over the evening. He remembered her dancing, and the way she moved so seductively. But, it wasn't him she was with. He could have wrung that slob's neck, the way he had his hands on her. He gently rubbed his hand down her cheek. How soft and fragile she looked lying in his arms. Then, he bent down to kiss her inviting full lips.

"Taker. Is she alright?" Kane asked as he approached. It's getting late. You should take her in, now." Taker never taking his eyes off her, for fear she would disappear, gather her small figure in his arms. Took her inside, up to her room. Laid her on the bed, and covered her with a blanket. Quietly closing the door behind him as he left.

Taker went downstairs to the study. Poured himself a drink. Sat in a chair, not staring at anything in particular.

"What was that out there?" Kane demanded, standing in front of his brother.

"Have you lost your mind, that's Lauren's mother. She trusts you."

"Don't you dare." He said. Now standing facing his brother.

"Don't you dare, ever question my loyalty to Lauren. And as far as her mother is concerned, it has nothing to do with you." And that being said. He stormed out of the room, as Kane watched.

"Sorry, bro. But this is my concern. Especially when it comes to the two people I love the most. Lauren and you." Kane went to the window and stared at the moon, noticing how brightly it shown tonight.

The next morning found Lauren and Leslie the only two speaking. Taker was up and out riding on one of his Harleys. Kane went to parts unknown. And Sara, well she was dead to the world. Clueless, to what had happened after they had went to bed.

The girls sat and ate breakfast, discussing the events of last night and their mother's dancing. At first, they were a little shocked. But after talking about it, began to laugh and think it was kind of cool to have such a sexy mom.

"Lauren, can I asked a question? Since you know him better than me?" Lauren nodded to her sister. "Why was Taker so angry at Mom?"

"I don't know, Les." She had expected him to be angry. After listening to her sister's question, made her realize, the man she knew wouldn't had grabbed her mother the way he did.

And then lights came on. It can't be. Since the day her mother had came in late. Both have been acting strange. Stealing looks at each other when they thought no one was watching. She didn't make a big deal out of it, she just thought they were trying to get into each others' minds. As Taker likes to do. She remembered the look on Taker's face, when her mother was dancing with the big man.

He looked like a man, who had just caught his lover, with someone else. And she knew now, what was nagging her about his look, as she went to her room. She had tried to convince Leslie everything was alright. She knew Taker wouldn't hurt her mother, but he was acting weird. Then she thought. Taker and her mom, have feelings for each other. Lauren sighed.

"Lauren. Where did you go?" Leslie a little puzzled, at her sister's reaction to her question.

"I was thinking about your question." She replied.

"Yes, Taker was a little over the line. But, considering mom's action; which, may I remind you could have caused a very bad scene, for all of us. Left him no choice, and for everyone concerned, had to set her straight." She hoped this would put her sister at ease. While she get to the bottom of this situation.

Lauren and Leslie decided to go shopping at the local mall. Not wanting to wake their mom, left a note telling all concerned where they would be. Taker was the first to find the note, when he came back that afternoon. He was glad Leslie was there for Lauren.

"So. What do you have there? A love letter." Sara asked, as she came out of the kitchen. With her first cup of coffee.

"Good afternoon. Madam. I see you have decided to join the living." He was very cold.

He had been angry with his brother because of her. And these damn feelings that clouded his judgment. Kane was right. She is Lauren's mother. And yes there are things about her. This is where it stops.

'What the hell is wrong with him?' She thought. "Is there a problem you have with me. We're along. We can have it out this very moment. Or, until I leave your home. You can stay out of my way, and I will stay out of yours. That's if, I am still welcome?" She stared long into his beautiful green eyes, and her heart melted. She wanted to run into his powerful arms, wrap herself around him. Lock their lips, and get lost in each other, never letting go.

"I am a man of my word. As long as Lauren is happy, then we have no problem." Turning away from her, he left her standing there. Walked up to his room. Never noticing the tear, rolling down the very cheek, he had touched the night before.

"That woman is driving me crazy." He roared.

"One minute she's this pistol firing shots at me. And then she has this soft sensual way she looks at me." It took everything he had to keep from picking her up in his arms, carrying her to his room his bed and making love to her, until they were drained, of every ounce of energy. He laid back on his bed, thinking of Sara. So much for 'this is where it stops'.

Chapter Nine

It was evening when Kane finally came in, noticing no one was around. He went into the kitchen to get something to eat. He hadn't eaten all day, worried about his brother. Knowing the anger between them wouldn't last. It never did. He heard a movement behind him.

Sara had gone to her room, not wanting to be alone. She called Jay again, telling him she was ready to put the plan in motion. This was a good way of getting her mind off of 'Things'. She was looking out the window into the garden admiring how beautiful it was at night, and commenting on Taker's taste. When she saw a strange movement in the garden. She decided to investigate. She opened her bedroom door, and looked around. Seeing no one, started down the stairs.
Taker had heard her when she came to her room. His was next to hers. And not wanting to be near her stayed in the room. He heard her leave. And watched as she went downstairs, and out the door into the garden. He decided he was going to get everything out in the open. He followed her.

The movement Kane heard was one of the men there, to kill Sara. Seeing Kane, he tried to sneak out. But, Kane saw him and ran after him. They made it to the garden, as Kane caught up with him and grabbed him by his shirt collar. Another man came up behind Kane with a knife.

Sara made it to the garden, prepared for anything. Curious to what she thought she saw, when someone grabbed her shoulder, spinning her around. As she came around, she gave a kick in the groin. A combination of a palm to the face and a kick to the side of the head. She walked over to the person lying on the ground.
Jay yelled to Kane to watch out. Causing all to turn their heads towards him, giving him a chance to catch the one with the knife off guard, he did.

Kane seeing him tackling the one with the knife. Took the one he was holding, by the throat, raised him high and threw him to the ground. He wasn't getting up from there anytime soon. The one Jay had knocked to the ground was up swinging his knife, preparing to charge him. He was so intense with Jay, he never saw it coming. Kane gave him a boot to the back of the head, sending him falling to the ground. He rolled onto his back, holding the knife that pierced his chest, and through his heart. With a gasp, he died instantly.

"Taker!" Sara hollered, kneeling down by him.

"Oh, my darling. Are you alright?" He never answered. The blows would have killed a normal man. Taker wasn't a normal man.

He had been caught off guard and wasn't able to protect himself against her onslaught. She was so busy tending to him, she never heard anyone coming behind her. Until it was too late. She felt a blow to her back, sending her to the ground face first.

But, as quick as she hit the ground, she rolled to her feet facing her assailants. Before her stood three men. They were coming towards her. She had to protect Taker. He was in no condition to fight. She ran, hoping they would follow her, they did.

Jay and Kane heard Sara holler Taker's name. They ran in the direction of her voice. As they approached. They heard a struggle, and running.

When she felt she had run a safe distance from Taker. She stopped sharply, flipping in the air landed in the chest of one of the men sending him into the bushes. As she hit the ground she twirled with a kick to the face of another causing his head to jerk back, he was dead.

The one in the bushes had recovered and was coming after her. The one in front of her had dodged her swing. A third appeared, holding a nightstick. She was cornered. Sizing up the situation, decided to go for it. She was prepared to give it all she had. She was able to connect with a thrust to the throat of one, sending him gasping for breath. She charged another, but felt the nightstick across her lower back sending her to the ground in excruciating pain. She watched as the men came closer to her.

"This is for our Pa and sister. See you in hell." The one with the nightstick said. All she could think of was Lauren, Leslie, Kane and her darling Taker, who she will never be able to share her feelings. What will happen to them?

"Goodnight, witch." She closed her eyes, and waited. Too hurt to defend herself.

"No. Goodnight to you, S.O.B.'s." She heard a voice she couldn't mistake. She opened her eyes, to see the two men dangling in mid air, with Taker's hands around their throats. Boy was he pissed. With one swift motion gave them one of his famous chokeslams. The men hit the ground with such force. They won't be waking up until next year. Taker walked over to Sara, sitting on the ground, in pain. Unable to move.

"Are you alright?" He asked walking to her side.

"It's my back. It hurts like hell. I can hardly move my legs." She answered.

"Taker. Where's Kane? I thought I saw him chasing something in the garden. That's why I came out here. I thought he was in trouble. What if they got him?"
When Jay and Kane came to the place they thought they heard Sara's voice. They saw Taker getting up. Before they could say anything he took off running. Thinking they have Sara, they followed. As they arrived on the scene, Taker was sending the two men for a free, joyride.

"Don't worry. I'm fine." Kane said as he approached with Jay beside him.

"Kane! Jay!" Sara yelled, looking at both men. "What about Lauren and Leslie?" She looked to Jay.

Jay explained to her how he had been following her and his nieces, as he called them. From the moment she called for information. He told her about the car following them, that she hadn't observed.

One of the men followed the girls to the mall, waiting to get them when they came back to their car. But he pretended to be in town visiting a friend and happened to run into them while at the mall with his daughter, Salene.

After the girls and Salene saw each other they decided to spend the night and catch up on old times. He told them he would tell her where they were. As for the man following them, well he woke up, with a splitting headache, in a stolen police car. And two very angry police officers, who had been looking for their patrol car that had vanished from in front of a coffee shop.

"Now it's time to take you in and see about your injuries." Taker said as he picked her up carrying her into the lounging room. Laying her on the couch. Taker could tell Sara was in a lot of pain.

"We should get you to a hospital for x-rays." He continued to watch her grimacing with every movement. "Something could be broken."

"No hospitals." She said, wincing. "I'll be alright. I've had worst done to men and made it through. Woooo!" She hollered as a sharp pain hit her.

"That's it, you're going to the hospital. NOW!" He went to pick her up under her protest.

"She can't go to the hospital." Jay said entering with Kane.
Taker turned towards him.

"Yes, she's going. Look at her, she's in a great deal of pain. Something could be wrong. Are you willing to take that chance?" Jay looked at Taker, and realized, Sara had made a deep impression on him. Then he said in a very calming way, to let him know, everything is going to be alright. That, he was here to help, and wouldn't let anything happen to her.

"She won't need to go to a hospital. I have a team coming out to x-ray her and a reliable doctor as well. Okay. Everything is taken care of."

The men were taking on to jail. The x-rays proved to be swelling. The doctor put her on bed rest until the swelling went down. After everyone had left. Sara explained to Kane and Taker that she was an agent. But that's all she could tell them. And made them promise not to tell her daughters.

As they talked the night more, Jay mentioned the seductive dance she did on the dance floor at the bar. Stating he didn't know she could move like that, causing her to give him a dirty look. Taker and Kane chuckled, causing them to get the look, too.

Chapter Ten

Lauren and Leslie spent another day with Salene, before the girls said their goodbyes. Promising to keep in touch more often. When they made it home, they were surprise to see their mother sitting on the couch, in the lounging room, unable to move.

Sara explained to her daughters, she had taken a nasty spill coming down the stairs. And told them everything was alright, nothing broken. Just a little swelling and the doctor had put her on bedrest, but she didn't want to stay in her room alone.

Lauren watched as Taker attended to her mother's every need. Giving him a curious look. Don came back from his business trip earlier then had been expected, and swung by to take Leslie home. Sara was glad to see him again. But told them she probably wouldn't make it to visit them this time around, since she had a chance to see Leslie. She hugged and kiss her daughter and son-in-law goodbye.

After a week of convalescing. Sara was able to move around much better without pain. Time slowly drew near for her to decide, what she was going to do. She hated to say goodbye. But her career choice didn't leave room for much else. And then there was Taker. She stood on her balcony thinking about what she needed to do. As she saw Taker walking in the garden. It was a beautiful summer night, with the stars out in clusters. The moon was shining a mystical light. She left her room to go to the garden.

Taker had watched as Sara regained her strength. Wondering what was going to happen with them. In his heart he felt she would be leaving. He was deep in thought, as he sat on the bench in the garden. He felt a hand gently touch his shoulder. Looking up, there stood Sara. She was enchanting.

The moon's light played over her soft beautiful dark skin. She wore a sheer lilac lounging gown that accentuated her figure. She was wearing her favorite perfume, Eternity. A scent he had come accustomed to, and which caused his feelings to arouse.

Taking her hand, he sat her on his lap. They stared into one another's eyes. And in each other, they saw the emotions that could not be denied. Not being able to hold back any longer, he brought her full opened lips to meet his. Kissing her gently at first, until his fires began to blaze, and not being able to hold back anymore laid her on the ground, looked into her eyes, asking, are you sure you want this? And with some hesitation, she nodded her head.

Taker laid beside her holding her close, realizing this wasn't the right time or place. He reassured her it was okay. They laid there in each other's arms until morning. From a distance two pair of eyes watched. Lauren concerned for the two people she loved so much, and Kane for his brother. It was out of their hands. If this didn't go right, they would have to be there for Taker. They both turned going into their rooms to get a good nights sleep.

During the night, Taker and Sara had fallen asleep under the stars with promises of another day. As the sun began to rise and the birds sang. Taker woke reaching for Sara. But she wasn't there. He ran into the house and started upstairs to her room. And was stopped short. At the top of the stairs stood Lauren. And from the expression on her face, what he had dreaded had come to past.

She was holding two letters. One opened, the other sealed. She reached him the one sealed and address to him. He walked up the stairs towards her taking the letter, continued to his room and closed the door behind him. It would be two days before Kane and Lauren would see him again.

The next week was miserable for Kane and Lauren. Nothing they did would console Taker. He refused to be. He was more grouchy than usual and snapping at them. One night Lauren had decided to cheer him up by making one of his favorite dishes. And had threatened to do one of Chyna's famous moves on him, after some comment on the food.

He said something about, hogs getting fed better slop. It took everything Kane had to hold her down. Taker never knew how close to 'Resting in Peace' he came that night.

A few days later, Kane thought of something that might bring him out of his stupor. He remembered, Taker had shown him this design he wanted on his bike, but never had the time to get it done.

Kane secretly took it and had it done. Lauren was sitting in the lounging room relaxing, head resting on her hand, and one foot draped over the arm of the chair. Contemplating their return to WWF, when she saw Kane and Taker passing by the door.

Kane seemed excited about some surprise he had to show Taker. They went out the door. Within five minutes she jumped at the front door being swung open, crashing into the wall and slamming closed. Kane went stomping upstairs, mumbling something about shoving Harley with design up somewhere. She laughed, her sentiments exactly.

The day of their return to the WWF on RAW had finally come. It had been a busy day with meetings and autograph sessions. Kane and Lauren had a mixed tag team match against Test and Jackie. Kane and Lauren won. Taker fought against Big Bossman. Taker also won. And the fans were great!!!!
Taker was making his way to his dressing room tired and just wanting to go home for a good nights sleep. As a little old lady came walking by. She was all hunched over and she appeared to be lost.

"Ma'am. May I help you?" He asked.

"Yes, you can. I promise my granddaughter I would get the autograph of The Undertaker. I tried at the autograph session today, but it was so hot I just couldn't bare the heat. And I don't like breaking my promises. So if you could show me where he is, I would like to ask him if he would do this little thing for me." She said in a frail voice.

"You are in luck. I am he." He said, looking down at the small lady. "What is you granddaughter's name." Handing him the piece of paper. "Sara." As she looked at him with big brown eyes that seemed so familiar. And then he shook off the thought.

"Forgive me Ma'am. You remind me of someone. Your eyes are so much like hers and her name was Sara, too.

"I'm sorry. Did she die?" She was very concerned.

"No. She had to go away." He said with so much sadness.

"Do you still love her?" She noticed his sadness, and wanted to comfort him.

"Damn me, I do." Barely holding his emotions in, with reopening of an old wound.

"Now, look deep within your heart young man and answer this question. Do you believe she loves you?" She watched him closely as he drew his breath in thinking about this question. And with a sigh.

"Yes. I believe she does. It's like she said. A different time and place it would have been okay." He handed her the autograph.

"Thank you. Listen to an old woman at what she tells you. Life will not be denied. Neither will love if it's strong, it will find a way. Even if it takes an eternity." She reached and held his hand, giving it a soft squeeze. Taker felt something he couldn't quite put his hand on with her touched. She turned and walked away.

Taker made his way to his dressing room still trying to get that nagging feeling out of his head. Entering his room there was a distinctive scent he remembered. As he continue to figure what this scent was. There was a knock at the door. As he opened it, in came Lauren to ask if he felt like going out. When she began to sniff.

"Oooo! Taker. Why didn't you tell me you were seeing someone? I'll leave and let you two finish what you were doing." She was smiling, hoping at last someone had come along to make him forget her mother.

"What are you talking about. There's no one in here. Nor has there been anyone in here" He was back to his grumpy old self.

"Taker unless you have changed your aftershave. The smell of Eternity is filling your room. And I should know my Mmm..... I'm sorry I didn't mean........" She never got a chance to finish.

Taker was out the door trying to find the little old lady he had been talking to. She had answers he needed. He asked everyone had they seen a little old lady all hunched over backstage. No one had seen her. He went back to his dressing room. Convincing himself to let it go and go on with his life.

In the parking lot a figure could be seen walking all hunched over slowly making her way to the streets. Reaching the streets, the figure could be seen walking a little faster with each step and straightening until she reached her full height. Far from the arena. She stopped and turn to look one more time taking off her wig and makeup. As she stood there smiling.

"Actually Taker. I said 'In another time and place, we will be together. And that's a promise.' And I don't like breaking my promises." Sara walked on, until another day.

The End
